Look, Gero, I know that the premise of the show requires you to faff about pretending to look for a potential marriage partner as a pretext for having a lot of cool and interesting adventures with awesome fights and all... But the search is over, mission accomplished. If he doesn't marry Kimie in the end, I can only assume it's because constantly injecting himself with poison has given him brain damage.

And the power of love (and friendship) proves to be the strongest once more. Like, I know the trope but considering the general theme, I think it works quite well here. Especially with them saying that Gero mutated so quickly because of the amount of dates he had in so little time. Which is kind of funny that it's just taken seriously. Though, I guess there is some truth to it considering that you can only grow if you take this step and try to date in the first place instead of just waiting for things to happen to you. With the amount of near death moments, Kinosaki's relationship level definitely increased I would say. However, it was good that Arashiyama had her moment as well. We never found out where her brother went in the end, so that might be left for a future plot point. And we got another potential love interest added to the mix right at the end? A bit sad that we probably don't get much of the other girls in the final episode (as that seems to be the epilogue of Arashiyama's story) as I would really like to see what the potential ideas are in the future. I will say one last thing since I saw it glancing over the comments: I know it's easy to say that the beast master was overreacting from getting a bat as main pet. However, people need to remember that the main core of the series is the whole clan structure with expectations set by the family and every character in their own way burdened by these expectations (either because they can't fulfill them or think more is expected). And the beast master is no different. With all the expectations weighing on him, this moment felt to him like he was made fun of by the head of the clan. Not only was he not "worthy" but they showed this publicly. Like just look what huge as wolf his sister seemingly got. That is why he was trying so hard to show his worth to his family. Like with every person in this show, a big factor is that they are born into a family where it's not about bonds but the worth you can provide to it. And if they think you can't then you are replaced.

Maybe the greatest poison was the love and friendship we built along the way. I'm really curious about his sisters' perspective on him and what happened. Was he effectively passed over for her since she got a better animal than he did? Did all the killing and plots he perpetuated help set her up to take over? Were they close as siblings at all? What does she intend to do with him and Byakko? And is she single?

Nevertheless, this is the common trend: family can be a curse on the Masters. Gero himself started his marriage quest as a way to save his sister from a forced marriage, because his family are also jerks in a different way. In that regard, the parallelisms between the two families are interesting. Gero and Tonako seem to have been the favored heirs, whereas Gero's sister and Toshiro were looked down on. But whereas this fueled Toshiro's hatred against his family, Gero and his sister remained each other's support. When Toshiro rails against "blood", memories of Akari make Gero disagree with him.

Tonako Dogo Jesus fucking Christ, Bones! The fight scene between Toushiro and Gero was so goddamn cool! I'm glad to see they're putting their MHA experience to good use, especially when Gero finally landed his finishing blow! I am glad to see that Kimie managed to get through to the other Beast Masters and manage to assist Gero in the fight. I just feel bad for them, considering they've already lost their partners after what Toushirou did to them 😢 So the reason Toushirou became who he is was because he was given a vampire bat? Really? I mean, I get that it's probably an insult compared to how majestic his sister's partner is , but a swarm of vampire bats would atually be terrifying. Speaking of Toushirou's sister, god daaaaaaaaaaamn! Not only does she have a cool giant wolf as a partner, but she's also a goddamn baddie. Hopefully, she's more peaceful compared to her brother. The Beast Clan is quick to appoint a new head tho.

Just to clarify, since I see some people being confused, Toshiro wasn't the actual head of the Beast Clan. He was part of the main family that controls the rest of the beast clan (the Dogos), so he's called a Beast Master. Similar to how the Gero family controls the Poison Clan. It's confusing since Tonako introduces herself as having just been made the new head, but she doesn't mean she got picked today, just that it hasn't been that long since she was appointed, so Gero wouldn't know her.

Kimie should have been one of the leaders or the spokesperson for the Beast Clan. She knows her hamsters are nowhere near the strongest, yet she completely trusts them as her animal partner. Whereas Toshiro doubted his bat partner and yearned for more power. Is Tonako going to be a potential marriage partner for Gero? I swear this title keeps upping the stakes for newly introduced female characters. Lol!

The winner is the one who's got the deeper, darker bloodlust? I thought it was the one with the sharper fangs! YOU LIED TO ME, ANIME! Does it only work with injuries and stuff? Technically, growing old also means getting closer to death! He could be one of these badass 90 years old we see in action shows! When your opponent in a PVP game pulls gacha during the match She's the only one he should've eaten to be honest I want... You to join our idol group! Hah, I thought something was off when we went a full 20 minutes without a bridal carry! We were missing something! I wasn't expecting the [title] Spice&Wolf crossover! So she's the new head of the Beast clan... ...And his childhood friend (right?) (And his next love interest?)

I complain about the fights last episode and get immediately proven wrong this episode as it showed they were saving budget to make this fight really good. Best and most visually impressive fight in the series by far. Toshiro may have been mad about it but a bat did fit him very well considering his future work with collecting and combining blood from other masters and members of his clan. I was concerned when they mentioned his poison would kill anyone he touched that it may potentially lead him to be unable to touch anyone directly from now on without killing them but while I doubt it’s always active Gero’s kindness has made his poison a non-issue. Thankfully he will be able to touch and hold Kinosaki as much as he wants and we wish too see. New beast master is a cool wolf lady. Gero just ask her on a date out of nowhere. I know it doesn’t fit you at all and Arashiyama and Kinosaki are right there but still it would be shocking and funny.

