idk if thats a reference to redo but if you look closer thats literally every death hes had so far. Redo was mostly just some random stuff but this one was a 1:1 reenactment of his own deaths so far.

I thought it was because our perspective of Return By Death starts to change as we learn more about it. In S1 it was viewed as a curse but then in s2 Subaru starts to view it as a tool. There was this existential terror of having this power and that track matched that perfectly. Now I think they used it to also show the terror but not of the ability itself but from the situation it was triggered by, as in Subaru not even knowing why he died

Based on season 2, the thing with RTD is that it is about keeping Subaru alive. Everybody could die and the return point could be after it if they wouldn't necessary for a future where he survive. Knowing that I was actually concerned about Patrasche

The show deserves props for continuing to keepi the audience in Subaru’s perspective with RBD, just because you no the suffering will be undone doesn’t mean the show doesn’t make you feel how awful it is in the moment.

Opening goes hard, probably my second favorite one in the series (nothing is beating redo) Subaru's second death in this episode is genuinely so fucking heartbreaking. Subaru's desert drip is better than that dirty ass jacket he's been wearing, everyone's designs for this arc are also amazing. Imagining how Beatrice must have felt to see Subaru bleed out is wrecking me. Probably one of the S1 ones with Puck talking about destroying the world, I think? Most of the time we only get a couple seconds, but those were several minutes at least IIRC.

Focking amazing episode, this episode truly felt like a prim and proper Re:0 episode with very, very solid direction and animation that jumped up a lot during key moments such as Ram's clairvoyance, which was done masterfully. Subaru's two loops were also very brutal, and they did not hold back on the gore, which is very telling of what's to come for the upcoming episodes, having me be really excited!!! The OST usage was also done well too, so I would say that the overall episode is a very solid 9/10!

Then shoots at him blocked by Emilia, and then shoots at him again but blocked by EMT. I think part of the reason it's written that they separated form the cart was to obfuscate the fact he was the only target, since we can't know for sure whether she took shots at the wagon after they separated.

This show has a lot of star and clestial body naming themes, so it's hard to tell. Cuz it's also worth notign the Pleiades are the Seven Sisters, but the reason for example the Subaru car logo only shows six is because only six are visible to the naked eye, and it'd be easy to draw a parallel between that and the Witches (with the 6 and 1, so it's hard to tell what's directly related to what.

Damn, I love these moments when Subaru dies out of nowhere and goes back in time. The first death and the headshot weren't bad, as he died instantly, but the second one, when Patrasche tried to protect him, and with Beako's death hit much, much harder. Emilia's new outfit is so good, I love it! It's also nice to see that Subaru got a different outfit as well. Overall, this was a great episode, even better than the premiere. Today there was even OP, which was quite a surprise, but a welcome one, since IMO, it's the best OP of the show. Also, Meili's powers in those monster-filled dunes are truly OP. I disagree that the first death wasn't bad. Yes he died instantly, but immediately after he's in full PTSD panic while thrown back into a situation where if he stops to process he'll die, but if he doesn't stop, he'll also die from an unknown source up ahead. The amount of mental torture that would be. Not as bad as the second death, but still bad.

Also, last week I wondered how not even Reinhard could get to the tower. I would have imagined him to spontaneously develop a divine protection of tower fast traveling or something. Now I wonder if it was one of his divine protections that actually helped prevent him getting to the tower, for his own safety. Not only do sugoookus reduce suffering, we also have examples like the first OVA being completely devoid of suffering and having ten in it, the glorious S2 finale also having almost as many, and the S3 premiere having a lot as well - which was nice and peaceful for a very long time, right until it wasn't anymore.

