I love that it explored what its like to fall in love as a teenager in a very different, over the top, and completely amazing way. The ending was the cherry on top of the kawaii sundae. At this point, anymore added to this perfectly happy ending might spoil it for me. They do leave room for season 2 though and I could see them trying to dig into some of the lore, while Kuroe and Minami try to get more involved and probably more intimate -- still dealing with her unique condition. And then there are all of the interesting side characters... eh, ok, maybe I do want to see more, haha. Anyone else get really distressed and upset for a moment when Minami-kun appeared to be vaporized?? I had to tell myself he was alive, even though I didn't fully believe it because the thought was so horrible!! 😂 That boy may be one dimensional, but that dimension is precious. Any person who accepts their partner for being half human / half Godzilla-like entity and loves them for it, is truly a special person that should be protected at all costs.

I don't think he knew the first time it happened. I think that all of the weird "coincidences" started to add up and he finally started to realize towards the end of the series. I think he knew, before the battle tonight/after the last transformation, or was at least pretty sure, that Haragon and Kuroe were one in the same. He was certainly picking up on clues as early as the first ep though. He was the one who said Haragon was female, I believe. They never show his perspective but I would imagine he had to have been wondering why he was drawn to the kaiju and why it was always showing up around him, after Kuroe would disappear. Its too weird NOT to notice. Plus, Haragon never hurt him -- instead he seemed to show affection and protection. However, Minami never saw her transformations and I'd imagine it would be hard for him to believe that his tiny little girlfriend turned into a kaiju bigger than the tallest building in Tokyo, at least right away, especially not on their first date. He got to know her better as the series went on too and I think getting to know her was ultimately what helped him to see the truth. This was honestly such a sweet, romantic comedy with such a positive message about loving someone and what love and loving someone does to people. I'm not even much of a romantic but this series got me good.

I’m def feel like he was pretending to be clueless esp when he came to save her out of the storage room. I was laughing so hard cuz he just saw her flash her ass at him for a quick second like he just turned on the lights. Theres no way he didn’t see that plus she’s hiding under a futon or gym mat and he doesn’t even question it! I was dying laughing I’m like he’s so sweet he’s just playing it off or he’s the most oblivious dude ever. He was just like OMG you’re looking at me in the eyes finally when she’s rolled up in a futon! 🤣 he was such a gentleman to go get her stuff for her but maybe he was just playing dumb and he really did see her tail that time so that’s why he didn’t say anything about her reaction once the lights turned on which was so funny!

That was such a fun show, and Kuroe was easily one of my favorite characters this season, her reactions never failed to crack me up every week ! It’s a solid 8/10 from me, and I really hope we get a second season in the future. About the finale episode ... it was nice with Kuroe and Minami kissing , and that now Kuroe won't have to hide the fact that she's Harugon from him , or from others, since surely everyone in Manatsu's helicopter saw them together in that moment. Also, Manatsu jumping off the helicopter after Rairi pointed out that Harugon was already beaten made me laugh hard. Good thing Rairi managed to catch her fast enough . My only complaint is that Akae didn't end up turning into a human to become Kuroe's cute little sister , but just flew away. But well, you can't have everything, hahaha! My only complaint is that Akae didn't end up turning into a human to become Kuroe's cute little sister, but just flew away. But well, you can't have everything, hahaha! Honestly, I'm glad they didn't do that here... She definitely killed people and they played up the severity of the fight and destruction she caused, so that would have felt too undermining to just instantly brush it off by just making her a cute anime girl to end this conflict.

It’s a solid 8/10 from me I was trying to work out whether or not to give it an 8 or a 9 out of 10, so I went and looked at what I'd given a 9 in the past. I ended up giving Kuroe's show an 8, but now feel like there's potentially going to be a kaiju-scale regrading of everything so that it's more consistent. Might not sound like much to some, but that's a huge impact for a show to have for me personally lol That said, I feel like if I binged it as a rewatch, it might actually move up a score. There's a very cohesive, well thought through story and such a powerful emotional core that gets a bit diluted week-to-week.

