It is but the fact it keeps getting solo camera time (instead of say just being worn by Ari) feels like it has plot significance and not just a memento for Ari. Someone suggested before that something about that necklace will be enough of an anchor to allow revive magic like was used on Mimi and the fact they keep showing it prevents me from letting go of my fear of Ari doing that, even if she did say the right thing before about not wanting to make Seiran suffer with knowing someone killed themselves for her (and that she'd then be immortal).

That last scene felt very important, but not just because of the kiss. Mimi pretty clearly told Sheena that she wants their friendship/relationship to be more "equal". She doesn't just want Sheena to take care of her, worry about her, and help her deal with coming back from deployments. She wants to help and support Sheena too, just like Sheena supports and helps her. Feels like a pretty big step to change the dynamic between them.

Wanting to be useful is good , but never forget to give your wife some attention, or she will be extra clingy and pouty. In public!? Think of the other children, Sheena! Jealous Mimi is cute! Even if I'm worried she might stab someone. Oh, she is a girl? Or maybe not? Honestly, I'm more confused now about what Haru identify at. Honestly, this scene feel like Mimi is starting to see Sheena romantically. Even if she doesn't fully get it yet. Like, I know they kissed before, but this is the first time it feel like there is more emotion behind it.

Unless I’m mistaken it’s just Hal prefers to dress more like a boy, which some people treat as weird and don’t interact with her. Could be she has complex feelings about gender that don’t conform with the more rigid society but is a bit too early to tell. Either way, there seems to be a small friendship starting between the three (even with Mimi’s jealousy), which is likely a good thing given Hal’s isolation.

This is in part colored by my own experience, but from how that scene was framed it feels like Haru/Hal is a trans man but either isn’t out about that yet or might not even fully realize it themselves, hence being referred to as she, and limits themselves to solely dressing in a masculine manner for the time being. Their reaction to Mimi’s comments didn’t feel like someone expecting criticism for how they dress, it felt more like someone being outted and bracing for an attack on their entire identity.

We saw more of jealous Mimi this episode. It's painful to see Hal always being sick. I really thought Hal was a boy dressed as a girl when I saw her in the uniform until Mimi pointed out that she's actually a girl who sometimes dresses as a boy. Sheena said that Mimi's heart isn't clouded like the others but it doesn't seem to be the case now 'cause all Mimi thinks about now is Sheena and her well-being. Why do they scare us like that ? Though we know nothing's gonna happen for them when they fall from that height, it still made me panic. Peak kiss 💖 I guess Sheena should get herself hurt a lot to get those healing kisses very often.

A romantic kiss in the most dusty basement of the school, the way its framed feels kind of melancholic . Anyway, I think Mimi was just jealous and wanted to kiss lol, maybe one day they'll do it without needing the healing. Wonder what they're planning for Hal, like how are they going to send this fragile kid to the battlefield? Sheena's healing magic? Also, interesting that Hal turned out to be crossdressing. New flowers on Mimi and Sheena's table .

Seeing Ari sitting alone still stings. I really wish she would hang out with Mimi and Sheena more. 😢 After all the sadness these past couple of episodes, it's actually nice to see Mimi being silly and a pain in the butt while Sheena is trying to concentrate on her healing magic. We get to see Haru again! Also it turns out that his name is actually Hal . It seems the subtitler made a mistake when Hal was first introduced back in Episode 5. I checked Episode 5, and it looks like they still haven't corrected that mistake. Looks like someone's getting jealous after watching Sheena take care of Hal. I can understand how Mimi feels. It's just been the two of them most of the time, so seeing Sheena take care of someone would make Mimi feel jealous. I can definitely see Mimi giving Sheena those hairstyles if she let her mess with her hair. Honestly, the middle one doesn't look too bad! OH! Hal is a girl who dresses up like a boy! Not gonna lie, considering how Mimi was clearly being jealous of Hal , I thought Mimi didn't like her. Mimi actually thinks she's cool and even wants to own a pair of shorts just like Hal. Also, the lack of reaction from Sheena probably means she already knew that Hal is also a girl? She probably figured it out when she assisted Hal to the girls' dormitory instead of the boys'. And look at how happy Hal is after Mimi told her that she looks good in boys' clothes. She probably gets a lot of weird looks from other students for dressing up differently. We only have three episodes left, but I hope we get to learn more about her. That library basement scene was definitely needed! I'm glad Mimi got to open up about her feelings and tell Sheena how she really feels. And the restoration magic kiss makes a comeback! I was worried we wouldn't see it again until maybe the final episode.

