I really thought Nekota was gonna ask Eri to show up as his mom. I did not think his bright idea was just drag lol. What a goober. I also found it funny how even the teachers have noticed Juzo acts like an ojisan sometimes. Bro radiates old man energy haha. This series was a lot of fun. Plenty of goofy light moments to balance out the action. I’m looking forward to season 2!

That might've been even more hilarious. Episodes without someone commenting how Ogami doesn't act like a middle schooler: 0.

Two of the series I didn’t expect I’d enjoy as much as I did aired finales today and I was similarly surprised how pleased I felt with their endings. Talking about Scum of the Brave and this one. Felt quite dubious of the overall conceit of this show but it was surprisingly fun and walked that line in a great way. Loved how surprised and thoughtful he became at the thought that maybe this whole transformation might mean he doesn’t have to be an assassin anymore if he chooses not to. And him drawing hope and energy from all the bright eyed youths was rather wholesome. They handled his friendships with the various quirky girls he meets quite a bit better than I’d feared. And I did like his perpetual and understandable old man energy.

I never expected this show to make it easily into my seasonal top tier. But like Kujima, this was a matter of near perfect execution of what it set out to do -- and the aimed goal was distinctive and entertaining. I loved the characters. Despite the large number, one had no trouble remembering (and being amused by) them. It looks like S2 will BEGIN with a beach training camo. That seems like a novelty...

Stitches! Otohime Mai Mai & Juuzo We finally get to meet another one of the school's Unicorn elites! If Tenma is superhuman, Mai pretty much enters the realm of supernatural with her Mermaid Queen feats and transforming body. And instead of challenging Juuzo for Noren, Mai's challenging Juuzo so he'd break up with Noren . 😆 Poor Juuzo! Dude is really tired of these kids falling in love with him. He even rejects Mai almost immediately, but it looks like there's no use talking to her since his rejection made her fall in love harder . And there's really no stopping her since she's just gonna come at Juuzo as much as she can. Yes! I love the reversal! Instead of Juuzo competing, we actually get to see Noren compete this time. Mostly because she got offended at Mai calling her inferior. Challenging the Mermaid Queen to a surfing contest is gonna be a tall order considering both Juuzo and Noren have no experience. I do love that the seniors are using this as an excuse to have a club beach training camp. 😆 Nekota disguising himself as Juuzo's mom is hilarious! This dude is definitely having waaaaaaay too much fun crossdressing and roleplaying. Also I'm pretty sure Nekota is doing this so he can hit Juuzo without Juuzo fighting back. Maybe it's his form of revenge for how Juuzo treated him in the past. We finally get to meet Noren's Canadian mom and is that Kayanon I'm hearing? Too bad we didn't get to see much of her, but hopefully we will in the future. As expected, we have season 2 confirmed! As a manga reader, my first reaction last week was that there was no way they'd introduce Mai with only one episode left. I'm so glad my hunch was correct! I can't wait for Season 2 and the start of the Beach Trip Arc!

I love how we get this aggressive tan gyaru love rival who never gives up in love who also happens to have a split personality and Ogami wants nothing to do with it lol. The rare time when a guy has two girls fighting over him and he can't enjoy it because they're just kids and he's an adult in a middle schoolers body. I love it when the beach episode has actual plot relevance beyond an excuse to get the cast in swimsuits. Something to savor for season 2! Honestly kind of felt bad for Nekota at first, then I was questioning my sexuality, and then was laughing at him getting much-due revenge against his boss lol. Rare Kayanon MILF! Also seems like she's under the impression her daughters' relationship with Ogami is totally genuine. I'm curious how much she knows about her husbands' work, what her daughter wants, or the whole duel for herh and in marriage.

Juuzou thought he was finally done with one girl having feelings for him, now he has another lol. Otohime seems like she'll be a bigger problem for him.  Nekota got way into the role, so much that he forgets that he'll have to face the consequences of his own actions. It seems like he enjoyed himself at least.  Chisato being the big sister Juuzou needs once again, I'm glad she gave him her thoughts about future goals.  I'm glad this had already announced a second season, hopefully it'll come out sooner than later.

Mai is a wild girl. Loving her energy. As Ogami said, how did this turn into a duel between girls fighting for him ?! LOL Noren being a Tsundere doesn't wanna give away Ogami that easily. Now Ogami has got girl trouble in addition to the guys coming after him for the Noren duel. Why did they agree to surfing when Mai is good at everything related to water sports !! 😅 The Home EC club wanted to go on a trip and they found a reason. Can't wait for the ocean training camp. Nekota coming in disguise as Juzo's mom was unexpected. I really thought like Juzo that he would bring Eri. Even the sensei felt something strange and what got me laughing hard was the fact that the sensei noticed Juzo acting like a middle aged man every now and then 🤣😂 Noren's mom is stunning 😘❤️ Anego always know the right words to say. That Twilight scene made me emotional. She made Ogami believe in a life other than being an Assassin if he continues to do what he does. Now that he's good at studying he could have a better life by the time he returns to being an old man. So glad at the announcement of Season 2. Saturdays were so fun with Kill Blue. I'm gonna miss these characters and the beautiful op by Aespa.

