I'm starting to think that scene of Subaru surrounded by all his deaths was either a reference to the constant deaths of this episode or all the deaths he's going to have to stomach to regain his REAL self (or at least the understanding of his real self to be able to save everyone).

I feel like the whole situation with Roy and Reid and the conversation Subaru had with Rui a while back, it'll be an ego death of the "separate" Subarus and they'll merge. My main wonder is if this will shed some light on his history with Shaula and Satella. Clearly his history with this world predates him being isekai'd from the convenience store in episode 1. Would be wild if this incarnation of Subaru not only gets the memories of the Subaru we know and love, but some ancient OP Subaru.

I’ve always thought his EP 1 spawn was the equivalent of coming back to a game you had 100s of hours in, but it’s been years and you forgot what the hell is going on. Dude’s save file could not have started there. He didn’t have the convenience store bag, but he probably came back to earth, forgot, and then went back.

The scenes between Shaula and Subaru in this episode hit so hard! Shaula was always so smiley and cheerful all the time , so watching her say how much she missed Master, or when she was begging Subaru to order her to kill herself , was heartbreaking.

When a series finally decides to give a comic relief character a serious moment it always has the potential to hit exceptionally hard and this episode fucking delivered with Shaula, and what makes it work is that it’s the same personality, her desperately wanting to be around her master, that she’s had from the start, but only now the series really forces you to realize the raw pain and loneliness she’s experienced for centuries that’s driven her to act like this. Beautiful.

With all this loops and the real life days I waited for this anime I forgot that they barely (cutting out all the loops) have spent 4 days inside the tower. To Shaula, her master's progress is phenomenal, completing one exam in a day as what she would've expect of him. But I really can't imagine how much inner conflict, guilt and desire to stay with him just a "little" longer after waiting for 400 years seems so much humane to me (even tho she aint one).

If Satella didn’t straight up make it happen, I think it was more or less destined for Subaru to get acquainted with Emilia. They look far too similar for it to be a coincidence. It might be something along the lines of Subaru always being drawn to, or falling in love with, someone who looks like that. Satella probably knows his personality inside and out. Sealing her is probably about as much as you can do, assuming her ability gives her infinite do-overs. And you have to wonder to what extend you can seal her when she just casually shows up every other episode.

I'm pretty sure the Sword Saint blessing only came about for Reid's descendants. He earned the title of Sword Saint with his raw talent alone, no divine protection. Reid doesn't need od Laguna's favor because he is him.