I like how quick the first death was. Basically saw a light reflected in Subaru's eyes, I blinked, and then his head was gone... And that seems more or less how he understood it since he was confused as hell. And then needed a much more brutal second experience to understand it

But everyone loves the fire fighter who saves the day. Prevention is just hard to metricize, since it's eternally plagued by the issue of "maybe it would have never happened anyways". This reminds of general relativity. The best part of this episode, is when Subaru said "It's sandin' time" And then sanded all over them Theresia would love this place. First death of the arc! Ahhhh That was like 60 seconds ago And here I thought that the like 15 minutes in Arc 5 was bad. This is like actual save scumming territory. And Subaru wasted too much time pondering his death. Re:Zero hadn't really done too much with the quick turn around of RBD yet. That sandworm looks good. Very creepy and unsettling. The trust Emilia-tan has in Subaru as a commander, that going towards certain death is even an option. Subaru's come a long way Not Patrasche! Nvm, we good. The advantage of having trust and reputation built up. This sort of thing would never work in Season 1. This does not seem good. Did Julius just parry a light beam? Evidently not.

I am now officially sold on the OP too after seeing it play in an episode I really am impressed at just how much they managed to put into this episode without it feeling rushed. The first half which was more chill I thought would take the whole episode with a glimpse of the action at the very end but as soon they reached the field of flowers insane moments were happening in quick succession. I am already feeling the hype. At least we got this cute Betty/Subaru moment to cut all the suffering

It feels like that stairs aligned that allowed Subaru and the gang to make it through. They did proper information gathering with the barkeep (I assume Reinhard went alone for whatever reason) which helped them learn about the white bird. The white bird also only showed up a year ago, so Reinhard wouldn't have had access to it. Bless Ram clairevoyance and Foxidna's guidance. Reinhard feels like the ultimate sword imo, not really capable of much in complex situations.

This just went from 0 to 100 real quick. The first part of the episode was a nice start of the trip with shenanigans and banter with a sense of tension. But that snipe shit was probably Subaru's fastest as in instant death in the series so far ? And from here it just ramps up more and more I dont know how they will get to this tower cause it seems insane how many things they have to deal with and variables but it was so damn good. What better way for Meili to flex what she can do than the fact that she could easily try to kill them with a giant sandworm but is, in fact, the only reason it's not trying to kill them ? Foxidna knows the truth about the Aguria Dunes: a space distortion that separates the tower from everything else, and only during the height of the sandstorm is there even a HOPE of getting through it. It would've been so much easier to just have Meili Owen Grady that Mabeast away...if not for Joseph asserting dominance and giving them away. RUN FOR IT! Well, it looks like they're evading the Mabeasts and should be able to make it to the tower safely....wait, never mind, Subaru just got headshotted. Welcome back Return by Death and welcome back Subaru trying to make sense of how he died while events play out the same. Subaru probably had the right idea of pivoting away from the tower...and while Ram has doubts, Emilia believes in him! In dangerous situations specifically! Banzai, I suppose! But even that's not enough to save poor Patrasche OR Subaru. But honestly the only thing that hits harder than Patrasche sacrificing herself to save Subaru is watching Beatrice in utter grief over Subaru dying out...and then she dies too. PATRASCHE! BEAKO! NOOOOOO!!! Well, at least the third go-around Subaru realizes the important thing is keeping Joseph calm, but that's not going to stop him from being targetted by...needles? Wow. Good thing Subaru and Beatrice now have EMT! Their EMP move for magic! Only problem is that said maneuever ends up effecting the distortion and everyone falls into something. Yikes. Who is this woman? Was she the one targetting Subaru? And why does it seem like she was looking for him specifically?

Once again, the sound of Re:Zero never ceases to amaze me. Meili's "tch, tch, tch" sounds right after Subaru's death, ticking like a clock. As if telling Subaru, "Time marches on, and if you do nothing, you'll die again." Combined with Calls of the Witch? Pure cinema. It reminds me of when the white whale appeared and the soundtrack was a distorted version of Subaru's cell phone alarm.It's great.

Subaru literally had no time to comprehend what was happening around him and had to die several times to understand his situation was the shock value I was missing all along the years. I felt like I went back to season 1 all over again. Also the other characters probably see Subaru as a semi-oracle at this point since they started to trust him so much.

this is literally the most batshit insane second episode I have seen in all of my anime history. And Wholius needs his own fan club after that insane save. The production quality is through the roofs compared to s3 which already was pretty good. And it is so cool to see the chemistry develop between the Emilia camp with how far they have come, all of them assuming their positions intrinsically and everyone trusting Subaru with their whole heart and ready to give up their life for protecting him.

