I was having the exact same thoughts. How dumb does a ruler have to be to do that? And then she gave a bunch of childish reasons like "she would tell me no", "you made the final call after all". They are her children, in line for the throne in her kingdom. Meanwhile, her husband is doing all of the administrative work a ruler is supposed to do, so he clearly is the competent one. It feels like the queen only holds the title because of lineage and her powers while being kept afloat by the king consort and Pride. They really need a parliament or senate in this kingdom for times like these when her precognition doesn't work.

Sigh. The first 9 minutes are a complete waste of time save for the intro. It's all irrelevant content. After the previous episode, I would have expected this one to start with an expedition of some sort as if they actual intend in addressing the problem. Instead you have a meaningless interaction with the prince and then she drops one of those lines she does before we're forced to watch another rendition of the game world. Something along the lines of "you'll come to hate me". Who's directing this? Stop having her make these unfounded claims based on what happened in the game. Are you going to make him lick your boots and kill your sister? No? Then why are you pretending like you are? She's doing this with everyone and she's been doing it since the first season. I was actually shocked to discover that I was already about a third through the episode by the end of that dream sequence. From what she's done to change this so far, since they're all on the scale of being able to change countries, I feel like it should be understood that some things in the future will just have to go along differently than the game, especially when your character is responsible for orchestrating much of it and you're not playing your role. I actually liked the rest of the episode. Probably could have had a better ending than "go study" if they didn't waste so much time with the other stuff. All that said, they likely get 12 episodes and are trying to pace to end at a specific event. Just sucks how things get stretched out. Also, I wouldn't be so critical if not for the inconsistencies in the MC. It's probably the only villainess I have an issue like this with save for Bertia, but she's not really the MC of her series.

In regard to the renditions of OG Pride, they are really superfluous, the only purposes they serve is to show the audience how evil she was, and to emphasize MC Pride fear of becoming her. The audience already knows how evil she was in the OG game timeline, and MC Pride already told us what happened. And we deviated so much from the original game’s story, that there’s no reason to fear MC Pride ever becoming like OG Pride. So the OG Pride evil scenes just end up being unnecessary.

Dude, getting to understand a character better isn't a waste of time. The whole reason we care what happens in the story is because of the characters that we've come to know. A bunch of Cedric's time on screen has been him failing, doing stupid stuff, being obnoxiously arrogant, and otherwise making a nuisance of himself. Reinforcing that he's got redeemable qualities actually does matter - it also gives insight into his character to see what Pride has to do to soothe him. He took a lot of convincing, which means he was completely despairing and expecting the worst even with Freesia becoming his country's ally . It shows how much he has been worrying and stressing over what's happening in his homeland. It shows that he cares deeply about his family. It shows he's not just a stupid prick. It took 9 minutes - that is so dang little.

So, Pride's ability is to be able to learn anything she sees - even if it's just once. Tiara's ability makes it so she can become great at anything and anything she's good at can effect others. That's why Pride, who can't boil water without burning it, can cook really well as long as she's touching Tiara. Tiara has to work for it, but her ability is why she could defeat old Pride. She can out OP her if she has the time and puts in the work.

Although I did expect that there were spies in Fressia when Copelandii decided to start their invasion earlier, due to that scene when Adam is told to act, I did not expect there to be seven spies in total. I love Pride’s expression when she realizes that it will be impossible for her to say no to Tiara’s request to also join the war. It is funny that the Queen left that decision to Pride to avoid either dealing with Tiara complaining about her being unfair, or Pride admonishing her for letting Tiara join the war too. And then comes Tiara to remind Pride that she was doing even crazier bullshit by herself when she was around her age. I love how everyone laughed at that exchange. Something that I found interesting was that when Pride was talking to Cedric from the other side of the room, she was talking about him hating her, not the other way around, which was indeed the case with Evil Pride, but not the current reality now. But her mentioning that makes it clear that one of the reasons she is helping him and his nation is to redeem herself, just like the personal angle there was when she was dealing with Erwin and Homer. Anyway, the alliance between the Fressia Kingdom and the Cerdis Kingdom is finally official. I’m glad that we did not have to wait until next week to see Pride bringing Arthur to help Lance. But as we could see that dark could leave his body when Arthur cured him, I’m guessing that he was either poisoned or cursed, which makes me suspect that they also have spies in their kingdom. I love how the first thing Lance did after waking up and being told about what had happened was to hit Cedric in the head. Well, now he can focus back on saving his kingdom , meanwhile, Cedric’s real nightmare begins as he will be forced by Pride to fucking study.