Gero has reached the pinnacle of his body as a Poison Master! All his fights across this season for the sake of others has given him the experience he needed to involve and create the ultimate poison within himself! And he's ready to unleash it on Toshiro! Hydra-Moles! That's a new one! You have to admire the creative animal combos if nothing else. Hundred-Beast Stampede! How is Gero going to survive against an attack that unleashes basically the entire animal kingdom on Gero in one blast...but Gero is fighting with the power of his search for happiness, all the friends and lovely ladies he met along the way, and his desire to find that special someone with Kinosaki. And as his body has turned into a corporal kodoku who can unleash the ultimate poison in one single burst of poison...SINGLE UNLIMITED BURST! I guess I have to respect Dogo being willing to throw away his humanity and become a true beast chimera if it means killing Gero, but his own bloodlust does him in as he charges at Gero head on...and Gero just jumps over him to tap him with poison! And you know you're screwed when you start losing all your senses and are basically running blind! This was all basically Toshiro's rage out against the beast clan, as such he'll rage out at Gero beating him by trying to eat his friends and Kinosaki...but he made another mistake! He underestimated the power of the Beast Masters, of Arashiyama, and the bonds the Beast Masters have with the animal companions he consumed! They all arrive thanks to Arashiyama to call forth their animal partners and stop Dogo in his tracks! All so Gero can unleash the coup de grace of smashing his head into the floor. Gero's not going to kill Toshiro because he's not fighting with rage or a desire to kill, because it's his humanity through his sister and the people he's come to know that defines Gero, not being a Poison Master or assassin. He'd rather work on DIY candy kits or get dating advice from Kinosaki. The irony that Toshiro went so far, killed a lot of the Beast Clan, because he felt being given a Bat as his animal partner was a personal insult to someone who should've been leader of the clan...even though the bat is the only person still standing beside him in the end. Well, the bat and a still alive (and still naked) Byakko. But neither of them get very far before they get caught in the jar of a giant wolf...from the new head of the Beast Clan, a beautiful, alluring, woman in black who is none other than Tonako Dogo...Toshiro's sister!

Reading the comments, I think some people may be misinterpreting something! He wasn't really angry because "he got a weak animal", he was angry for what that animal represents, i.e. they didn't want him as a leader and all! To make a comparison: It's like if the general gives you/the other officers some stripes, and you get 1 stripe while the others get 2, 3, 4... You're not mad because you think more stripes look prettier, you're mad because you're a sargeant while the others are majors and colonels!

So Beast Master Toshiro's rebellion and nefarious experiments all stems from an inferior complex of being given a bat, a supposedly weak beast, as his partner? He probably has never read Batman. Gero has managed to harness his ultimate skill to the point that he can control whether his blood is lethal or not to his opponent. Ever since recruiting Kinosaki to help him with his quest to find himself a bride, Gero has not killed anyone since that gang boss in the beginning of episode 1, and he does not intend to go back to killing. Arashiyama's effort to persuade the other minor beast masters was not in vain, as she appealed to their kinship with their fallen partners, whose spirits still reside inside Toshiro's Hyakko chimera form. By having them all call out to their spirits, Toshiro can no longer move his chimera form and is finally beaten Looks like Toshiro isn't in full control of the main Beast Clan, as it turns out they've decided to depose Toshiro and installed his sister Tonako as the new Beast Master, with her majestic white wolf familiar. But with one episode remaining this season, it looks like Tonako is probably just going to offer a truce to Gero and Piichi as thanks for them defeating Toshiro. You don't just introduce one of the Five Great Families and then destroy them so easily, after all.

The animation on the final Gero ult was honestly immaculate. I know this show is less about the fights and more about the friends Gero makes along the way, but interjecting a fight with backstory after every blow traded got a bit tiring this episode and even in the previous one. The fight against Water Master was a lot more satisfying to me because it was continuous, I wish they do a bit more of that in the future (like in Demon Slayer Entertainment District, the fight was a continuous 5 episode fight and then a dedicated backstory episode, made everything flow much better imo)

I'm not surprised Gero didn't kill Toushirou, when it kept being highlighted that he manifests what it does, it felt like Gero's personality would override the lethality. I do wonder if it's incurable, will Toushirou just always be poisoned by Gero? Like Gero can just will his death and the poison in him will turn lethal? Just an idea.  I did wonder if the prisoners would be the ones to kill him, he did take their partners and had them locked up. I also wonder if Toushirou will ever learn the real reason he was given a bat, quite the overreaction he had for not getting a big beast.  Byakko running away with Toushirou did feel like a "Toushirou is going to get taken out by a third party" vibe, but I wasn't expecting his sister to be the one that turns up lol. She's got that head of clan presence for sure.

For a moment, I honestly thought Gero hit bro with the ol “omae wa mou shindeiru” after unleashing that godtier poisoned blood attack. Turned out he just whooped him with the classic power of teamwork. I guess bro just got replaced as head of the clan. All that death and destruction because he was feeling insecure about his itty bitty wittle bat? Dude. You would think folks in the beast clan would realize sometimes the smallest animals can be the deadliest. Keen to see how things play out next week. Should be the finale ep iirc.

The beast master was meant to be the next head of the clan. But not only did they choose his sister over him (which would already be an "insult" in such a male dominated hierarchy), but they even made a "show" out of it by giving his sister a beautiful animal while he got a sickly looking bat. Yes, this bat was meant to be an insult to him. I think there are no ways around it. So it's less about him feeling insecure. It's that he felt he was seen as "unworthy", that he lacked the abilities to be the next head while also being shunned now by the rest of the family due to this "public execution" of his pride. Basically, he felt like he wasn't even seen as a worthy member of the family in the first place and therefore wanted to prove that this is not the case through his plan. That is why he still bonded with Byakko as well, because she also was more or less shunned by the rest of the beast clan.
