They compromised, had fun with strawberries, and bathed together! It's moments like the ones in this episode that leverage the scope and title of the show. I remember one issue someone recently commented about the show is that the leads are not really doing anything to contribute to the direction of the plot (i.e. asking questions, investigating, working towards solutions). But there's a reason why the show is titled "I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day" and not "I Want to Fucking End This War." The moments in this episode are one of the strong points of the show: having Sheena and Mimi wrestling with their emotions, and the wholesome parts provide that special glimmer of hope in a dark world. Unfortunately, one episode left.

Okay it was great that Mimi and Sheena made up, but the strawberry jam making session was way too cheerful, I don't trust this show not to hurt us. Flower language In Ari's room while talking to Mimi . Dahlia, symbolizing enduring grace, inner strength, elegance, dignity, eternal commitment and lasting bonds. Instead of the more common variety of dahlia, they used a specific type called a single dahlia because Ari is single now. While Sheena is thinking of how to apologize . Bellflower, symbolizing gratitude, sincerity, humility and everlasting love.

I'm so glad to see Mimi approaching Ari for advice. I'm also glad to see Ari is doing well. I've been worried about her these past few episodes, but she seems to have finally reached the acceptance stage of grief. Ari may have lost Seiran, but as long as she keeps her in her memories , she'll live on. And Ari isn't the only one with those memories; Mimi and Sheena have them too . But man, not gonna lie, it still hurts seeing those flashbacks of Ari and Seiran living in peace. 😢 Esther-senpai's gift to Mimi was pretty funny. I kinda wish Sheena took it instead of just a handful of candies. My heart rate genuinely went up, when that teacher came back without Mimi and Sheena decided to go on a rescue mission to retrieve her. I was expecting the worst to happen, so I was so relieved when Sheena found Mimi and healed her with a kiss. I love how Mimi got so excited to see Sheena up again , only for her expression to change when she remembered that they're still fighting. I'm happy that the girls found a middle ground, though. Mimi can keep on fighting the way she does and Sheena will continue her magic practice. It's not the best solution, but it's what works for them. Mimi wanting to have a do-nothing day was adorable! I mean how can you even say no to that face? And I just love the hard cut to Sheena and Mimi on the bed together. 😆 Although it looks like they failed their do-nothing day since they ended up spending the rest of the day making strawberry jam. We even got an insert song by Mimi and Sheena singing as a duet! That final scene with Omi and Fran-sensei tho. It seems Omi-sensei is worried that Mimi is developing her self-awareness , while Fran-sensei thinks that's exactly what Mimi needs. I think Fran-sensei really just wants Mimi to develop as a person. Even if she ends up outliving Sheena, Ari, and everyone she made friends with, these are all important for her growth and what she needs as a person.

I mean, realistically, what is the solution they can offer? They can't really quit being part of the system, because there is a chance that they will be replaced by someone who doesn't really care about the children (and in Fran case, replaced by no one since healers are rare). I personally would take the children and run, but I don't think that's really a choice either is willing to make as characters, this is still their home country, and that would essentially ensure everyone else will be wiped out. So, their choices are: A) Stay and try to minimize casualties. B) Leave to at least not be involved in this system. C) Try to run away with the children (which might fail) and basically let the enemy invade and kill God know how many people.

It's true there doesn't appear to be a perfect solution, but Fran's cryptic way of meddling without ever actually expressing a clear opinion or plan ends up feeling pretty frustrating. If the moral math is too complicated for her to find a solution, why does she think Sheena, a child, can? It would be one thing if Omi and Fran had discussed this on-screen and articulated why they can't change things, with the implication being that maybe Mimi and Sheena can, but without that, they just end up feeling like they're outsourcing a horrible ethical dilemma to children in their care who are not equipped to deal with any of this at all.

You want the truth I don't think were the good guys here. I have no manga knowledge at all but what I do have is pattern recognition and the side that send children to fight what seems to be a force of adult men is not going to be the "Good Guys". This is a lost war one side still has magic soldier all fighting age men the other down to sending in children which is famously the last thing you do as your pruning the next generation of your civilization damming you even if you win. Whatever this war "Our "side refuse to surender a war they clearly lost can only mean the leadership done enough truely evil things they know the gallows is what they'd face. The only other logic conclusion is the enemy seek total genocide but to be frank that seem the unlikely outcome because if they did they'd be much more destructive. If this was a war of attempted geocide you'd expect the enemy side to 100% set the forest on fire as one example to end this cat and mouse battlefield where their superiour numbers have the disanvatgae. If the former the case they could help stop deployments from the school their no military seemingly on school groups their deploying students they could do so under the agreement of favorable terms of surrender

Hard to believe we're at the penultimate episode. How time flies... Is it exaggeration to call this episode a bit of a rollercoaster? Like, there's a bit of everything; Sheena & Mimi feeling conflicted about their fight, Ari's flashbacks and happy memories, Sheena witnessing the horror a battle(field), her and Mimi making up and the happy insert song. This episode definitely felt like it could have well been the finale, so now I'm wondering how that'll turn out...

