Gero with his beer stomach jelly balloon thingie was…something. I’m simultaneously amazed, disgusted, and embarrassed lol. At least it inspired Shiori to try something new. I like her a lot. She’s a bit socially awkward and shy but she’s a nice kid. That little magic show was really cute. I’m curious how Gero’s gonna fight the Sound Master. Guy’s pretty formidable and it seems like Gero’s at a real disadvantage.

We shouldn't forget that Gero's poison is not just to buff himself, but can be pretty deadly for any opponent. Ushio had to dodge it after all and destroy the syringes. But this time, Gero still has all his tools left. All he needs to do is get Naruka to take the poison in any way. It doesn't even have to be directly. He can just make him drink or inhale it. If he manages to do that, no more sound shenanigans.

Damn, how many outfits is Kinosaki planning on rocking this season? He is even adjusting hair styles every time. How much more best girl does he want to become? Though, I will say, Shiori is a fun addition too. Her hoodie even cried when she was crying in the corner as well. Interesting to see where this goes. I assume her father chose her because she has her own vision of the company (if it does party goods, that might seem like it doesn't fit her but I guess we will see that). Also, just to get this straight: Naruko is vibrating his own body so hard and precise that the resulting vibrations in the air can be used to have large scale attacks and influence people's behaviour (I guess through the ear). But why am I even wondering that considering that the dude in the beginning was holding three people during the meeting for no reason other than wanting to flex and train his muscles.

I am definitely curious about the roundabout way in which Naruko / Sound Master attempts to complete his mission. It is obvious he is capable of hypnotism and a normal human like Shiori wouldn't stand a chance of resisting. Unless it is the presence of Gero which limits Naruko's hypnotism range? Perhaps he is worried that Gero would recognize the hypnotism if it happened to his client and reverse it somehow, or he is such a narcissist that he prefers to kill in more subtle ways than hypnotizing his target and telling them to commit suicide. Or perhaps there is a limit to what he can accomplish with the hypnotism - i.e., it can only induce actions that the target already had an inclination to do.

My favourite segment of this episode is watching Gero enjoy studying at university! I vaguely recall he wasn't allowed to attend school so this is his first experience of learning at an education institute. If I had a nickel for every anime this season that has the protag enjoying themselves learning at school (Kill Ao), I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice in the same season.

I think there are a couple of explanations they could go with. 1) Gero is there, so he can't hypnotize her into killing herself because he would just stop it. 2) He could only hypnotize people only into doing something they have some sort of belief in to begin with. Like the uncle would believe in her going on the trip, so the Sound Master can get him to say it.

I'm never a fan of these types of characters. I find them very irritating (see: Agents of the Four Seasons, My Happy Marriage) so this was the least fun episode for me. But I gotta give Shiori props, she's taking the initiative to change herself which already makes her better than most and her "shy" speech pattern isn't egregious. The magic show was endearing. Marriagetoxin is great at banter and this was a very banterless episode. There's currently more chemistry between Gero and the candy mix professor dude than with Shiori. Even Kinosaki ended up being kinda boring in this one which seems like a crime.

They are both hopeless dorks crippled by social anxiety pushing themselves hard outside their comfort zons to find the happiness they want. So that's a huge connection right there, as they have a shared goal to empathize with and root for the others' succeess. Plus, Gero's party trick 100% bombed... or not, as it apparently inspired Shiori to pull off a (successful) party trick of her own. In other words, Shiori took inspiration from Gero to help push her further along her own goal. She's watching him. She was impressed, even when no one else was. And this helped her find strength to pursue her own dream. And as a side note, he's living vicariously through her. In his own words, he's having a blast while sheperding her through this critical period in her life. Their connection is subtle, but lowkey solid. She just needs to learn he's on the same journey as her, an awkward dork trying to be more social, and it should really click.

Shiori's uncle is pretty damn crazy! Dude is playing with a modified RingFit and using it to carry Gero, Mei, and Shiori while he briefs them on their mission. What makes the scene even better is how no one seems to acknowledge it. You'd think Mei would at least comment about it! 😆 WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, GERO?! Maybe that's a trick the Bug Master enjoys seeing when they're drinking together but that's definitely a surefire way to make everyone avoid you at a party. I don't think there's any question on who the Sound Master is. I am curious what Naruko was carrying on his back while he was spying on Shiori. Is that supposed to be a giant speaker in a giant hardcase? Also, the dude has pretty much hypnotized his client and is making her massage him. If I had a nickel for every master assassin this season who went back to school and enjoyed it , I'd have two nickels. It's not much, but it's weird that it happened twice. Glad that Gero immediately realized what happened when they were attacked. Although he's at a disadvantage here since Naruko has already figured out that he's a Poison Master, while Gero still doesn't know who the Sound Master is. I was worried about Shiori during the camping scene but it looks like she won the crowd over with her cute little trick. I do like how she's not relying on Gero or Mei and she's trying to do this all on her own.