I’ve missed the brutal deaths and resets. I know he made a promise to not die as much but I think one of the things that really drew me in when the first few seasons was the brutal resets he was facing and then overcoming them. I hope this tower is one of these crazy things Subaru has to overcome. I did like seeing Ram get some screen time I hope she has a bigger role in this season.

First skipped ED of the season yay! And thus ends the longest no death streak in the Re:Zero anime so far... I think at least, like from S3 Ep2 until now, or maybe his run from the 2nd half of the 2nd season until the end of S3 Ep 1 was about as long? Anyways it was really good streak that has come to an end twofold this ep. The way Beatrice's lifeless body disappeared on him was so sad... Another ep that just really flew by like it was 5 mins long though, maybe the ep time is distorted as well.

Give me more badass Emilia moments and I stay a happy man. Holy fuck... When you're underleveled and save too close to an unskippable boss fight. This is the smallest RBD loop we've had so far. How is he supposed to get any information on the sniper if he can't react to the attack. The trauma in this scene. Betty's reaction is heartbreaking. I can't remember many Subaru deaths where we see the reaction of his friends before he passes (apart from the the second trial of course but that's it's own thing). I love how he imediately tells Betty he loves her after returning. Subaru's growth in not taking RBD for granted since S2 and appreciating his friends more might be my favourite thing right now. SMART! That's some outside of the box thinking with his Authority of Sloth, I bet no one's used it to pet before. Is this the sage!? Was she the one shooting at them? Gotta say, they really upped the gore this episode, those brief shots of best girl's corpse and Subaru's guts hanging out were really detailed and made those moments feel impactful. The early bits of Season 3 had that feeling with Subaru's hanging death in Episode 2, but it's been so long since a death that they really stepped it up to remind you just how brutal it can be.

subaru acting like a tsundere around julius, the two of them really have came a long way. and we got meili the Lisan-al-Gaib out here controlling sandstorms in Dune, she really showed them how valuable she is after it seemed like she wasn’t doing anything. re:zero’s cast depth has always been a big strength, besides subaru and emilia (and now beatrice) the team around them changes arc by arc but they always step up to the plate when it’s time to shine but the final part of the episode with the light sniper is where that feeling of watching something special returned to me. beatrice crying over being left alone again was tough after we found out how much it means to her in Choose Me, and for the shot to take even her out so easily is no good sign. the gore during that scene was more detailed than i can ever recall in the series too. praying that this season lives up to the hype i’ve heard for 6 years, this episode certainly reached it

Holy crap, the Crunchyroll subtitle is so bad. I watched it for a few minutes and can't take it. Usually Muse Asia has the best sub, but muse asia release is delayed. I suggest anyone look up other better subtitles. I found a good one on twitter.

Ah here we go...epic and brutal RE:zero The deaths in this episode were a lot more graphic than I imagined...hell I think they rank already as some of the most graphic deaths on the simple gore amount. It did pretty much end where I expected, which makes me excited for next week...this is actually one of the few animes where I felt compelled to read the source material, even if the source material LN's are getting released at a snail's pace I am so happy we get Subaru in proper adventuring gear. I know the tracksuits are iconic for the character but this just looks better. It was until I read the comments that I realized the iconic death sound hadn't been used in so long. Let's see how many times the OP and ED are played this time. I heard from an interview that there will be a lot of episodes where the ED will play in the background like Season 1 and 2. We didn't really have that in Season 3. This is the first time Subaru didn't die in the first episode of a season. He died in the 2nd episode instead... The first death was probably the fastest he's ever died. New record. The second death... oh boy. The author realized we've gotten used to watching Subaru suffer and die. So he made us see his friends watch him die and suffer now. Well played, Tappei. Aside from that... They finally did it. They played Call of the Witch OST again! I think this is the first time since Season 1? I am so glad. You know this season is gonna be GOATed now. I can't wait for the next episode, especially for the ED.

