Hence marks a milestone for COTE for having more than 13 episodes throughout the season. I can already tell how compressed some scenes are like with Koenji but the episode handled the pacing well to still hold a great amount of good content around it which is something that previous seasons lacked the credibility of. Though I'm lacking a little bit of weight to the build up and emphasis on the strategy part of the episode cuz I would assume they're gonna show not tell the entire thing which is not bad but wouldn't hurt to give a bit of oomph to how things play out. After this point in the season, it's all peak from here

Fights can skip dialogues, and also things can be shown rather than narrated. They have been doing that for a while, like how Koji noticed another intruder while he was fighting Nanase and had ideas. However, the anime just showed him do a side-eye glance which many did catch. Most of the conversations were summarised and shortened. Like Kushida's and Ichika's dialogue exchange, it also escalated immediately rather than being a slow, gradual mask-off moment of Kushida's anger. So 2 episodes are enough to end the volume.

They have been consistent with their new pace of 4 episodes per volume this season. What they did in past seasons shouldn't matter now that they're taking a different approach of adapting most stuff. It's aomost like a new anime. There's really not space left for 4.5. Not even for the important WR monologues that they skipped already... They announced a secret project they're working on, so maybe it will be that.

Nah, man, it ends with The epic clash of Koji and Director alongside Ichika's vs. Horikita's and Ibuki's battle sequences. We all think that the WR monologue of Vol. 2 (Yagami) and Vol. 4 (Ichika) may have been left for the end and beginning of the episode as a final reveal of the WR identity. Even if they do not get adapted, ending it on this island exam works well enough. All these are enough for concluding the finale on a high note. Read volume 4.5; it contains a lot of references to the upcoming Vol. 5 exam. So it makes sense that it is kept aside for future content.

Koenji the GOAT! Bro single handedly displayed his overwhelming power and dropped them behind. It looks like he's gonna face more trouble before the end of the exam. Looks like a plan has been put in motion to stop Ayanakouji from reaching his designated areas and the first years aren't going to stop. Ayanakouji seems to have expected this. I wonder what his "plan" is. Only 2 episodes remain. I really hope we get to see something great.

I knew Koenji was the one early in this series man. He just had this aura like he knew he was HIM and there was something about it that just made me believe it even though he hadn't really done anything other than be cocky. I guess it was clear he wasn't exactly trying. Glad he's showing what he's worth. I'm curious to see what Ayano has up his sleeve for the attack they've prepared for him. I'm kind of worried for Nanase, I hope they aren't on to her playing double agent. Good episode overall. This is probably my favorite or 2nd favorite season so far

It's implied that Yagami was forced to tell them all about Kushida's past: The follow-up already happened in ep 12, with Yagami and Kushida talking about recording Kiyotaka vs Nanase, but just before that, they cut off this scene where it's confirmed: ON OUR FIFTH DAY HERE on the uninhabited island, I met up with a lone first-year student. [...] This specific encounter was a little bit different. I’d been contacted via a walkie-talkie that I was secretly entrusted with, and intentionally made arrangements to meet with this first-year student. That was because, well, given the circumstances, I had no other choice but to meet in person. When the first-year student saw me, I was greeted with a smile. As I drew closer, I responded with a smile of my own. Then, after I had made sure that there was no one else around, I got down to business. “I got your report over the walkie-talkie this morning. You’re going to explain to me what happened, right?” I demanded. I then addressed him by his name to emphasize the seriousness of my request. “Yagami-kun.” As in the leader of Class 1-B, Yagami Takuya. “Thank you for taking the time to come and meet with me,” he replied. “Forget the pleasantries. I’m just asking for you to explain yourself.” In response to my urgency, Yagami averted his eyes, like he was troubled by something. Then, he turned back to look at me once again. “Well, unexpected things do tend to happen, Kushida-senpai.” The way he just casually spoke about this like it was no big deal was infuriating. It looked like I wasn’t going to get anywhere in this conversation if I kept on playing nice. “What do you mean, unexpected?” I snapped. “It’s your fault that those first-years found out about my past, isn’t it?” When Yagami contacted me earlier, he reported that when he was pressed into making a confession, he told Takahashi Osamu from Class A, Tsubaki Sakurako and Utomiya Riku from Class C, and Housen Kazuomi from Class D about me. Apparently, those four had their suspicions about our relationship from an early stage, and Yagami couldn’t talk his way out of it. This wasn’t the kind of problem where I could just say this kind of thing was inevitable and forget about it. “For that, please accept my apologies,” said Yagami. “Seriously? Even if you say you’re sorry, it’s not going to change anything.” Now, four more people had learned the truth. Now it had gotten to this point, there wasn’t anything I could do about this on my own anymore. “Tsubaki-san and the others had more information than I had expected,” said Yagami. “It came as a surprise to me too.” “That was a surprise? Don’t be stupid,” I spat. “Please calm down, Kushida-senpai. Tsubaki-san and the others are not what’s important right now,” said Yagami. “What?” “Their objective is simply getting Ayanokouji-senpai expelled,” he replied. “They essentially have no interest in what kind of past you have, Kushida-senpai.” I didn’t give a crap if they were interested or not. I simply could not stand living in the same space as people who had my sensitive information. Why couldn’t anyone understand that? “Besides, those four are first-year students. They would basically never come into contact with you, Kushida-senpai,” said Yagami. “ Hah! Don’t make me laugh… You do realize we’re in the middle of fighting other grade levels here on this island, right? When I inevitably have to fight with the first-years, that means they’ll have something over me.” That meant I would inevitably be put at a disadvantage. If they said they were going to disclose everything, I’d have no choice but to follow their demands, even if they were younger than me. “Yes, I suppose that you’re right. If I were to look at this from your perspective, then I suppose that would be important,” admitted Yagami, having understood the truth. “However, that being said, getting those four expelled right now would be a Herculean task.
