This is the most likely scenario. Pride knows that it's only royal politics at play and that he's a womanizer who probably says those words to lots of women. There's little to no basis to assume that he's gay from this episode alone.

Leon hasn't even kissed her feet so he's way behind all the other guys when it comes to Pride. Despite being her "official" fiance he's not even the main guy of the game (which seems to be that long-haired blonde dude we'll also see this season).
Though I kind of feel a little bad for him if his own kingdom would basically disown him just for philandering with a bunch of women (not to absolve him of being a philanderer, but that doesn't mean he deserves what happened to him in the original timeline).
I feel like Pride's blushed more around Val than she has Arthur/Stale, though I might be mis-remembering season 1.

I think Val went for the head pat because of his punishment. I remember it was something like he couldn't do something that would harm her, or his feelings have to be pure, so I'm guessing he had impure thoughts, was stopped by the punishment and went for head pats.

That's very wholesome but I'm pretty sure Val is just really confused crushing on her but also is aware that it's impossible (and fucked up) to be feeling that way. Hence why he basically proposed, offering to literately kidnap her and runaway together but backed off and went with the headpat.
Now that I think about it I'm not really sure if it's ever actually been made clear just how much older val is than the main crew. He's definetly emotionally stunted because of how he grew up.

When we first find out that Leon is the first prince of an ally, I thought that was pretty strange. Since usually it's the 1st prince that inherits and he won't be able to do that if he marries into Pride's kingdom. We also learned that it's because of his womanizing that he's getting kicked out, but at some point Leon must have been warned of this outcome if he continued his ways. Yet evidently he continued, which suggests to me that Leon doesn't want to inherit his own kingdom for whatever reason. Anyway, this might be related to why Pride wants to save Leon. Also, considering all of Pride's allies are "good" people, I just don't see the author making Leon a true womanizer.

She thinks she'll be the evil Pride somehow and that there is an overarching game plot controlling things. This causes her to send worrying signals to those around her. That causes Arthur and Stale, who see her genuine distress and are aware that she can *see the future*, to *think* that she has foreseen that she will be forced to make a terrible choice for the Kingdom one day, one that could only be stopped by political assassination. They've committed to stopping anything like that from ever being necessary, without ever knowing what she 'foresaw'.
As far as we can tell, she can't actually see the future, and Pride was already evil as a child, let alone at age 16, without anything magical causing it. The queen is the only character who has made active reference to utilizing precognition during the anime so far. Pride seems to just pretend to, using game knowledge. Especially since, during the cave incident, she thinks to herself that it was really hard to navigate because, unlike other major events so far, it wasn't in the game.
(Which, btw, it would make more sense to me if she didn't believe in her ability to be queen because she doesn't have the Royal Precognition...)
On a similar note, she seems to think she has plot armor because she has to live long enough to be the last boss. I wonder if she just has really high stats/skill growth instead. The mechanics of this Last Boss Cheat have not been explained at all, and she seems....really dense with the line between 'reality' and 'game'.

I think that the future visions she gets (the dreams of the original timeline) basically force her into assuming that she has to keep working to prevent that future. If I remember correctly the couple of times when she let herself just be a kid with Stale when he was first adopted she got hit with even worse dreams and it terrified her to the point of asking him to kill her if she ever goes evil, which is just her go to line now on all her sisters (really her) love interests.
It's actually a pretty fucked story mechanic written out like that, the idea that she will forever be haunted by nightmares of a future that can't ever occur but she feels guilty for anyways.

Kind of confused by the fiance thing, I would have sworn the setup from S1 was that Stale was a weird combination adopted brother and future consort which was implied to be the same setup as Pride's mom and dad.
As far as Leon goes, I assume the real story behind the philandering rumors is just him going out into town to see the people up close which got turned into him going to brothels or some such. Since I think they said he was first prince but is being sent off in disgrace that sounds like a power play to get some other heir in.