When you're all happy to see your wife, but then you remember you're having a fight Yayyyyy! ...Oh right. Sheena's newfound determination is all very inspirational... til the day she dies; This is the scary part, I mean, thinking of this from the perspective of her entire life (til her death); If she starts taking things more seriously and all, but either she goes into battle, to save Mimi (or the battle comes to her), then her entire life was... Staying behind the lines, letting others do everything for her, losing people... And then she met someone, got motivation to try and get better to be useful, and then she fucking dies, all this was for nothing. Well, I'm not sure how true that is, but when that's all there is to cope with the situation and not go insane... They're like an old married couple at this point, always bickering, and then talking about it to their friends! She got some insight from the Ari/Seiran little fights as well; Well of course I will get a cold, if I have to sleep without my heat source...! She might get quite a few colds from now on Well yes, sometimes on her own, sometimes in a bodybag! I know Mimi's hard to keep up with and she does whatever she wants, but you'd think they'd have a better system in place than 'their 1 guy getting ambushed so a non-combatant has to go find Mimi'... Considering Mimi's the only thing that's preventing a complete annihilation, they might try to support (and rescue) her a little more seriously! At this point, there has to be so many horror stories about Mimi in their camp... Do they know the full extent of what she is? Do they have some sort of plan or are they just sending a million soldiers against her in the hope that somehow they take her down someday? Sheena and Mimi tried to patch things up, but there's a couple things they'll likely never agree on... Doesn't necessarily mean they have to keep fighting about it forever though, they can accept to not agree on everything, and stay together anyway... Problem is, Mimi might not have the maturity level to accept that 'sometimes things aren't perfect but they're still worth having' and all! She's much rather have Sheena be her housewife! Well she won't IF YOU STOP GIVING HER DEATH FLAGS! So they're having a little off day, doing nothing all day long! Historians will say they were donothingmates This is all too happy; Come on, Kimishinu, hit me with the pain, I'm ready! Hah, glad they address this; I've been talking about this all season! Well, it depends what the primary goal is; "For Mimi to have a fulfilling, normal childhood"? Then yeah, it's a good thing. "For our murder-machine to keep operating at 100% so we don't get utterly annihilated by our enemies"? It might not be a good thing. They do seem to be concerned about her from a human perspective... I mean it's nice of them of course, but I can't be the only one looking at the big picture here! I mean, that might be the utilitarianist in me, but when the only weapon you have to survive is Mimi, you might not want her to go soft or refuse to fight or try a bit less etc.. and then you get wiped out. It's all fluffy and good that she gets to have a friend , but she won't have anyone anymore if she stops fighting at her 100% and they get run over and everyone's executed, soldier or not.

I think the show's message is basically that it wouldn't be for nothing, though. Yes, dying would absolutely suck, and Mimi would obviously be devastated, but after Sheena met Mimi, she actually started taking steps toward living the life she actually wants to live. And the time they've shared so far is obviously way too short, but Mimi's memories of them are still the most precious memories she has. They have both improved each other's lives so much, and even if that were to end suddenly and tragically, it would still "be worth it", so to speak.

Sheena herself said "was this just a dream" when she woke up, but on the other hand I'm wondering why she was in that bed to begin with. It looked like she had some bruises (unless I'm remembering wrong), so I'm choosing to believe it wasn't a dream (even if we probably should have seen a reaction by the teachers in that case) Oh and if it wasn't a dream, it's crazy how close to the school all of this is happening...

I think the dream/rescue mission was poorly written whether it was a dream or not. If it was a dream it has other issues aside from wasting the character moment. It doesn't make sense for her to wake up in a bed; the nurse would have either woken her up or just put a blanket over her. It doesn't make sense that Mimi would run over to Sheena like that unless she was worried about her. However, if it wasn't a dream it's not better. It doesn't make sense that Sheena was able to find Mimi faster than the people who were actively pursuing her when she had no idea where she was. It doesn't make sense that they only have to dodge a single attack and then they make it back fine. It's weird that it's not brought up the rest of the episode. Whatever the case they could have at least made it clearer. If you ignore that completely out of place scene though it's a good episode.

Yeah, the more I think about it and read from others about it, the more I'm inclined to believe that it wasn't a dream. Like sure we have reasons for it to be a dream, but we can counter them as much. She still woke up in a medical bed. She has no bruises nor signs of having been from a combat zone because healing magic literally exists. This has been shown to us countless times with how Mimi could come back from fighting all squeaky clean. She didn't exactly find Mimi immediately. Her eventually turning out with bruises on that sequence is their way of showing the passage of time. Quite a bit of searching and struggling would've already happened by the time she found her. They likely just didn't have the time to show more in one episode. And most importantly, as other comments have already pointed out Such an action would've been a big moment for Sheena's character. So why should it be a dream? The point about Mimi not bringing it up because she wanted them to get along also makes sense. Their teachers probably did the same for their sake.

