That was pretty fantastic, animation, especially Mimi. Yeah, I'm really surprised too about how good the show looks , especially after the rumors about its troubled production. But the side couple's fight was pretty good too. I'm glad that Ali and Lizzy also got their moment to shine, and not only Mimi . By the way, I hope that we'll delve deeper into that duo soon, as I found them pretty interesting couple .

Yeah, I'm really surprised too about how good the show looks , especially after the rumors about its troubled production. Yeah, and the studio behind it is pretty new and as far as I know hasn't really had any big hitters before, just Love is indivisible by twins and the Noto Peninsula Reconstruction Support Project (they're pretty real for that one) But they pulled out all the stops for this project, getting some big names on board like Jukki Hanada (script writer and series composition for Dangers in my Heart and Bloom into You, and creator of A Place Further than the Universe and Girls Band Cry) and Jin Aketagawa (Sound Director for 86, DanMachi and RE: Zero)

The sound direction I especially enjoyed this episode. I got to admit I'm not vibing as much with the casual soundscape, it's a bit too typically anime for what this story is. But everything about the magic soundscape is beyond perfect! Even the inclusion of more modern instrumentation does not feel out of place in this fantasy world because it emphasizes how otherworldly magic is and that you do not want to fuck around with it.

For some reason I had it in mind that Mimi was quite a bit younger than the other girls, so the degree of fluster was unsettling me. Was glad to be corrected by the dialog saying they were the same age. Not sure where I got the other idea. Probably something misheard in ep 1. This show looks to be a great one this season. Was already optimistic from the initial setup but the battle sequence here was tremendous.

Same. I checked the first episode and they say Classmates- She seems like ten Teacher- She is a new students in the class. She was ENROLLED at ten but she wans't part of any class yet Classmates- What? she is our age!? It isn't confirmed her age, but I guess she is whether actually 14 or maybe something like 12, so everything okay here [I guess she acts younger as her upbringing was't the best in teaching how to be a proper human]

Random Thoughts. You know...the animation was good, but I really had no clue that the action sequences were going to go that hard. Not that I am complaining I appreciate the trend of Yuri-themed shows actually getting to the kiss as well, what with Watanare last year and this show this year. Granted it's for "mana exchange" but still. Also, if kissing is needed for mana exchange, if this orphanage is Yuri land, that must mean the boy's orphanage that is adjacent to it is Yaoi land. I'm wondering now also if Mimi helping Sheena grow a new arm is going to significantly power up Sheena's magical powers...basically Mimi transferring some of herself into Sheena. Which might be a mixed blessing if it just means she is more likely to be sent out to fight.

Sheena's delayed reaction to getting flustered from the kiss was cute! Interesting that the flower associated with them is the white clover . The first three leaves represent faith, hope and love, while the fourth leaf which represents good luck was not present. Sheena most certainly did not have good luck this episode. Sending these kids to an active warzone for training is crazy. Mimi is OP, as expected of the cutest war criminal, but her fighting style is pretty reckless though. Ali and Seiran are very in sync, they must know each other well. How dare that guy call Mimi a monster. Mimi is unusually composed though; didn't even get rattled when Sheena got disarmed, she's certainly seen some shit. Hold up did the nurse just imply that she kisses everyone in the school? Mimi just learnt about healing magic and she's already putting it into practice. How nice, I'm sure they'll have many more opportunities to do it again in the future, probably won't be the last time Sheena loses a limb.

Sheena is living in a psychological horror/drama/war story, while Mimi is living in an action comedy. And the best part is the only real difference is how they perceive and react to their circumstances, the underlying circumstances are the same for both. Unrelated, but we really have been blessed with some incredible yuri these past few years. Shows, movies, and even casual queer characters in series that aren’t explicitly yuri.

Those sparks around the flowers has me wondering if Mimi pumping magic into Sheena through the kiss is going to be a jump start to Sheena's magic battery. If so they'll have to kiss lots and lots to keep her battery running I guess Mimi loves her rice so much. Mimi going from god mode murder queen to licking her lips is so fun. At first I thought the red flame was Sheena's power awakening but no it was an enemy. Oh shit. Okay seriously wtf is Mimi. Man Mimi really seems to love Sheena's lips. For a doomed Yuri this story is way too cute the rest of the time.

