The problem is that Hosen has had a history that even Ryuen is aware of, which means that it is nearly impossible for Hosen to be the spy because White Room people don't have a history outside of the White Room (since they most likely entered the school directly from the White Room). It is a good point you brought up about emotional spy, which will be a contrast to Ayanokouji's style. It is something to keep in mind when scanning the other first years.

Already hooked with this subplot of whose the other White Room 1st-year student, Ayanokouji basically has to find a partner that's not only actively trying to sabotage him but also actually beneficial for him. Though not so much with the main conflict between the new Year 1 Class D vs the other Year 2s, interesting power dynamics but man is it going to be a struggle to take this conflict seriously.

Normally I'd be happy about a four episode premiere, but today there are so many multi-episode premieres in addition to normal premieres, that I don't think I'll get through them all today lol.  Anyways, it's nice to see a new season for this, I'm looking forward to seeing the battle of wits, especially now that there'll be another member of the White Room trying to sabotage Ayanokouji.  I hope Ryuuen has a great plan to pay Housen back later, the guy's already too comfortable. Nanase seems like the serious kind, but it seems like she might be more resourceful than she appears after making that threat.  Gotta mention how cute Horikita's new hair looks. I also thought it was sweet that Miyake went to Ayanokouji being "We all missed you, that includes me by the way", Ayanokouji's little friend group.

Guys I hate this art style. Like a lot. It looks like everything is constantly buffering or that it looks like static or fuzzy. Had to pause the episode 4 minutes in (I never pause shows while they're running) and look to see if Crunchyroll was bugging or something. I think there was maybe only one time during the episode that I didn't hate the art style for the characters, for a brief minute it seemed a little fun, so to speak, but then that feeling quickly went away. Im actually surprised that a lot of people prefer this, I hear the LN looked more like this and that's fine and all...but I think change from source material CAN be good sometimes, and in this case I think the animation would better if it was like previous seasons, especially season 1 holy shit. I guess it could grow on me, but my excitement for this season fell off a cliff. If you like it though more power to you! This is just my opinion, like I said, maybe it'll grow on me.

So if students are allowed to basically murder each other as we saw hosen almost do, why doesn’t Ayano just kill hosen? Kinda obvious Ayano doesn’t really have morals and the teach blatantly just allowing hosen to almost murder Ibuki in front of everyone and on camera. Would solve a lot of issues to just ice him. If this was a lot more grounded in reality then what I asked would be absurd and I’d agree but this series as kinda shown it’s very much not grounded in reality.

We're back for more COTE intrigue in Japan's most cut-throat high school for training the future elites for the country. So despite moving up a year, everyone's class designation is still the same? Ayanokoji and Horikita in D, Ryuen in C, Ichinose in B and Arisu in A? Continuing on from last season, Tsukishiro has sent a White Room spy amongst the new 1st years, and introduced this peculiar new Special Test that makes it easy for the spy to undermine Ayanokoji with little penalty to themselves, that is if they could get themselves paired with Ayanokoji. This Hozen guy feels like a Ryuen clone, but only seems to have twice the brawns and trash talking, but none of the cunning of Ryuen. Not to mention Nanase has him nicely wrapped up her fingers by having dirt on him. Ayanokoji was right to see her as the bigger threat from the new Class 1-D. Though still too early to say if Nanase is the White Room spy.