I think Stale is basically a candidate for marriage if there's no other option, someone who will help keeping the royal family in-house, but in this case this arrangement was made solely by a diplomatic decision so Stale remains only as a helper in-house

I think this is right. It's a very weird royal family (which says a lot) setup. My reading of it is that the Royal Consort is essentially a backup king but trained to be prime minister. That way the family can judge when the princess hits adulthood, is it more important to stabilize politics at home or make alliances abroad? Ironically, pride has done such a good job politicking that her marriage abroad makes much more sense.

It was nice to see Pride again (she looked exceptionally good in that dress at the ball ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)) after almost three years since the first season. It was quite a surprise to me that the series was getting a sequel, but I was certainly happy about it because I liked the first one.
Overall, it was a good premiere episode. I'm very curious about what's the deal with Leon and what Pride will do with her engagement with him.
However, I hope Pride stops torturing herself with her being a villainess soon. I find it quite irritating, especially since she's completely different from the original Pride (who we saw again in this episode) and so beloved by everyone around her.

久しぶりにプライドが見られて良かった（舞踏会のドレス姿、めちゃくちゃ良かったな( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)）。第1期からもう3年近く経つし、続編が決まったのは正直驚いたけど、第1期好きだったから嬉しかったよ。
全体的には良い初回だった。レオンが何者なのか、プライドが彼との婚約をどうするのか、すごく気になる。
ただ、プライドが自分を悪役令嬢だと思い込んで苦しむのは早くやめてほしい。ちょっとイライラするんだよね。特に今の彼女は原作のプライド（今回再登場した方）とは全然違って、周りからめっちゃ愛されてるし。

IIRC, she 'incarnates' as Pride mere minutes before her parents die in a carriage accident, and stopping that was one of the very first things she did.
Which meant there was no "child tyrant queen" as her parents remained in power.
That, **alone**, would radically alter the timeline. But she didn't stop there and kept changing the timeline while acting with complete certainty that the same events would always play out.
Like... if this was one of those stories where the "hand of fate" was forcing characters to act "like they are supposed to" it would be one thing.
If she was losing control and would slip into "OG Pride" mode from time to time, that would be another.
But the only thing we saw were Pride having visions of what OG Pride's atrocities...
And New Pride giving literally everyone close to her some serious trauma by constantly begging them to put her down like Old Yeller.
Hell, two of her simps even talked about how fucked up it was that she keeps asking them to kill her... and how they would never even consider it.
Because of course they wouldn't! I'm not joking about how f*cked up it is to regularly beg the people who love you most to murder you while on your knees sobbing relentlessly.

And FWIW, I wasn't convinced by what was said. It still sounds really bogus, even with the added context, that there is a real possibility she'll just lose control to OG Pride. The series *really* undersells how fucked up that is.
EDIT: And even if there is some hard 'course correct,' just... HOW!? I wasn't kidding when I said Pride had radically altered the world by that point. All the characters are different because OG Pride wasn't there to break them down and give them all serious PTSD. And these new versions of the characters, including her sister, are all fiercely loyal to New Pride.
She's saved the lives of numerous characters, prevented so much trauma, removed every reason they would have to hate her, and kept them from being the broken, revenge-fueled messes that they were in the OG game.
Even if Pride were to be mind-controlled by "The Game/OG Pride" and start murdering people that should have already died... I feel all her allies would just fight to SAVE her, not kill her. They just wouldn't be able to accept OG Pride as the "real" Pride, as the heroic sweetheart that always does her best to help everyone is the only Pride they've ever known.

I am so glad this show is back; it was such a happy surprise when I heard that the second season got announced. Anyway, I find it kind of funny how the rumors that Stale found about Leon Adonis Coronaria didn't even last an episode, and he discovered that they were unfounded off-screen.
I love the contrast between Pride's reaction after meeting Leon and how things were between them when evil Pride was in control.
That scene with Val meeting Pride with Sefec, and Kemet was nice. Even when Val himself knew that Pride would not take his offer.
I was wondering why Arthur was reacting the way he was, so what bothered him were the fake smiles Pride and Leon were always wearing when they were with each other.
I wonder what exactly the promise between Pride and Leon is about? Damn, I really love that last shot in the OP.
この作品が帰ってきて本当に嬉しいよ。2期が発表されたって聞いたときは良い意味で驚いたわ。ところで、ステイルが調べたレオン・アドニス・コロナリアに関する噂が1話も持たずに流れたのはちょっと面白いな。しかもオフスクリーンで根も葉もないってわかっちゃうし。

Plus it really wouldn't make sense for him to be gay if he's still intended to be romanced by and end up with Tiara in the context of the original game timeline.

