I like the weird magical ecology of that world. Tiny walking trees, big annoying shouting trees, and volcano birds who prevent eruptions by laying eggs in hot springs. But even the monkeys were feybeasts. Does that world even have any normal non-magical animals ? The Pandabus actually jumping in fear when Myne saw that salamander feybeast was cute. It is also nice to know that Brigitte and her family do not bully the commoners unlike the rest of the nobles.

Now we just need Rozemyne to invent bathhouses. Considering Freida's bathroom from way back, I could see the nobles absolutely loving something that's a mix between Roman and Japanese bathhouses. And tbh, irl, I'm kind of surprised the west hasn't really taken to bathhouses again just cause of how nice they are. They kind of exist with saunas and baths in luxury spas but we don't really have just full bathhouses

Public bathhouses continued to be a thing throughout the European Middle Ages. It is less 'be a thing again' and more 'stopped being a thing' in the 16th century with the rise of massive disease outbreaks and changing attitudes towards nudity. Public baths had a moderate resurgance in the 19th and early 20th centuries, but fell out of favor with modern plumbing making private baths relatively inexpensive. Japan also has an extremely high density of hot springs suitable for baths that is not true of most of Europe or North America.

Ilgner is a frontier village, and the difference between nobles and commoners isn't as pronounced as in the city, where they are treated as near deity. Also, Brigette is a country girl, and clearly loves her hometown, with it's laid back attitude and chill lifestyle. Damuel, meanwhile, is a city boy, and need to realise that if he wants to marry Brigette, since she (IIRC) outranks him both in mana and rank, he will be the one marrying into her family. I wonder if he will accept that he will be marrying into an area that will NOT treat him like the ranked noble he is. He will also be away from the center of power....not an easy lifestyle, especially since Bridgette isn't the heir (her brother is) so he will be a side relative. Still, if Rozemyne's new paper factory in Ilgner works up, it could develop into a major town.

I would imagine that serving Myne prior to her becoming Rozemyne probably means he has a pretty enlightened view of commoners compared to the average noble. Also being close to the center of power doesn't have a whole lot in the way of perks if you are at the bottom of the totem pole. I was thinking watching this that it really would have been a disaster for the commoners if Bridgette's early engagement went through. Given that guy's arrogance I can't imagine he would tolerate commoners acting so casually with him.

Iligner will be the first province outside of the capital with a working paper factory. They have lumber locally, so the only cost other than production is to transport the finished products. The bigger bookmaking industry gets (which Roz will move heaven and earth for to make it happen), the more prosperous this province will be. This also mean that more and more people will flock to Brigitte (i mean, her ex just did recently), and not all of them will come in peace. It's all on her and Damuel to sort it out.

Yeah, Illgner from today's episode seemed like a pretty fun place with how nobles and commoners interact there . Rozemyne surely had a great time there thanks to that, although others were quite surprised by it , but that's nothing weird since it really felt so different from what we've seen in the city of Ehrenfest.

Very good observations, and yes, making paper here will definitely have a big impact on the area, over time, so who knows what Ilgner will look like in 10, 20, 30 years or more. I don't think it will ever turn into a city, just because of the region it's in, and them needing the forest to still be a thing for the paper, but everyone here should be able to prosper and lead a very good life as long as the people in charge (namely Brigitte's family) don't get too greedy. So yes, probably pretty big paper making industry out of here, but don't think it would be enough to turn it into a full on city.

There is no rule saying the lesser noble must marry into the higher noble's family. There are rules, though about defined status. Briggete could decide to marry into Damuel's family, but she would be forced to drop her status from Middle to Lower. This would not bode well for their children who would only be able to find partners in Middle Nobles. The biggest problem with marrying into Damuel's family is that Briggete is specifically looking for a groom to suppoer her family. She will not accept marrying into another's family.

Probably the inspiration a lot of names in the series have German inspiration, with minor differences either due to being interpreted into Japanese and then into English, or as mistakes/deliberate alterations by the author. A little fun fact that I hope won’t get me source material flagged, Damuel’s name was actually a typo. He was supposed to be Samuel but the author mistyped it and rolled with it.

That was one of the better episodes this season imo. Illgner was a really fun place, especially with how differently commoners and nobles interact among themselves there . Gramps rules! Also, it was a pretty fantasy-like place since we could see walking nanseb trees , and hear effon trees that cry . Gathering at Mount Lohenberg was also pretty fun since Rozemyne treated it a little like a hot springs adventure . The post-credits scene explaining why Justus didn't take part in this gathering was hilarious. Well, it was definitely a good choice, as no one would want that volcano to erupt , lol.