Yes, but in terms of page count (instead of using the biased volume count), the anime covered about 60% of the available source material. By the end of next year, we should likely get another two volumes which would be enough for another season. There are also apparently some smaller skipped scenes from this volume they could add back (?). Pacing adjustment or added content can also change that math. But yeah, it's possible to get another season in 2028. Probably longer, realistically, of course. But there would be enough content.

Stitches! Kuroe's Pancake Outfit Kuroe's Partial Transformation It's absolutely crazy to see what these kids are doing. I'm glad they managed to rescue Daichi, since I doubt he'd have the mental resilience to survive that fall. It's also insane how Manatsu is ready to jump off the helicopter to be with Harugon. I had a feeling it was a dream, but I'm not gonna lie, there were a few seconds where I thought we skipped a day to Kuroe recovering from her fight . It immediately clicked that it was a dream when they showed us the city unharmed , and Kuroe had a date planned with Arata. That visual of Kuroe on the floor surrounded by empty boxes was sad, but a spot-on visual representation of how she feels. That she's a kaiju; therefore, she has nothing and can't have anything. Thankfully our Prince of Kaiju is here to save Kuroe! After last week's episode, Arata has finally realized that Harugon is indeed Kuroe and has shown her that he accepts her completely, including her scales and horns. Not gonna lie, I actually teared up a bit when Arata tried to protect Kuroe when Akae was charging up her beam and later, when we see Kuroe's body starting to regenerate . The power of love is just too OP! I really thought that Atomic Breath vaporized Akae! If only people knew that was actually Kuroe screaming to the whole world that she loves Arata. It does look like Kuroe has sealed her image as the "good" kaiju among the public , so this all works out! Akae is still alive, though , and it looks like she's on her way back to Kaiju Island. At least she knows not to mess with Harugon now! With all of the helicopters pointed at Harugon, I'm wondering if that means everyone saw her transform back into Kuroe. Not really the time to think about that, since Kuroe and Arata finally get their kiss! That was such a good ending to the series! As a shoujo and kaiju fan, this was a great love letter to both genres. I'm really hoping we get a season 2 because this is not over! There are more characters and kaiju to meet in the future, and I want to see them all animated! Fingers crossed for Season 2!

Honestly love how in her dream world Kuroe is a sweets fashionista who styles herself with as many sweets accessories as possible lol. I also have to respect her Ultra Brothers being so loyal they'll even follow Manatsu into a suicidal charge at Akae lol. I legit thought Akae got blasted into space. But instead Kuroe's love declaration towards Minami will soar throughout the universe. There's something fitting about Kuroe ending the season with a power of love Atomic Breath and also being naked for the umpteenth time...only now she's doing it in Minami's arms while she passionately kisses him. Relationship progress for the win!

If you like Minami, he gave me MASSIVE Taichi vibes from the show Chihayafuru Love this type of superhuman male love interest in shoujo anime. And I loved how he went "Dude, you're the coolest AND cutest girlfriend in the universe, kaijus rule wdym???" at the end. Such a sick episode. That dream sequence was also awesome. Fantastic decision to only show the door and use the clothing as a metaphor for her secret.

Started clapping when he called her Akaishi-san while she was in Kaiju form. The Kaiju powered by love. I'm curious if the other Kaiju has a human form that is revealed as the story moves on or not, since they fled here. And Minami gets an eyeful of his girlfriend completely naked lol. KISS! KISS! KISS! Fuck me I need season 2. This show blew my expectations out of the water. Such a fantastic story that blended two things that normally aren't related at all and made it work magically. With how often we get random isekai slop/villainess slop/etc it is nice to see something so fresh get grade A treatment.

Hoped for a S2 teaser (maybe not-Destroyah transforming into a human form) but probably not in a while, the manga seems doesn't have enough material for S2. Anyway a surprisingly fun and touching work in this season, and quite a fitting end altogether. Just a nitpick that Minami is so good as a person and a boyfriend together it feels so unreal, but it'll be needed to accept such a distressed girl like Kuroe.