Outsmarting a sniper in an open field is certainly going to be tough, though the reality shattering at the end might cause that to be unnecessary. Julius is still goated, even as a normal knight. Also liked the confirmation that they trust Subaru when he just randomly starts spewing some stuff about danger, since it worked really well before.

I heard people were complaining that Subaru didn't die and suffer enough in season 3. And well, last episode was still the quiet before the storm with wrapping up last season and setting up the goals of this one. But no more! Dying and suffering is back on the menu! Two quick deaths in succession with even less time between Subaru's death and his respawn point than in season 3. Emotional gutpunches and horrific bodygore all included! And the only way they quickly managed to avoid getting sniped by supersonic needles got the entire spacetime of the desert all warped up, without knowing to what that will lead. Arguably a better time for it then several days previously when they were still in the middle of the desert crossing, I suppose. Sniper is probably the bikini outfit girl in the OP given her finger gun bit, so at least she's hot in addition to being murderous. That was a really brutal series of deaths the second time around. First the sandworm, then Patrasche, then Beatrice gets it and they were so mean as to make us watch her disintegrate and blow away, and finally Subaru at the end.

I love the new opening. The whole section with the tower sniping too was done very well. Especially the second scene with Beatrice. Been a bit since we’ve seen Subaru shocked by his death

Oof, this was brutal. We have only started the season and we already got the record for Subaru dying the most frequent consecutive deaths. I believe the period between his deaths is shorter compared to when he faced against Wrath last season right? And that second death, oh man. Physical pain accompanied with emotional pain, then adding all that to the fact that he needed to immediately process what happened, his feelings, and the trauma he just got. Yep, Re:Zero is back.

Desert trip time, these always suck so hard, so is no wonder this will suck too. At least the team is solid, Meili redirects the monsters, Anastasia has hidden knowledge, Ram is the scout and Subaru clutched the intel necessary for them to escape the endless dunes. Well, there goes the longest survival streak, keeping alive for most of S3, only to die twice in quick succession in S4, and basically getting nothing because their opponent is a peerless sniper, I suppose. Well let's see where the hole in the ground will take them.
砂漠編か……この手の展開はいつも過酷だからな、今回も例に漏れず厳しい戦いになるだろうな。ただチーム編成は合理的だ。メィリィが魔獣を誘導し、アナスタシアが隠された知識を持つ偵察役のラム、そしてスバルが無限の砂丘を脱出するための情報を掴んだという流れは、まさに伏線の回収と言える。 S3の大半を生き延びた最長生存記録もここまでか。S4開始早々に連続で死に戻りを余儀なくされ、しかも相手が比類なき狙撃手ということでほぼ無に等しい収穫しか得られなかったという考察ができる。さて、地面の穴が彼らをどこへ導くのか、注目したいところだ。考察くん+5

Hell yeah, my girl Ram getting an involved role in an arc again. That off-handed mention about something with her body sure was ominous, though. And double hell yeah for the first Subaru deaths in... an entire season? (Wasn't the last one in S3E2?) Bringing back the eEeEeEeaaAAaa too. Now this is what Re:Zero is all about. The opening looks cool but I have to say I don't immediately love the song. Especially after Reweave, this one just feels all over the place. I can only hope that it grows on me. And even if it doesn't... well, it's not like it's going to play a lot lol
ラムがまた重要ポジションで活躍とかガチで草www でも身体に関しての意味深なセリフはなんかヤバそうやな… んでスバルの死に戻りが1シーズンぶりとかマ？(S3の2話以来か？) 「eEeEeEeaaAAaa」の演出も戻ってきてるし、これこそRe:ゼロやろ OP映像はかっこいいけど曲は正直ピンとこなかったンゴ… 前のReweaveと比べるとゴチャゴチャしてるわ まあそのうち好きになるかもしれんし、ならなくても本編であんま流れんやろｗ2ちゃん+5
