Lmao that opening sequence was the best. I thought this was about Yamamoto! Poor Kitahara. The case study of his virginity was for science though lol. That was a great party. First we had “oolong tea”, now we have “takoyaki.” It’s very important to add “water.” I can’t believe they made Kohei go without his live anime watching experience. I feel his pain, man. At least he gets to go meet Shiori lol.

At one point, I can't believe Grand Blue was going to get 2 seasons in 1 year gap given it took 7 years for it to get a Season 2. But I'm starting to think the anime finally gets what it deserved. It feels like a dream that 2 of my favourite comedy anime airs in one same season at all. Girlfriend, something that Yuu actually experiences (unlike Iori whose his relationship with Chisa is merely just a cover-up at this moment). I'm kinda surprised Yuu and Rie's relationship still continues despite the fact that the gang messed up their time back in Season 1 and who didn't forgot her punch back in Season 2. It won't be Grand Blue without alcohol and oh wow that evaporates quickly. Sums up every Summer season

Honestly I always felt kind of bad because, setting aside how hilarious the sabotage was, it was still kind of mean-spirited to destroy a relationship like that. Even if he still tried to ask her to set him up with another girl after she dumped him, so I guess he had it coming. But I guess "true love" (and a girl being VERY forceful) finds a way.

We’re back! lmao, fantastic way to start. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. They’re gonna try to get him to have sex with a gorilla? Hahahaha… Incredible. THEY ACTUALLY GOT A GOOD SCORE FOR IT?! Of course Kohei has a yukata with his waifu on it. Oh boy. Ah yes, “water”. This entire “cooking show” is incredible. Pfffffffffffffffff Kohei casually breaking the fourth wall. Of course Shiori does not want to give Iori his passport. Sasuga, Kohei.

The beauty of the sea! This is what the show is really about! Well, that and the scumbros debating the virginity status of one of their own! The OP isn’t by Shonan no Kaze but it’s still got that fun, tropical, Summer feel as paper cut-outs of the cast do all your classic Grand Blue antics! Count on the Scumbros to turn a simple debate topic into an excuse to scientifically ascertain Yamato’s chances of getting laid, most of which assumes he would need money, physically assault someone, or have sex with a gorilla if he wants any chance. This is some very insightful stuff! Mitarai just HAD to flex he’s the only one with a girlfriend to the same group that ruined his chance at sex and nearly destroyed his relationship (then again, said girlfriend also is willing to crush his balls, so…). Next thing you know he and Iori are on trial for having girlfriends and will receive no mercy from the members who clearly do NOT have girlfriends. Iori managed to save himself physically if not socially, as his virginity status ends up netting them a passing grade and also having Chisa’s status as a virgin outted to the entire class. This fake relationship with Iori is really paying off for her! It’s nice of Iori and Kohei to want to do something for the Senpai while stark-naked, and getting to see everybody (especially the ladies) in yukata is a nice visual…especially for the view of Azusa’s cleavage. Of course then it just turns into the usual PaB boozer complete with everyone removing their underwear. Azusa can begrudgingly accept the girls still wearing panties (so long as she can feel their braless chests) but that doesn’t mean she’s not going commando herself. Cooking Takoyaki with Iori and Kohei! Complete with tons of alcohol! Nearly poisons Chisa and Nanaka’s dad but at least Chisa can feed it to Iori with nothing but “love” as his “girlfriend!” Next thing you know Iori/Kohei/Chisa are passed out drunk from the Takoyaki. But it’s the thought that counts and they actually DID make a special memory for their Senpai so…mission accomplished! What better way for Yuma to recover from a hangover than having nee-san offer him a part-time job in Palau? If it means screwing over Kohei watching the Summer 2026 season, all the better! So Iori’s parents have pretty much cut his allowance off and he thought he could just call and have Shiori send him his passport without any fuss? Nope! He has to go back home, and he’s taking his little sister obsessed bud Kohei with him! The ED is cute with all the typical Grand Blue antics…boozers, Sakurako bullying Iori, naked guys running from the police, Scumbros scum teacher, and Iori and Kohei stumbling into an undersea palace filled with lovely ladies (and Otoya) before segueing into the usual Grand Blue antics.

On the downside, the animation slumped in episode 1, which really doesn't bode well for the rest of the season. Plus a bunch of the paper cutouts in the ED were reused from last season's. On the upside, Grand Blue's still fucking hilarious and the VAs are giving it their absolute all. Kohei's and Iori's extra-light and cheery voices during the cooking segment were gutbusting. Also Azusa is hot. Welcome back, Grand Blue.
