I know we all love Nikaido being badass, but seeing Nikaido getting embarrassed is pretty great too. Natsuki's power is actually pretty strong. It's actually amazing how she took down Risu. No wonder Kai would want it. As soon as Natsuki started talking about being useful and taking photos with everyone, I knew that was a death flag. This fucking sucks, but I'm glad that Season 3 has already been confirmed. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long.

RIP Natsuki. No photo with everyone for you, just a swift (painless I hope) death 😭 That transformation sequence was as sinister as they come, even for this series.You'd think Aikawa would just flip a switch, then bam--he's Kai. NOPE. He has to lose, rather EJECT his own head before Kai's head can assume its position in order to fully take control of their (shared) body. My god what a sight for sore eyes! It was pleasantly revulsing, if you know what I mean--Dorohedoro's specialty. Ending the season here really leaves a sour taste in my mouth, not gonna lie. One can only hope season 3 isn't far down the road cause man, I really need to see this adaptation through

CINEMA of a season. Despite all the big shows airing this season, Dorohedoro is easily my Anime of the Season, might even take AOTY for me. Despite how good it is, I still think this anime is not popular enough. Even on youtube I don't see many youtubers talk about it, even anime react channel don't pick it up. I hope someone with big following talk about this show. I'm going to miss Dorohedoro Wednesday. Season 3 got announced but no date yet, hopefully we won't have to wait for long.

En's statue impaling Dokuga, looks like En's still looking out for Nikaido even in the after life lol. Blushing embarrassed Nikaido cute! We finally get to see the transformation from Aikawa to the Boss and boy is it horrifying. At this point I think its safe to say that the Boss is a separate entity from Ai Coleman, made from the same toxic sludge that Ai fell into. Maybe its like an amalgamation of the tortured souls of all the sorcerers that were thrown into the sludge or something. I wonder what the doctor saw in the x-ray of Caiman's head though? The headless guy (I assume it's Ai Coleman) telling Aikawa "From the start, you never existed" implies that Aikawa is just a puppet of the Boss. I think that the Boss also sees whatever Aikawa sees, because Aikawa was getting was headaches while looking at Natuski, Risu, Nikaido and Kawajiri (people whose power he wants). And Aikawa definitely knows about the thing inside him, which is why he pretended to forget Nikaido. His reaction to the word "Gyoza" though, Nikaido got him trained like a dog. Speculation: The Boss was using other personalities like Aikawa to scout out and get close to people with powerful sorcery. Risu was a special case where Curse was too much to handle so the Boss had to lay low and force a stalemate by turning into Caiman. There's also the Chekov's gun that is the decapitated Caiman head; depending on what the doctor saw in the x-ray, it might be possible to regenerate a full Aikawa/Caiman from the head, so that Aikawa/Caiman can be seperated from the Boss. Poor Natsuki. The Boss was already scary strong before but now he has Natsuki's armor he's going to be unstoppable. Curse Risu was supposed the be the counter to the Boss, but we saw what happened when he fought Natsuki. And Season 3 confirmation, let's fucking go!!!

it might be possible to regenerate a full Aikawa/Caiman from the head, so that Aikawa/Caiman can be seperated from the Boss. i think you have something here and i havent thought about it until you mentioned it. just like Risu was revived when his 'power' was still alive inside Kaiman, so you had two alive entities of the same being, just doing things seperatedly, maybe Kikurage + Noi can do the same for Kaiman, but as of now they still consider him an enemy of En's family so thats a hail mary.

I still think En is more evil; the cross eyes gang are horrible people, but they are treated as second class citizens and being systematically oppressed, so their terrorist acts are evil but can be considered as practical path to improve their status; En on the other hand was a competent and reasonable dictator, he made the sorcerer world a better place, but with his power and wealth, his evil actions are not necessary but simply to satisfy his greed and obsession to power.

