It’s fun to see Tanya’s efforts with political engineering. She and Zettour truly are the twin pillars for the Empire’s war efforts. I find it curious that the show keeps cutting to shots of not!Churchill and not!Stalin, but not letting them say anything. The movie even had a VA for not!Stalin, so I don’t know why he doesn’t have any lines. All we’re left with is more Loria screen time. My favorite. Also, the commissar is definitely running a con on Mary, right? You don’t rise high enough in the Party, much less get a personal endorsement from someone like Loria, without being a complete monster. What did others think of the OP and ED? I don’t hate them, but they’re no Jingo Jungle or Los Los Los. Maybe they’ll grow on me.

Even if the Commissar isn't running a con (mighty big if), the goal is to win hearts and minds. Mary would have come out advocating for cremations and the Commissar would have put on just as much a show of whole heartedly agreeing with Mary. She is there to make the Party look as good and friendly as possible to anyone who doesn't know first hand how wrong that image is - and to keep her comrades in line at the same time too.

Liliya almost certanly known about Mary's strength and tries to emotionally manipulate her, maybe plant the seeds for the betrayal of Drake later. You never known when a moment of weakness arrives. She is preparing to take control at that moment. I have a pr prediction though: the plan is gonna backfire, because Tanya kills Liliya and Mary only grown more vengeful, while undermining the Federation as well.

in the book, 203rd is stationed on the west and conducts research while fighting in the dodo straight (english channel), they even do a downed pilot rescue on english soil and obliterate english ground troops and police, 1st salamander is formed and sent to eastern front, Tanya trains them, drills them, pulls favors to get good equipment etc, and turns them into an elite fighting force. Its disbanded, then they are sent on a naval strike mission against the queen of anjou, destroys the multinational mage unit and some common wealth marine mages. They take 10 casualties, 4 deaths/ 6 injured and retired, thats a whole company or about 1/4th of the 203rd gone. Intel passed under the table by a friendly unit shows queen of anjou damaged and undergoing repairs near a russian naval base. Tanya and the remaining 3/4ths of the 203rd sortie with submarines and strike the base, permanently disabling the queen of anjou, its unclear if its sunk or what but i THINK there was talk of restoring the ship in the next book. but as of book 5 ending it was "destroyed" They are reinforced by newbies, and a new salamander with brand new newbie units is formed to fight on the eastern front much to tanya's dismay, where in they discover the truth about the communists and convince zetour to do the speech and from the Reichskommissariats in the occupied regions instead of annexing them.

It's a decent episode although I do think the OP and ED are a step down from season one. I'm just really concerned about the pace they're taking through the light novels, they're absolutely blitzing through them right now and it's quite a shame how much content they're cutting. The whole relationship between the multinational forces and the federation soldiers getting literally like one minute of screentime compared to several different scenes in the novel is just a very big stumble in the writing I think.