Well, I can understand why Cedric is spiraling over the state of his brother and kingdom...but who should show up at this door but none other than Pride! Pride still hasn't forgiven him, she might never forgive him, she's only really doing this for his people above anything else...but she knows what it's like to be wracked with guilt and beating yourself up over things, so the least she can do is sit outside his door and hear out his pain, his grief, and let him cry while reassuring him that she and Freesia have his back. Everything will be okay. I can't believe it's taken this long for Pride to finally dream about what Heretical Pride did to Cedric. Did she hate Cedric THAT much? Though jeez, it's one thing for Heretical Pride to lord it over Cedric that she's going to invade his country, but she forced him to seduce and assassinate Tiara if there was to be any chance of freeing Cercis or Chinensis. THAT was the setup for the Cedric route. And to add the disrespectful cherry on top, she forced Cedric to lick her heels to seal the deal. Not the kind of foot fanservice I was expecting this season. Trust the system! Freesia has everything in place to help out Cercis and oppose Copelandii! They even have one addition: Tiara, who will be joining her big sister! Seems like Tiara is finally ready to step up and help out, even if it's just serving her sister in a supporting role. Finally strutting her Heroine status a bit. And the queen and Pride can both now commiserate over their shared inability to deny Tiara anything. Having Stale's teleportation for fast-travel is SUPER convenient, though now we get to see that Cedric actually CAN act the part of a proper prince when necessary! Also just as convenient is Arthur's healing ability to restore Lance to his sanity, and he immediately scolds and hits his brother which...yeah, no surprise there, Cedric kind of had it coming even if it meant well. In fact the only thing Pride wants from him is to study so he can stop being an idiot. Next week: everyone gets fancy new outfits!

Freesia is all kinds of OP. The queen and crowned princess can both see the future, a promising young knight is likely to become the strongest knight of all and can also cure anything, and the chancellor in training can teleport. They've also got plenty of everything - money, food production, goods, military - so that there's nothing to take advantage of them with. Even without the OP people in their ranks, they appear to be one of the most wealthy and powerful nations around.

I feel like your investment in this arc depends a lot on how you feel about Cedric, and I feel like a lot of people are like Pride in hating on him and only getting invested in this plot from an ethical standpoint which isn't a lot in my opinion. It's hard to buy that he was even an entertaining romance interest in the game but I guess the show is an entirely different context of series despite being set in the world of an Otome game.

Cecil is brilliantly written. A short 2 manga series with a full, rich set of characters each with outstanding backstories and personalities that is a beautiful work and deserves a second season. It left me wanting more. If converted to a webtoon it would be a massive hit again! That mangaka outwrote this author by miles. Literally. (Heh) 2400 webnovel chapters that my kid read and I have no desire to read any of it after watching season 2. If not for my kid, I woulda bounced and missed evil Prideo in Episode 4.

I found it funny how Pride and the Queen were lowering their voices, and yet everyone in that throne room could clearly hear the conversation they were having. Tiara was also right beside them as they were talking about their decision regarding her lol.  It's always a pleasure to learn what kind of messed up plans original Pride had for the actual events, what a terrible and humiliating position to be in for original Cedric.  I don't know if it's thanks to Arthur's healing hands or Lance just has good stamina, but I was surprised he recovered so fast that he was able to switch into big brother mode after the curse had been messing with his mind, and likely not letting him sleep lol.  Now that one of Cedric's brothers is saved, it's time to save Yohan. But looks Cedric has homework to do first lol.

Feels kind of stupid to send both heirs to the kingdom into the same harms way, but maybe they're trusting in Stale to always be able to teleport them together safety. Original Pride tasking Cedric to seduce Tiara and then murder her, she really was quite comically evil. I'm glad they did in fact bring Arthur with and have him heal the insane king, and considering that he went insane at a different point than originally I bet we're going to find out he was poisoned by the enemy nation. Looking forward to fancy uniform Pride next week, gotta love women in uniform.

Stale just said he can teleport anyone as long as he's in contact. Then what was with the people who were appearing in groups first lol. What is Tiara's plan exactly though? I understand she wants to experience the nitty gritty of the outside world but it's not like we've seen her training or anything. Just "not being in the way" sounds like a very weak argument for potentially going into war. All these episodes and I still don't understand Cedric's character. Probably the weakest character arc so far. Can Arthur stop with the blushing it's getting annoying istg.

Suppose Heretical Pride actually exists as a person or a disembodied Spirit. Could she possess Royal Pride and take over? So many things have actually changed I think this would be a good war of sorts but, where would our Pride go? Or maybe Heretical Pride possesses Tiara and then its sister vs sister? I don't know but, I think the Spectre of Heretical Pride exists as some kinda bad energy that is waiting to spawn. I don't want our Pride to lose of course but, I would like to see how that battle would go down and how she would defeat Heretical Pride. I hope we get another season, cause I really love this anime.
