Let’s go Tsuchiba! Don’t believe in Barley Spice! Believe in Kana! Believe in the Kana who believes in you! Lol That was probably the toughest battle the girls have ever faced. That Kaii was like all juiced up and everything. Thanks to some good teamwork, everyone got out of it ok. That’s a wrap on another solid season. This series is quite fun. I wonder if we’re gonna get another season? I sure hope so.

I’m sure he has his ways. Oh, Shigemoto pulled out the big guns to get Koga to work with him. Ah, so they were expecting their initial plan to fail. Ooh, neat. Uh-oh… Ganbare, Tsuchiba…! Aw… Aw, she briefly saw Kana as Barley Spice! They did it! Get wrecked, artificial Kaii! Oh good, the people on the downed helicopter survived. It’s so nice to see Tsuchiba looking genuinely happy after all this. That’s… concerning. – Well, other than this part, this wrapped up everything pretty well.

That was a fun finale. Mei's flashback was pretty sad, but I'm glad Kana pulled her out of her funk and the collaboration between Magilumiere and AST was a success. Overall, I really enjoyed this series. My initial thought after the 1st season was an 8/10, but this season elevated it to an 8.5 for me. Plus, it's just really nice to see a series about adult magical girls when those are pretty rare in this genre. If this got a 3rd season (no idea if the source material has enough content for one) I'd gladly watch more.

Beyond this series being a good dose of the optimistic old-school style of Mahou Shoujo (with its own flair of course) in the post-Madoka era, what also works is that the employment setup featured here means they're the "open" superhero type without having to deal with secret identities and all that, which gives it a bit of its fun too. Not much works in this genre don't have to deal with secret identities/double lives after all.

I swear, Shigemoto is the most authoritative and competent tired-looking magical girl dress-wearing dude I know. It's always a treat when he takes charge. Sho - Shigemoto's Polar Opposite™ - eating like a filthy slob again just to cement in his bad guy status. I'm surprised there's no comeuppance for the corporate greed and unscrupulous scientist archetype dudes this time. I guess if there are future seasons they'll be the ongoing big bad, hope we get more.

And of course, we have a moment about friendship which ultimately results in the combination attack to finish the newest monster. I really like how the show adds in all these magical girl tropes into the more serious story. And the characters are always excited about them too, because they are magical girl fans as well. Honestly, the one thing I would have liked to see at the end is the actual lunch between Kana and Mei. But I guess, seeing that Mei decided to buy the Magical Girl accessory as well is enough to show that it would go well. Ultimately it was a fun second season. Where season 1 was a lot more character focused, this season started to shift more to the overall mystery and story. There were still good character moments like with Mei this time around but it feels that the story is slowly shifting and I wouldn't be against seeing where this leads. I am not sure if it gets another season considering it seemingly isn't the biggest hit out there but I wouldn't have assumed it to even get a second one, so who knows.

Nothing says Magical Girl Finisher like two Magical Girls intimately holding hands during said finisher. Honestly, the one thing I would have liked to see at the end is the actual lunch between Kana and Mei. But I guess, seeing that Mei decided to buy the Magical Girl accessory as well is enough to show that it would go well. I was really expecting them both to see each other wearing the same scrunchie lol.

Kouji is brilliant, that was a great Plan B he came up with. That was a great moment when Kana was able to get through to Mei, after seeing the flashback and past of Mei I can understand how she feels most of the time, she just really needed someone to believe in which actually made her smile and be happy for once. That was a great combination attack to finish off that Kaii, those girls take a real beating at times but always give it their all and work really well together. Good series again, I would definitely watch a 3rd if it happened. 7/10

Nice final intro with the whole Magical Girls in cool silhouette and recapping the season. You know it's a serious threat if it's one that Shigemoto and Koga are willing to work together on. As much as Koga hates Shigemoto's guts, he hates the idea of losing Magical Girls more, especially like they lost a specific Magical Girl who looks a LOT like Shigemoto from behind. So that means we're finally getting a Magilumiere + AST Team-Up! The Alice System is supposed to be shared! That means there's no problem with AST getting all the deets on is proprietary data! It's all so we can get a really cool combination attack going with all the Magical Girls! But while each girl pitches in...Tsuchiba is too mentally unstable to pull it off. Kana's the only one who can bring her back, and her co-workers have enough grit and determination to buy her the time she needs! That's what it means to be a Magical Girl! Battle damaged Kana eyecatch! No matter how much Mei prayed, Barley Spice couldn't save her family from poverty, save her dad from nearly dying from overwork, or save her from becoming consumed with becoming a corporate drone. But even if Barley Spice wasn't real, the courage she gave girls was, and the ability to BE Barley Spice for others. Like how Kana appears as Barley Spice to Mei when she needed her most! The light in Mei's eyes is restored! She can finally, genuinely, smile again! And it's the perfect lead-in to a combination handholding attack! LUMINOUS PROJECTION! The Kaii is slain! The day is saved! And it's time to forget about reports and celebrate by eating ramen! Tsuchiba gets to join in too! We even get ponytail Tsuchiba! Manao is as messy as ever, both in his eating AND his crimes, but Kamakura hasn't give up any more than Manao has. There's more trouble to come. Kana's worked really hard and come far! She has a supportive company and co-workers who don't want her working overtime when she doesn't have to and fully approve of her lunch date with Tsuchiba! The best part is they both ended up buying the same Barley Spice scrunchie, with Mei even wearing it! Just the kind of camaraderie and companionship that comes with being a Magical Girl!

I want to know what happened 15 years ago... I've never really been one to watch Magical Girls shows, but yeah, Magilumiere is right up my alley. Yes, I know it is a fantastical setting (kaii, magic and the such like) I appreciate how the Studio made it seem realistic. In the way that magic spells need to be created and transferred over to the brooms, reports need to be written, clean up crews need to clear the wreckage off the highways...

So I was right. It was not just the impoverished situation of her family that drove Mei to strive for success and become a slave to her job. Her dad fell ill and he was hospitalized but I guess he did die in the end. Kanachii with the beautiful pick-up line, " Let us be your Barley Spice ! " 🥹❤️ Having ramen after a long day of work, is definitely a bliss 💖 I'm glad that Mei came around. She could be sweet if she tries and smiling Mei is so damn cute. Mei's outfit was adorable. She wore that Ribbon to her Lunch date with Kana while Kana was embarassed to wear such a flashy item, haha. This season wasn't a big hit with me compared to season 1 'cause I missed those wonderful transformation sequences of the magical girls. But the character development and the plot progression was quite good this season and the music is always a big plus to this show. I hope we get season 3 in a year or two.
