We also have to consider their current situations: 1) Being Supreme Commander who does what he was, including just going home ‘cause he doesn’t feel like it, 2) Having 1,200 underlings and being in charge of 3 of the top 6 floors in your cutthroat school, 3) Being the leader of a class of 13, all of whom are Rank 4 in their first year, and occupy the Royal One. It’s quantity vs quality and I personally think raising 12 other students to Rank 4 in one year is more impressive than having a large following.

Iruma seems to be the only one of the three who actually wants to raise other demons with him rather than caring about his own power. Granted we don’t know the other two well, but based on what we know I think it’s a fair assumption. However, let us not forget the demon who gave him this value: Ameri, who was the OG vested interest in wanting you to find and achieve your desires!

I genuinely find it so funny that he listed the most random bs to begin with, and only when told thats not what they meant That he started listing the actual reasons. I think he was honestly thinking it was play from the other kids considering how he responded. Though it is very interesting that he is bold and ambitious enough to declare himself a viable candidate. As for best contender, I feel that: Leviathan Leidzi is absolutely an inviable candidate for leadership, as he is far too capricious even for a demon. While Demons do favor selfishness and taking what you want, they also seem to acknowledge the realism that you Also need to be competent and that you cannot just do things. He represents the culture of Demons that represents taking what you want how you want, he is an ideal in terms of being completely himself, and showing a refinement that contrasts his incompetence also helps him seem like an ideal on the surface. Whereas Belial Berry Razberry is, ironically, more fitting both for demon culture and competency. Unlike Leidzi, Razberry has actual accomplishments(Proving worth, a value in Demon Society), and also is ambitious as all hell(Another core value of Demon Society), plus he's very much already shown to be a leader in a competent way. If there was any competence to picking between the two, it is so obviously him??? The literal only flaw he has is a lack of regard for consequences and himself. Iruma ironically is one of the least fitting to demonic culture, yet also the most ideal candidate. He has ambition, he has achievements, a steady head, and is openly himself as well- But the things that hold himself back are the fact that he's human and the fact that Iruma has such a naive and easy to manipulate personality... He only recognizes danger when it gets Very close to mass destruction, albeit that is because he is used to demons being chaotic and boastfully over-the-top, so he only takes it seriously when he sees proof that they mean it. I think you're severely underestimating Razberry, and that Leidzi probably has more up their sleeve than thusfar shown- I'd wager he is raw and unadulterated power to afford to be how he is, pride over all else kind of Demon.

Honestly, me saying Iruma has the upper hand was more as a joke connected to what they did during the entrance ceremony. I wasn't actually trying to analyze who is truly fitting. I mean, the ring chosing Iruma should already be enough anyway since it seems that it recognizes him as a good leader for the future. But this wasn't me saying that the others are not able to fulfill that role. At the end, no matter who is chosen, they will have a group that supports them and their weaknesses especially.

I can only imagine that Baal is expecting he'll have overturned the entire order of the Demon Realm to the point where a "bad demon" like Kiriwo could possibly be the Demon King. If it's not Baal himself. I wonder who his other choice is? Probably a "safe" choice but how committed would he be to that?

It is very validating and refreshing to see that characters in the world actually acknowledge the bits, most anime seem to gloss over them. Oh god, is Baal actually gonna nominate Kiriwo? I am curious to see how that's even gonna work, considering Kiriwo is a fugitive. I feel like this is something he can get away with. Fugitive or not, being a Demon King Candidate actually may give him immunity for the duration of the candidacy judgement, though I do note that he seemed to have two people in mind, not just Kiriwo. I bet that it will also be an excuse to get Kiriwo into the limelight beside Iruma- so that their plans will accelerate, especially regarding removing Iruma from the equation.

Lmao Paimon and Barbatos immediately arguing was too good. The three greats nominating their grandkids to be the next demon king was on brand for them. Iruma listening to the other 2 candidates arguments for being the next demon king and declaring that he would be best was too funny. I definitely would want to see how Iruma would lead the netherworld. Seems like it's gonna get pretty lively with some of the thirteen crowns nominating their own candidates for demon king. I'm intrigued how the interview with the thirteen crowns will go down

They may be the top demons but they're also doting grandparents who care about their grandchildren as much as they care about the demon realm. At the very least I feel like Iruma would not ditch the job (Leidzi) and he wouldn't need to power through to take over by anything more than making people fall in love with/better themselves, unlike Razberry. I'm really curious what Baal is going to do about Iruma because he's the only one who knows he's human and I feel like that's part of why he objected. He's got to secure his own power base and his own candidates one way or another, and he's not going to let Iruma succeed.

You thought they were nominating Demon King candidates, but the Three Greats were actually just getting the Thirteen Crowns to judge which of their grandsons are the cutest! Speaking of, Leiji and Razzberry are both really interesting! Both are ruthless and live by their own rules… but have either of them won the Babylus Eating Competition six times in a row? Ameri would be an interesting Demon King candidate! I’m not sure if she’s be interested, but she’d be a hell of a competitor if she was! Particularly with Iruma as one of her opponents.

We know Ameri is ambitious though not sure that goes beyond helping her dad with her job. But she's definitely qualified and will probably end up in a high-ranking political position one way or another...even by marriage.

I suspect that Ameri would also vote Iruma as candidate, too. She seems the type to recognize talent and support it. Though, I feel like she'd absolutely take the position until she realizes Iruma is in the running, and that the previous Ameri and Iruma kissing scene at the high-level nobility meeting actually implies Ameri will become very relevant to the plotline occuring now, and possibly be the reason why Iruma is accepted as a human candidate for Demon King. My curiousity is, "Will Alikred/Derkila actually have to be revealed here?" Because I suspect that it won't take long for people to recognize who they are... Unless ofcourse, they don't. The 'dont' would be a comedic subversion, but I don't believe it'd go without any reference to them feeling familiar/feeling similar to Derkila.

Nah, from the way it's being set up, it's likelier to be an arc. Just like Walter Park, it introduces a bunch of characters, and while they will have relevance later, they exist firstly for this arc and not further. I believe this is a stage set for the second phase of the series, where it transitions from just Iruma living and learning about the Demon World, to Iruma actually starting to have responsibilities. Is he demon king yet? No. Is the Demon King going to actually be elected here? I doubt it. But I believe that this will be an initial competition, that settles with Kiriwo being forced away alongside his brother in a more open rebellion, Iruma and the other candidates who remain growing as people and later visiting much more of the world than they already have- probably seeing the demon society in a more whole way, and having unique challenges to resolve that'll show their skills and talents, and involve the demon nobility much more closely than ever This second phase will probably last 2-3 seasons, but I don't think we'll be seeing the other candidates too often outside of this arc and then arcs that focus on specific ones.

I've only known Razzberry for 1 episode, but I love this guy. I'm a little unsure on Leiji though his design is really cool. The gambling lawless school sounds fun. I hope we see the other schools at some point. A lot of the thirteen crowns at least the ones present seem to all have children in Babylon. Even if they don't they seem really involved with the school, but I do hope some of the unseen crowns are involved in other schools. It be a little unbalanced if all the crowns focused on only one great demons schools and not the others. Though I guess some of their work can involve everyone like Azazel with Border patrol. Looking forward to the Grandson/granddaughter Demon King/Queen competition.