So is being a complete weirdo a requirement for being a named character in this ‘verse? Like, uncle-san is meant to be a normal civilian, right? New girl kawaii. And they did well in depicting that sheer awkwardness of simultaneously having too much to say and no idea what to say. Come to think of it, how old is Gero-kun anyways? I’m assuming he’s somewhere in his 20’s, but can’t remember if it was stated anywhere. That party trick might’ve been more popular at a stupid frat party, but not at what I assume is a high-end university welcome party. At least they can be utterly embarrassed together. New weirdo approaches. He’s that naked guy in water in the OP. His moveset feels like a huge pain to fight against. Plus he’s super creepy. How did she fit all that in her bag? And glad that Gero’s embarrassment was worth something in the end. So that setup for the old legend is sus af. And the eyes in the flashback look like the Sound Master’s hypno eyes. Wires are never a good sign. Though he’s a sound guy, so he might use them as a convoluted instrument instead of the standard hidden wire setup.

Like, if he told Gero “Some women want a submissive and breedable househusband who sometimes reenacts sexy scenes from monsterfucker romance books in the bed”—what’s the move here? Would Gero do that to help him find love? Being able to cook with ✨presentation✨and competence is certainly attractive. But I’m just curious how far this can go. I kinda hope Naruko gets beaten and turned into an ally who competes with Kinosaki over what love advice to give Gero. That would be so funny. I realize this could also be me pushing my polyshipping agenda, but who can say for certain.

Ureshino is cute. She is way more shy than I expected but she has some pretty cute moments like when she and her jacket were crying in the background of the drinking party. Still she is no Kinosaki who I feel blessed to have seem him with glasses and a ponytail this episode. Gero is really enjoying the chance to live the normal college life he never got to enjoy. Him chugging all the drinks was hilarious although that laughter quickly changed to horror when he vomited that monstrosity. Truly the most wtf moment in the series. I refuse to believe everybody survived that roof collapsing in that classroom. With that much destruction there had to me at minimum multiple students dead that the story refused to acknowledge and it makes me worry of how many more will perish in the camping trip. I did not need to see a story where a baby gets eaten. Even if it isn’t real that was fucked up to see. Also I feel like I am the one guy who will be happy that we went back to the regular ending in this episode. Having the girls get added to the ending is cool and I was expecting it to carry over each episode with Ureshino getting added alongside Kinoshita at the end of this arc but I personally prefer this because this type of ending would mean less and less Kinosaki which is something I don’t want.

Gero's been thrown into the thick of it now! Someone not used to groups or people at a college welcome party! But he's in good company because someone else is struggling too: Shiori Ureshino! An heiress who is as cute as she is socially awkward and desperately trying to communicate with her fellow college students! She and Gero can commiserate over that at least. Shiori's swole uncle Mitsuhiko tasked our main duo with protecting her from her aunt who seeks to steal the company from Shiori after her deceased father willed it to her...and also help Shiori fit in at college. And thus was "Daigo Oshima" born! Yes, nothing sells a welcome party like party tricks! Like chugging eight beers and then popping out some water-absorbent polymer! That's sure to win everyone over. This Naruko (Soma Saito!) guy looks SUPER on the up and up and not SUPER suspicious at all! He even manages to pull a Harem in like five seconds. Kinosaki is not convinced about an honest day's work with his izakaya paycheck (though he looked great in the uniform) but Shiori is still committed to making friends and putting herself out there in college, to carry on her fathers' last wish. She's so caught up in her own head and in her anxiety that she struggles to vocalize her feelings, something she's regretted up to her fathers' deathbed, but that's why she's trying so hard now. And she appreciates having Gero there to support her. Futae, Shiori's aunt, might chew Naruko out but she's still giving him a massage...and his ability to control sound as the Sound Master means he can control her too. Gero is REALLY enjoying playing a college student with Kinosaki! He and a teacher were THIS close to becoming bros before the classroom was attacked by the Sound Master and her just narrowly saved Shiori. It's nice of Shiori's uncle to support her going on a camping trip to make friends. Sure he might be controlled by the Sound Master who wants her in the perfect position to kill her, but still. Gero and Shiori are already on a "Shiori sleeping on Gero's shoulder" basis! Yes, women probably DO appreciate a man that can cook Gero, but Shiori dressing up as a Magical Girl and putting on a yakisoba magic show is even better! She may have gotten yakisoba poured over her hat, but she looked so cute. Dang, talking about babies being sacrificed and eaten by a supernatural entity? I guess that's a good way to set up a Test of Courage. And the forest they'll be walking through in said Test of Courage has already been weaponized into a killer sound system by the Sound Master.