I mean, en was treated as lifestock his name means smoke, it's not even a real name, just a purpose but he didn't initiate a purge of the powerless sorcerers and from what we can tell there's not really any law discriminating against them hell en himself employs powerless people The cross eyes learning and teaching others to defend themselves against powered sorcerers is fair, but they don't do that, only officers know about their fighting style and to the rest they sell drugs

When he is the ruler and enjoying all the power and wealth, it is reasonable to ask him take responsibility of evil things happened under his control. The most evil thing is him allowed his members to go human world to use human to practice magic, and what he did to nikaido is also totally fucked up, it basically tells you he would do whatever to get what he wants; the silver lining is him treating his members quite well. There is of course no law discriminating people with no magic ability, just like you don't need law to discriminate handicap people, people would do that voluntarily. I am of course not interested in defending cross eye gang with no name in this show lol; I am only talking about the 4 members, they are horrible and they would likely be worse if they gain power like what En did; but right now En is the one in control for years so I think it is fair to call him a more evil person

I think you are overestimating how much people care about others in this world. Almost everyone is a psychopath, including our beloved characters. The reason he forbid entries was because of Matsumura being killed, who was a part of the En family. En has been shown to consistently care about his family, but nobody outside of it (devils excluded). The same is true for basically any other character. Kaiman, Nikaido, Kasukabe, Shin, Noi, Ebisu, Fujita, Kawajiri (because he cares about Nikaidou), etc. Almost no characters outside of maybe Natsuki and Nikaidou's parents care about anybody else outside of themselves and the people they cherish. That's the explanation.

Yeah you're right their morals are skewed towards much less value of human life aside from the people they care about. Still, there's a giant difference between actively using others as putching balls and lab rats, and just beating up/killing people who attacked you first, basically fafo with these thugs and Nikaido. So yeah, Caiman, Kasukabe, Nikaido, they're afaik much less likely to kill off people for funsies than En's subordinates would.

En is an anarchic ruler not bothered enough to create laws protecting the weak, well..., because the weak literally dragged him through hell. We can see the reason why he didn't do that. Still shitty, but understandable. I think he's an actual anomaly of a dictator when we compare it to the real world. He has all the strong and soft power in the sorcerer world. Even then, he doesn't create a repressive regime like real-world dictators do and instead apathetically (as I've mentioned) does his own thing. Due to how the world is, empathy to someone you have necer met is basically a unicorn (and ironically, the unicorn Asu also doesn't have it for people that he hasn't met). By the real world's standards and morals, he hasn't done anythign to protect the weak, even though he's in a position of power, but at the same time, he didn't start an oppressive regime to get revenge on the weak, he did it to the individuals (which, I think, in a fantasy setting with no court of law is kinda justified). He does want to be on top though, because he's seen Kai and the cross-eyes as a threat. The other factor is, that he doesn't treat his , so called, family as grindmeat and I think he genuinely cares about them. Remember how he told Kaiman during their fight that "this is revenge for Matsumura", who definitely wasn't a powerful asset to the family, given that he was a partner to Fujita, who is weak. It pretty clearly shows that he doesn't hate weak people, he just creates his own circle and then cares about them. I don't believe he's inherently evil, he doesn't go out of his way to target people who haven't wronged him, he's just apathetic to others outside (honestly, like almost every other character in the story). He does some bad things from our perspective, but seeing all the people's moralities in the story, I think En's morality isn't far off from the average Joe there. He only holds grudges to the cross-eyes and other people who have wronged him.

If Dokuga and the other could get to learn how to produce black smoke without the boss and get rid of him, they'd build a better place than En. Unless it's done through terrible ways, which I'm guessing it is since it's Kai who produced it and we know he extracts devil tumours kind of like how Sylar in Heroes would dissect other supernatural humans to gain their powers (but didn't steal them technically, the dissection/vivisection just killed them in the process, except immortal persons like that pom pom girl Claire).