Another awesome episode although this not being the finale is kind of ominous. Something bad could happen and I do have a few ideas although I’ll let it play out. Who knows might be another calm down episode just like today’s but we have to wait and see. Also just wanted to mention that I’ve really loved the character development for Fran and Omi. Really didn’t trust either of them at all during the first few episodes especially Omi she felt kind of heartless but now I’ve grown to love both of them. Another thing is the music which is incredibly good. Ignoring the great opening and ending theme the music in general throughout this anime has been awesome it’s elevated every single scene.

A strong relationship is not one that manages to avoid arguments, but one that went through heaps of them yet remained unwavering. Bless Ari for imparting that important lesson into Mimi. For most of the time, it's Mimi who had been protecting Sheena but now we got to see the other way around. It took courage to just rush in to the frontline without any backup, knowing she'd be helpless. We even got to see Sheena perform the restoration magic! Happy to see them reach a compromise and diffuse this argument. The strawberry-jam-making scene was just what the doctor ordered after the heavy arc. After the angst, comes the fluff. Everything's resolved for now, but I have a feeling next week's finale would feature a massive bombshell that would severely disturb the status quo. Would we be ready for it?

Okay, are we getting a marriage ceremony in the last episode? Seriously though, I'm happy to see we're still focusing on the right things for this story. Sheena's motivation for wanting to get stronger (did you know her former roommate thought she was weak?) Mimi's development from an isolated "secret weapon" to a girl with a will and desires of her own. The overarching theme of love being something beautiful, even if you know that it will end at some point, and that there will be bumps and roadblocks along the way. Curious how this will wrap up next week, because I'm not holding my breath for a season 2, although I would love to see it.

Sheena and Mimi duet insert song as they make jam is so wholesome, but it also gives me so much anxiety, expecting bad stuff to happen later. The teachers talking about how Mimi will lose Sheena one day no matter what. When she risked her life to rescue Mimi earlier in the episode as well and adamantly refused to stop improving her magic it gives massive death flags for her. I thought the enemy army knew that Mimi was immortal but the ones in this episode talked about mimi being on her last legs, so they think they can actually kill her. I wonder what they really think especially the ones who cut off her limbs etc. They think she is just a monster who refuses to die from sheer willpower until someone else heals her I guess.

Seeing Ari and Seiran be happy together in the OP every time and during flashbacks still hurts everytime. I'm glad Ari is able to talk about her memories of Seiran with a smile, but damn does it hurt "I want to make up, but I still don't think I said anything wrong. So I don't know what to do" Yeah, that's always really difficult, and I don't think anyone knows the right answer for that. It's a struggle every couple has to deal with. 2 people will never fully agree on everything, no matter how close they are. And quite often neither side is actually wrong, that's the inherent issue with opinions. I'm scared for next week. Please don't break my heart

It does seem the tradition in this school to not throw out the stuff of someone who has passed away, but instead hold on to it and give it away next gratitude day. Mimi and Sheena got the cute clothes from the white haired girl who had died last gratitude day for example. Her moving on but holding on to the memories of Seiran seems more in line with the theme that was brought up this episode. It's better to have loved and lost, than never loved at all. You'll bring their memory with you into the future

She really can't function without her momwife. lol Well, fuck you too... She is so silly, I wish she had more screentime. Ahh, these were so cute! This world is so cruel! I fucking knew that this will happen eventually! Glad she was able to save her without anything happening. I was bracing myself for the worst case scenario. Side note: I see some people thinking it's a dream, and it's obviously not? Sheena just passed out and was confused. Otherwise, why would she be just randomly sleeping in the infirmary with no explanation while Mimi was on her way bringing food for her? This scene was so fucking good! Especially that transition from Mimi standing alone bloody to her hugging Sheena! Rest of episode was also great with them just hanging out and making jam to that song. Nice final episode... wait, wdym there is one more....

Well at least this episode ended on a much lighter note than the last one And once again they pull the "did she get captured by the enemy" card. though a bit unclear if that part was a dream or not So we are going into the last episode with i guess nothing major going on, which means maybe a season 2? because i don't think they are gonna get much done in the way of story in the last episode but rather build upon a possible continuation..?

Is it just me or did Mimi look absolutely gorgeous in that shot of her and Sheena flying through the air? Likewise I thought she looked really pretty with the ponytail and hair buns later in the episode. It makes me wish we got more hairstyles for her. I really liked how they handled Mimi and Sheena’s argument this episode. Just like last episode the way Sheena and Mimi treat each other in this one doesn’t change as a result of the fight. They still make it clear that they care deeply about each other every time they interact. The actual resolution has handled pretty much like how I thought it would be. Sheena accepts Mimi’s sacrifice to protect Sheena and the others, and Mimi accepts that Sheena will keep practicing her magic and getting stronger to protect Mimi and the others. They’ve built a relationship built on mutual protection, very wholesome. I really liked their do nothing day as well and Sheena being convinced by Mimi’s puppygirl eyes. They may not be an official couple but that whole segment had immense couple energy, and they both definitely needed a stress free day.