I didn't know what I was going to expect when I started watching this show. I picked it up cause Fuuka Izumi was in it and that was it. It kind of quickly became one of my favorites this season. I really liked the jazzy brass band soundtrack for the show. Really gave it a unique feel and it mixed well with a lot of the scenes. Looking forward to season 2 and the duel with the gyaru. Surfs up, dudes! Speaking of Mai, I thought for a moment she wanted to duel Juuzou to actually go out with Noren.

Favorite scene was actually him realizing he can have a new future himself without being a hitman. Makes me hope the staying young part in the end sticks. Doesn't mean he has to hook up with either girl, since he has obviously shown zero interest or being flustered, which is....kinda rare of anime lol. But still, starting over again while keeping a relationship with everyone he has a positive one with in his previous life through don't think about it too hard anime logic seems fine with me.

Mai Otohime (Ikumi Hasegawa)! A Unicorn who is practically a queen of the sea! If it involves the water or Marine Biology, she knows of it and is an expert IN it! And she also just happens to have two personalities, one shy and cute, the other an outgoing and fun gyaru. Can this girl get any more top-tier? And obviously she's here to challenge Ogami...but not to date Noren. Because even if there isn't a rule against girls challenging Noren's boyfriend, they can't become Noren's boyfriend themselves. But that's not her goal, her goal is to get Ogami away from Noren so she can have him all to herself! Because both versions of her are in love with him, confess, and even kiss him on the cheek in front of everybody! Obviously Ogami wants nothing to do with a middle-schooler wanting to date him, let alone two middle-school girls fighting over him, but his clear rejection of Otohime doesn't work. Why? Because she's a carnivore woman who won't let ANYTHING get in the way of what she wants, be it him technically being in another relationship or no matter how much he tells her no. She'll just whittle him down with her aggressiveness and cuteness. How does Noren feel about Otohime trying to steal her fake boyfriend? More bothered than you'd think! So it's going to come down to the "couple" taking on Otohime in a surf battle! Even though neither of them know how to surf! But thankfully they've got a three-day weekend for the home ec club to train them! Did someone say "Beach Episode?" It's nice that being in the home ec club has made Juzo more subdued and nicer to Nekota compared to how physically abusive their partnership used to be. Takada is REALLY into Eiji, like even his drawings and realistic cat sketches really do it for her! I smell another budding side-ship. Honestly having Ogami's ex-wife pretend to be his mom WOULD be hilarious...but you can't beat Nekota in drag playing Ogami's mom and actually pulling it off. Sure, "she" doesn't look anything like Ogami, but nobody can tell that's a dude. And if Nekota gets to get revenge for all the times Ogami hit him by slapping him upside the head constantly, all the better! We even get our fake couples' moms meeting! With Noren's hot Canadian MILF mom voiced by Ai Kayano! You'd totally mistake them for sisters at first glance! Nothing like a parent-teacher conference with your cross-dressing subordinate mama to make you really think about where your life is going. Ogami is surrounded by people with a dazzling, blinding, youth while he's still a middle-aged man who thinks he only can do one thing...but if someone like Big Sis Chisato still wants to keep her options open in life rather than just naturally become a chef, then maybe there can be more to Juzo Ogami's life than just being an assassin? Maybe he CAN have his own kind of youth with the friends he's made along the way! Who is Chisato planning to surprise the main pair with for the beach training? The only person I can think of that they know who might also be good at surfing is Tenma.

Kinda weird to start the episode with the surf challenge and then just not do anything with it In the end, it's an anime that doesn't do anything terrible, but doesn't do anything exceptional either. As an action comedy about a dangerous professional forced into a domestic situation, it's got stiff competition from shows like Sakamoto Days and SpyxFamily and falls behind in both action and comedy in comparison. I think the series lacked a strong emotional hook, since the Detective Conan esque setup led to a pretty standard high school story without really progressing much. It focuses most of the time on a fake romance between Ogami and Noren that I definitely don't want to see progress (o the show's credit it makes it clear it won't) and mostly led to wacky Ranma 1/2 suitor of the week battles. It's disappointing that the series avoids doing anything with the fact that the lead is divorced with a daughter, which is an actually unique angle they could've explored. Otherwise, it's just a watchable but unremarkable show.

Mai's a menace. "The weak should fear the strong."-type girl, LMAO. Good luck to the total novice surfers, because they're gonna need it. It's fun having Noren involved in the challenge this time. Nekota showing up in drag was hilarious. You can tell that Umeda Shuichiro had as much fun with that as Nekota did. Hopefully Juzo doesn't get reported to CPS with all of that hitting, lol. Was that Sayaka Ohara as Noren's mom? That makes what, two different moms this season she's voicing with Yuu's mom in Second Cutest? The melancholy ending segment was excellent; the noiry jazz stuck out to me. I can't wait for the second season!

I am satisfied. This plus Bookworm both stuck the landing so well. This was always entertaining and had consistent and decent art, animation, and production. The jokes landed and there was enough quirkiness to keep me laughing. I wonder tho. Does it get more serious as time goes on? Juzo can't feel good about fooling so many people. And what happens when he does age up permanently? Does his young self just disappear or "die" as an excuse to explain it? Looking forward to season 2!!!!