I did also get the impression that Sheena might be getting stronger through all this kissing. Mimi was in fact pouring lots of magic into her. And the teacher’s words at the end of class suggested that each person got a certain limit of mana to spare. Sheena’s “battery” might just always be close to empty. Though, we didn’t really any major improvement in Sheena’s performance during the mock battle - after the first kiss.

We didn't see Sheena do better in the mock battle but we never saw her attempt a spell either. Felt like her assumption that her magic is still trash kept her from attacking any of the mock battle enemies. As for the teacher comment, I took that as mana is like stamina. Based on your limits you have to rest and recover after using it. Though does it also work like stamina in that the more you use it the more you have (with genetic limits similar to athletes vs normal people)? Something I'm sorta wondering as I write all this, is Sheena accidentally using her mana somehow to keep herself empty? Because everything about this story screams Sheena's going to get a lot stronger than she is now. The two most obvious routes are Mimi making her stronger through Yuri kissing or just generally discovering her own power that she's not using properly for some reason. Best part is nothing so far is making me confident which it is.

It's adorable watching Sheena think about Mimi's kiss. She's so distracted that she literally can't think of anything else. It almost makes you forget that these kids are all child soldiers who are being trained to go to war for their country. I also love the hairbrush scene. It's so cute how excited Mimi is about her hair getting brushed, then she suddenly hits you with a grim line with a massive smile on her face. The mock battle was so goddamn cool! It's hilarious to see how careful some of the students are , trying to get a drop on the targets while Mimi just tears through the battlefield and goes absolutely apeshit on her targets. No wonder she was covered in blood the first time we saw her. She finishes off her targets in close range! Despite being all adorable, watching Mimi lick her lips after getting her first kill pretty much confirms that she's an absolute battle maniac. This girl lives for this shit. And then we get to see how a normal duo operates with Seiran going in close range and Ari providing long-range support. Not as flashy as Mimi, but they were effective. And it seems that finishing off your target at point-blank is not a Mimi-only thing. Holy shit. I mean, I had a feeling something was gonna go wrong during training but, I did not expect a survivor from the last battle in that forest to survive and cut Sheena's arm off. What the fuck, Omi-sensei? You had a magical mini map and you didn't scan the area for any stragglers before starting the mock battle?! Episode 2 and we're already at Sheena and Mimi's second kiss! At this rate, we'll probably get one kiss per episode. Also, good to know magic can regenerate limbs . We won't have any crippled magical girls in this anime. That is one gnarly scar tho! Even tho she seems to act cold towards her students, it's good to see Omi-sensei cares a lot. With a job like hers, it's good to know that she hasn't completely closed off her heart. So is Mimi's restoration magic unique? It sounds like Nurse Fran could've also regenerated Sheena's arm, but it sounds like Mimi did it so much better than her. Hmmm... Mimi conjouring up magic that can shred flesh so casually was actually pretty funny, especially when Sheena started to panic. And I'm not surprised tho that Mimi has already experienced getting her limbs severed before. The way she fights clearly makes her prone to injury. Boooooo! I thought we were gonna get a third kiss , but the episode ended there. I wanna see another one next week, but I hope it's not because Sheena got injured again.

Can the kisses restore eyesight or help your mental health? I did not expect we'd see an entire arm come off, or that this would be a series with limb loss. But given we met Mimi covered in the blood of her enemies, I'll expect much more blood to be spilled. Mimi is delightfully frightening in her abilities, yet she still needs help brushing her hair. Clicker train, Mimi, Sheena-chan!

And not even just in a NSFW way, I’d imagine simply having the person you love sleeping next to you would do wonders for Sheena given how mentally troubled she is by her entire situation. It doesn’t hurt that Mimi is also incredibly cute and adorable and probably feels really soft to hold. Hell, the end credits scene already showed us as much with Sheena and Mimi falling asleep laying on each other.

If I must summarise this episode in 1 sentence, it will be: Mimi is so cute!!! The episode starts with the adorable scene where Sheena was reminiscing the kiss she'd had with Mimi the night before, to the point that she couldn't think of anything else. Honestly I didn't expect the fighting scenes would be this good. The overall quality is high, and Mimi's performance in the mock battle is spectacular. More restoration magic (kiss) from Mimi! This time it's actually used to restore the entire lost arm of Sheena. I didn't expect Mimi could use restoration magic to this extent, given that she had only observed people casting the restoration magic for the first time during the last episode. I can't wait to see more restoration magic in the next episode!