While Ari’s isolation is potentially concerning hopefully it’s just that she needs so time alone to process her own grief. I like how the show has handled the tone the past several episodes. Episode 6 was full of suspense and anxiety from all of Seiran’s death flags. Episode 7 continued that for most of the episode, finally convinced you that Seiran would actually survive at the end, only to quickly snatch that hope away from you at the very end. Then episode 8 forces you from shock and numbness at the loss to sadness and pain as you realize the severity of the loss. Episode 9’a tone is painful at the start and then lightens up a bit as it explores how Seiran’s death influences Sheena to change as a person. Now episode 10 had a pretty lighthearted tone throughout the entire episode as it mentions that everyone is adjusting to their new lives without Seiran. They aren’t back to normal like it didn’t happen, but time moves on and they keep living their lives. The show really makes the tone conveyed to the audience match with that current state of the characters. Agreed, that middle hairstyle actually looks decent. Nice catch that Sheena probably realized Haru was a girl when taking them back to their dorm. I didn’t realize that. Though I’m not sure if Haru would actually identify as a girl by choice. Their reaction felt a bit more severe than you’d expect from someone who simply was gender non conforming.

A lighter (sort of) episode this time, hmm? Fine by me. This series always keeps me on the edge, so a little breather is appreciated - even if last week's episode wasn't really that heavy. That said, Mimi falling down the stairs did give me a scare, but since we got a cute and wholesome yuri moment afterwards, it's all good. It's understandable that Mimi isn't the biggest fan of Sheena dedicating her time to practicing her magic, instead of dedicating that time to her, but her being possibly jealous? Didn't expect that. And man, seeing Ari sitting alone still feels really sad and not right at all.

Another restoration magic by Mimi on Sheena? However, this time the latter's fully conscious. Afterwards, their faces looked flushed while they breathed heavily. I'm fairly confident those weren't the magic's side effects. Praise the yuri gods for blessing us with this! Mimi had always been stuck to Sheena, but she's even clingier than usual this episode. Poor Sheena even got overwhelmed and had to boot her out. Looked like Mimi and Sheena had made themselves a new friend, even if she's a bit tsundere about it. Hal was self-conscious about her outfit choice but Mimi said there's nothing weird about it. After presumably countless number of times she got shamed, someone had finally validated her.

Yeah, I did notice they both did seem especially hot and bothered after the kiss this time. You can read several of Mimi’s scenes regarding Sheena this episode as simply jealousy but I think that additionally Mimi might also be starting to realize she has actual feelings for Sheena, especially after that classic windswept shot of Sheena and Mimi after Sheena mentioned wanting to work hard to get Mimi to think she was cool. Like I mentioned last episode, I think the loss of Seiran has given Mimi separation anxiety regarding Sheena.

That title had me so paranoid for the whole episode, especially when they fell, instead it was a overall sweet wholesome episode about Mimi feeling jealous and worried about the distance Sheena was putting between them by trying to get better at her magic. Whenever anime has characters like Hal I never know what to think. Am I supposed to assume they are trans but the culture in japan doesn't want to go that far or should I take it at face value that she's just a girl who prefers boyish clothes. It definitely comes across like he is trans but they still call him "her" and "actually a girl". I've had anime fans yell at me before for calling characters like this trans because very few anime go all the way like how One Piece did it with Kiku calling herself a girl at heart.

Wow. I think I'm starting to get a yuri-attuned sixth sense. This really picks off from last episode, where we see Mimi get a more realized sense of self. When Mimi started to get jealous without realizing it, I immediately thought, "Oh? They're finally doing it for Mimi?", and then with the whole scene of their conversation in the courtyard (?), with a very in-your-face focus of the white flowers (reminiscent of course, of lily/yuri) in bloom, I deadass had a Gundam Newtype vision in my mind (except without the signature sound), and an idea popped up instantly: something intimate is coming. And then the ending scene rolled around I just \ chef's kiss** mwah. A full bloom of a garden of lilies in my mind. Thank you, world. Thank you for yuri. Thank you, yuri.