en was bad but he wasn't killing people for not having magic like the boss does with people who do have magic Bro, he straight up encouraged practicing in the Hole. That's why the permanent door is in his estate. Plus, Sho does the killing for him, and even then he does kill a shit ton of guys. He just turned them into mushrooms and serve them in his restaurants. The cross-eyes were just misguided by Kai and they feel indebted to him because he saved them and give them ways to fight back against magic users who oppress sorcerers who can't use magic like them.

what i thought en is the bad guy.. i mean he is the opposite of the cross eye he want dominant for who have the power and magic he didnt care mush abt other situation so i feel he isnt a responsible personne more then a guy controlled by his greed. in the other hand it look like the cross eye are just bunch of ppl wanna to make the magic world a better place for everyone yet they are corrupted just bc of their boss and i think if they remove the boss from the team they would have more independent and good ideas bc of they strong relationship...

I think En and the cross eyes both are morally grey. En is kind of the bad guy, but also is very loyal to his family. The cross eyes care about their people, but are brutal to sorcerers. I have a feeling things aren't going to be great with the cross eyes and their boss in charge. It may just be a reverse of how sorcerers treated non sorcerers, but now the non sorcerers are on top and treat sorcerers like dirt.

Yeah, basically, the Attack on Titan fucked us over. It's now abundantly clear director Hayashi has it as his passion project. Sometimes directors and profilic animators can actually push for a series to get a greenlight. Every single time they announced a new AoT thing, I was coping that after finishing it, Hayashi would return to Dorohedoro, and he actually did that with almost ligh speed for a Japanese production, and I felt sooooo vindicated and here we are, watching the last episode of season 2 and season 3 announced right after. Life is good sometimes. Honestly, he has my eternal respect for pushing this, even though it's much less profitable. (Looking at you, big AAA game publishers)

Damn, it's sad that Dokuga's group were trying to protect Natsuki, but in the end they were too late and she got killed for her magic. I was surprised to see Kai kissing her and saying "I want you", too bad the implications were completely different from what you'd expect.  It was also sad seeing Aikawa losing himself to Kai, seeing how grotesque the procedure is was shocking. Now that Kai has this indestructible magic, I wonder how he'll be defeated, not even Risu's curse could do anything to it. I'm guessing Nikaidou will be the key with her time magic.  On a more positive note, I did like Aikawa and Nikaidou's interactions, he felt a lot more like Caiman around her.  Asu in that body with that dress though in the elevator, that left a certain impression on me lol.

MY GOSH IT WAS 6 YEARS 💀 And I remember as a teenager back in 2013 how long AoT S2 felt. With Dorohedoro every year I checked if it was scheduled since like 3 years ago, when I realized it came from Mappa and therefore AoT but also Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Vinland Saga, and others.... I was like "Well at least in the meantime I got great animes to watch aswell at least". Crazy how much bangers Mappa animators produced.

Oh, Natsuki has the tattoo on both eyes now. Meanwhile Asu/Kawajiri turned into a girl. Yeah this sure looks like Noi’s room alright. Okay, so he definitely has Caiman’s memories. Dang, I didn’t even think about that… Oh yikes. The En statue breaking and basically stabbing Dokuga in the head was pretty funny ngl. Well, this should be good. Oh, what did the doc find out? You do not look okay, Dokuga. But you must have his memories given your mention of working for Tanba earlier. I was just wondering if Natsuki’s magic would work to protect against Curse. Well that’s not good… Holy shit… Damn… SEASON 3 CONFIRMED THOUGH LET’S GO!

