The action also had a bit of an upgrade. As much as I liked Season 1 episodes 1, 8, and 12 had decent action but the other ones were a bit too stiff (especially the Drel fight in episode 11). Not bad by any means just could've been better.

Yeah, I had a feeling the budget was a bit higher right from the start with how it looked like Naie’s face was animated in a different, more expressive than usual way, but when she started blasting the familiars and especially during Ray’s fight I was in shock at the sudden quality increase in both the art and animation. Like this was better than anything in season 1 in that regard.

Everything in S1 had a real storybook feel to it. It enhanced the fantasy, fairy tale, 80s animation feel. This is much more modern by comparison, and looks good, but I do have a soft spot for those fights and stylings in S1.

The sound effects were also peak. I rarely see it mentioned here, but Clevatess has some of the best sound effects I've ever heard in an anime. Every magical-adjacent action sounds WEIRD. The Regalia roar whenever they slash and Clevatess' tentacles make this scratching sound.

We are not even certain that Klen even intends on actually killing the students. I think it is not a coincidence that all of the downed students are incapacitated, not dead, other than by their own exhaustion perhaps the Dean's magic.

I think clevatess mentioned in a previous episode that he can only revive one person at a time with dark ichor like Alicia. So if he wanted to revive another person then Alicia would have to essentially die.

Ironically enough, Klen is also inspiring heroism within other characters, and like Alicia said, has never once stopped people from being heroes. By doing what he wants he's already doing a better job than Vordin is at the supposed "recreate the hero" mission lol.