Listening to her I was like holy shit she’s crazy, I love it Some other dubs I really liked were May I Ask For One Final Thing and Tsukimichi (the same VA voices Scarlett and Sophia in those, she’s great). I also really liked the dub in Arifureta, but that show was kinda dragged down by the….intense….harem focus, and edginess, lol. I’ll give it points for being self aware about the edginess but uh, it was something

Historians will say they were restoration-mates So, we're getting a full episode focused on building up Mimi/Sheena... Which one dies next? Or maybe it's Hal! Damn. "The new normal"... Nothing is normal about their situation, but people dying is something they have to get used to. The injuried... Or the dead? (Or the living dead?) Mimi's getting a bit jealous of Sheena spending time with others? She better not turn Yandere, no one would survive! Hah, nurse expects her visits now! Child labor! (Wait, they're also using child soldiers. Maybe child labor is preferable!) Mimi acts like such a child in these moments hah. Are we there yet? How much longer? Here I'll help you so it's over faster! With Sheena making her wait outside, Hal saying she's in the way... Is she also feeling like she doesn't have a real place? Says the girl who sleeps through classes, and doodles on her exam instead of answering the questions! 12? These doodles weren't SO bad! (And she wrote her name right!) I know Sheena's not a frontline soldier and all, but why would you try to Deathflag her anyway?

Mimi: i might be a jealous ass gf but I'm certainly not transphobic 😊 Whether or not hal actually turns out to be trans or just cross dressing, it's cool that that gets seen too So I'm still a bit confused on restoration magic vs healing magic. Mimi restoring a whole arm is restoration magic, i get that. But what is she restoring when healing a simple scrape? Wouldn't that be something for sheena, if she knew how to? This kiss certainly feels a lot more romantic than the one in ep 1. Although mimi is gonna have to figure out how to give sheena some alone time, at times she feels more like a clingy child than a clingy gf. And i get she's just this immature but something's gotta give

How I see it or how it's loosely describe in the show is. Restoration magic is something you're born with, think of it like your bodies natural regenerative abilities. How fast your limbs will heal when broken, stuff like that. It's not something you can improve by any means. You're either born with a high amount like Mimi or very little (Hal for example who gets sick really easily). Restoration magic magic doesn't "fix" things either. Think of it like a time reversal spell, you're bringing an object back in time to a point when it was at it's "full glory". So for example if you had a scar on your arm and lost it when restoration magic is used on the arm to bring it back the scar will still be there. Healing magic is not like that as it heals not only physical wounds but the "soul" as well. Healing magic is something everyone can learn but there is a natural "aptitude" to it. Basically while everyone can learn it depending on your aptitude is how easily you will be able to use it. For example, Mimi's mom was so good at it that she was even able to use the resurrection spell which we now know is very prone to failing and killing the user. Which is why healing magic is somewhat rare, it takes a lot of time to "brute force" your way to learn it when you don't have the aptitude for it. A really good example is in Avatar. Aang struggled to learn earth bending because earth is the natural opposite to air. So his body was naturally repelling it which is why it took him way longer to learn. Healing magic goes by this same principal in some areas.

I really thought that Mimi was about to say/do something bad out of sheer jealousy, but she actually gave some encouraging words to Haru instead. However, I’m not per se relieved either. Mimi is dealing with unfamiliar feelings. If she keeps bottling those feelings up, they’ll eventually burst out all at once. Best-case scenario is a k… some “restoration magic” like in today’s episode, but other possibilities worry me. After all, Mimi can get a little too carried away at times.

It's definitely a possibility she's bottling her feelings up in a bad way, but I think the opposite is also a definite possibility. Just look at the way she communicated with Sheena after Sheena rejected being healed. Maybe it was a little accusatory and pushy, but she pretty clearly stated that she thought Sheena was being unfair and that she wanted to help her, like Sheena always helps her. I think Mimi is surprisingly good at communicating about these things, but her current feelings are probably too confusing for her.