Man, what a ride. It’s been a looong time since I’ve been this hyped for a show, not since Dorohedoro Season 1 to be exact. I missed counting down the days for the next episode and theorycrafting online. I'm just glad Season 3 is already confirmed, my heart couldn't handle another 4–5 years in the dark not knowing if we'll ever get another season. From here on, it’s a waiting game. The number 9 is clearly something important. It’s featured in the S2 opening and scattered across the background of both seasons. Since it consistently appears in scenes related to the Kai, I assume it's something related to him. Which also makes me wonder: what’s the deal with the magic 8-ball on Ai’s hat? Is there some deeper significance there too or am I overthinking it? The transformation scene also basically confirmed for me that the guy in white is Ai, and that Aikawa looks identical to the Kai minus the cross-eyes. Any minor visual differences are likely just production inconsistencies or artistic choices to exaggerate expressions, rather than some hidden clue -something I wasn't entirely sure about until now. Also, the transformation heavily mirrors Caiman’s dream sequence from season 1 episode 1 right down to the throwing up. I still have some massive questions though. How did the lake in Hole interact with Ai to trigger this mess? Did Ai's body literally merge with Hole, creating Kai, who is basically Hole itself? Is the connection even deeper than what I initially assumed? Furthermore, the rotating camera angles and the rain during Doc's scenes -right when Aikawa's headaches started to ramp up- can't be a coincidence, adding more to the nature of Hole and Kai. Between that and the endless black sludge pouring from his body, there is lot of dots to connect. Also, I initially thought the transformation had something to do with Aikawa’s magic, but swapping back and forth is just black sludge leaking out and a head popping out of his neck lol. I do wonder what happens to the decapitated heads though, since none are ever found. Last but not least, I hope the narrative doesn't turn Kai into a generic, "must be stopped at all costs" force-of-nature antagonist while reducing Aikawa to a helpless victim who needs saving. It’s far more interesting if becoming a ruthless maniac was a deliberate response to a fucked-up world and the social status quo Ai was trapped in rather than the accidental side effect of a surgery or jumping into a lake with magical properties. I really don't want the dilemma to boil down to simply "curing" our guy to restore an otherwise innocent and wholesome protagonist. That said, I'm not even fully convinced this is a simple, traditional case of a split personality. Maybe when Ai became "Hole" his old self wanted to somehow preserve itself, and that's how Aikawa was created? Not just mentally but somewhat physically as well? I'm not sure, I have so many competing theories about almost every aspect of the mystery. I'll see how it goes I guess.

Wait, you might be cooking with the numbers theory 8 in Japanese 八 can be used for prosperity (also considered lucky in general) 9 in Japanese 九 is "unlucky" because it sounds like suffering 10 in Japanese 十 I don't think has a special connotation in Japanese but yknow, it's a cross "cross eyes" is a perfect literal translation of "Juuji Me" (十字目) with Juuji (十字) meaning cross and me (目) meaning eye, but since the first character Juu (十) individully means the number 10 it seems... suspicious. It could be a happy coincidence but I doubt it Ai Coleman is the lucky progenitor (8), followed by suffering and death with aikawa and kai (9 and 10)?

so far, the only number relevant enough was the Patient number of Ai Coleman that is in the intro song. the Number 9 might be a reference to the band Slipknot since Q Hayashida is such a big fan, and the number 8 can be a reference to the singer Corey Taylor, a stretch perhaps, but , the anime in Season 1 had several references to the band and even some cameos (as dead sorcerers on the Baseball field)

You're right, but at what point does something become more likely to be a hint/symbolism rather than an obscure reference? The number 9 popped up in the background more often than her name, MAPPA's, or Hayashi's IIRC. And at somewhat plot-related spots too. I guess it depends on if the number is emphasized in the manga as well, or if the connection to Slipknot is very clear to the fans. I wouldn't know either way.

Aicaimenzawa - "I just had this crazy week guys. So like, I was talking to my friend but then I ran away because my head and spine had to eject from my body like a chewed up cassette tape to make room for my evil head. That's so weird right? And I swear I've got some more heads in me too!" This is such a cruel, cruel cliffhanger to leave us on at the end of the season. At least it'll give Dokuga time to walk off that head wound. This season is stacked with great shows but this might still be my AOTS.

In a sense yes, Ai was change to Kai, and while Ai is a dormant personality, while Kai is like a version of Ai but with a Killer personality of wanting Magic. Aikawa is an alter ego made by Kai to observe people magic at the school, I feel like the way he hang out at school is to find interesting power for Kai. Kai can access to Aikawa memory or maybe even he’s just let Aikawa auto pilot and take control once he found a magic.