One issue that I have with Pride that’s carried over from season one is her mindset that she needs to make up for OG Pride’s cruelty to people. They’re two different people that lived two different lives; she should do right by people for herself, not to make amends for the actions she took in another life.

She specifically mentioned that he can cheat *again*, but that only he will go unpunished. Knowing OG Pride, she probably made him watch as well. Pride probably also killed a lot of people who were interacting with Leon whenever she got jealous. So now he's terrified that if he interacts with someone else he's basically dooming them to almost certain death, and so now he's avoiding people

The original story Leon probably needed some punishment, but Pride took it too far.
Our current Pride is trying to make Leon happy for the things the original Pride did. I have a feeling Leon's character will still cheat, but if Pride can balance between punishment and fairness, our characters can have a happy result.

While I like this series it still has the same problem as before. Mainly Pride whole "woe is me" schtick. I really hope that she grows as a person and is not stuck in the mentality of being a character forever. That would marginally improve the quality of the series.

Yeah I feel the same. It has been 8 years since she reincarnated, and she still has the mentality of “oh I’m the most heinous woman to ever exist” when she has been nothing but kind and loving toward her kingdom, siblings and servants.

The party is a nice excuse to get the cast all dressed up! Especially Pride! I can understand why Stale is a little self-conscious having his "sister" flexing that massive cleavage, but it's a VERY nice view!
Is there any man in this kingdom that doesn't adore Pride at this point? That's how you know she's the real Heroine this time.
It's finally time for Pride to be introduced to her new fiance, Leon Adonis Coronaria (Shinnosuke Tachibana!) of the kingdom of Anemone. He's quite the smooth-talker, enough to get even Pride to become flustered, and he and Pride seem like the perfect engaged couple...though her siblings and Arthur can't quite see it that way.
What did OG!Pride do to mess Leon up? Well, it seems like she basically tortured him into being a love slave who is absolutely afraid of her, his kingdom basically wrote him off, his cheating on Pride made sure she'd destroy any chance of him with another woman (including her sister), and she makes him absolutely feel like he has no escape outside his love for her. Just to remind you that, yes, OG!Pride was definitely a baddie.
But currently Pride has every intention to do right by Leon, even if she knows that all his romantic words are nothing more than a lie. Though the biggest lie is "I haven't had any love interests since I reincarnated."
Speaking of love interests, Val is back with the kids! And a romantic offer to take Pride and run away with her, from all these obligations and pressures. It's a mighty tempting offer, but Pride loves this nation, this people, too much to go along with it. But she does know she can count on Val now.
Poor Arthur and Stale who have to watch Pride and Leon take a tour of the kingdom and hold hands practically the entire time...it's especially rough for Arthur because he can't accept this relationship born from such false smiles. But what did Pride make Leon promise? What is she having Val do? How will this ensure Leon's happiness?
The new OP is a little more low-key than season 1's, but it's got Pride's daily life, the two last love interests prominently displayed, royal intrigue, and Pride descending into the depths...but saved by her family. Even if the original Pride still haunts her.

Quickly remember why I ended up not really enjoying this show. It was just a constant “let’s see how many different guys we can have simp for pride”.
I remember it starting out really well as the mc actually seemed really strong and like it would be free of that stuff but it ended up being all the guys simping for her heavily and her swooning over them too. Pretty much every scene this episode was similar just with a different one of the guys each time.
Hopefully though since she’s older she will be a bit less swoony all the time and more independent? Kinda seemed like that might be the case at the end?