LOL Why was Mitsuhiko lifting Gero, Kinosaki and Shiori seated on chairs attached to a huge ring weight? That was so bizarre. That is an impactful introduction to him, and lol did he also draw on a necktie to have some of office wear resemblance?  I'm curious to learn the trick to Naruko's sound ability, I wonder if the building collapsing was also because of wires. I wasn't expecting him to involve the whole class to take out Shiori, I was concerned one of her classmates was going to be revealed to have died, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Gero took his cover story so seriously he got pretty immersed in his studies and became the lecturer's favourite student. Have to respect his dedication even if being a bodyguard wasn't his usual assignment. Naruko seemed to be a pretty tough master to overcome. Looked like his sound ability included a sort of mind control. He got his own client, Mitsuhiko, and a couple of the ladies under his control. However, there were no indications that the lads were affected. What were the limitations?

Random Thoughts Uh...yeah Gero I didn't need to see that party trick. Although that totes seems to be something the bugmaster would find hillarious Was getting cringe warnings from the Shiori's attempt to break the ice on the camping trip. Thank god it actually worked and was cute, not embarrassing. Bocchi the Target is cute, and as someone with social anxiety I get her. Although I think so far she has far less chemistry then shark lady, who at least seems to kind moving in the same sort of world as what Gero operates in, what with being a professional art thief/liberator Didn't have baby murder on my score card for this episode...hell this show Okay, anyone else notice that the Lord Chaldni flashback had the same glyph symbols as the ones that appear in the eyes of the people Sound Master is controlling? Between that and the "countdown" markings, I am wondering if that families special abilities might be supernatural, and thus requiring some sort of sacrifice. In which case Shiori might be intended to be the next sacrifice. At the very least, they seem connected. Sound Master isn't a lady, so he is fair play to get extra ass-kickings next week, because he doesn't have to add him to his potential dating roster

So Genya mostly uses his sounds to hypnotize his victims aside from killing them. I guess Mei was paid less as an Izakaya waiter. So Mitsuhiko is a fitness nut who carried Mei, Hikaru & Shiori's chairs in a ring. That introduction scene made cringe uncomfortably. At least the others found Shiori's trick entertaining & definitely enjoyed the yakisoba. At least Hikaru managed to impress the others w/ his cooking while also allowing himself to eat.

And... that answers the question of what you can do with 8 mugs of beer. No thank you, Gero. Adorable Shiori Mahou Shoujo. She did well getting out of her comfort zone. I'm hoping her magic tricks can get her out of the trap set by Sound Master. I'm already envisioning the voices in her head being so noisy they drown out whatever frequency Naruko tries to hypnotize her with. The Chladni patterns in his victims' eyes are a nice touch though.

I'm not sure what genre the OP's song is within the electronic space but I bounce in my seat every time I hear it. CEO's daughter is adorable, did not expect that. Pretty or hot maybe, but not adorable. Huh not the father hiring Gero. And once again anyone getting real screen time in this show is a fucking weirdo. What's with the tie tattoo? And oh no she's actually more adorable. Gero is doomed. Gero. Gero Gero Gero Gero. WHAT ARE YOU DOING MY GUY?! That's a end of the party trick not an ice breaker! Oh no it got WORSE?! So there's our sound master. And Gero has not met him before, though not overly surprising if you aren't friends with another master you wouldn't want them to recognize you. I don't know that I like this girl as a potential wife for Gero but I love her as a cute bean. Of course he'd have in depth product knowledge about a mix pack. Shit is his bread and butter. Sound master is getting super boring super fast. Super much so. And... she's a magical girl now? Wut? Yup, she's adorable. Please girl there are levels of saccharine no human should reach and you are dangerously close to crossing that threshold.
