For the type of anime that was shown to us until now is to be concerning we dont see the typical "wink wink" signal trope between the 2 of them... also even during those times i doubt a child would just be taken away on the spot like the anime seems to be showing lol But yah i expect the kid to do her "worse" in that noble family house, still wierd how the creator decided to show the scene to use viewers

That scene was lowkey heartbreaking to watch. Nonna started tearing up in sadness from seeing Vicky's "sad smile" (as Captain called it) after Vicky told Jeffrey "I don't want to keep relying on you to solve my problems in case you end up abandoning me in the future" Nonna is just following the example from her cool role model. She shouldn't get used to relying on Vicky in case one day Vicky goes out for "work" and never comes back (like Nonna's bio mom). On some level Vicky is broadcasting the message that although she WANTS to be there for Nonna as a parental figure if she goes with the Baron and Baronness Vicky would have less 'sad smiles' and could ride wild horses like Aleg more freely without having to worry about Nonna being in the saddle with her.

The couple show bad vibes: they're interested in Nonna because she looks like their dead daughter. The first thing the wife suggests is dressing her up and accessorizing her. This reads like 'replacement child syndrome', trying to metaphorically resurrect their loss, either out of guilt from the circumstances of the death, or hoping to project their hopes and goals of their lost child on Nonna. If this is pathological, they may go to extreme lengths to maintain the illusion, including claiming Nonna is happy with them after the end of the week, while trying to hide any inconvenient truth from Vicky. In this case, there would be no doubt they'd use their noble title to thwart any legal efforts to get her back. Not that Vicky relies on those sort of methods to get her way.

Old dude is definitely former intelligence himself The situation at the end is damn difficult, I feel for Victoria. I talked about it before but a common theme in this show is abandonment issues and loneliness, and Victoria suffers from them as well. So this stings. Nonna is clearly trying to follow Victoria's example by solving her own issues. By staying for a week and then deciding she wants to go back to Vicky the issue is pretty much shut down for good. But it hurts Victoria all the same

Nonna might’ve been thinking that this approach would create the least amount of trouble for Victoria. If she stayed with the Baron’s family for a week and declined their offer, they would have nothing left to say. Victoria’s refusal could’ve had potential consequences on the other hand. That said, Nonna probably forgot to consider Victoria’s feelings on the matter. She’s feeling very hurt right now.

Nona definitely has a reason for her choice but holy shit that was fucked up. You could see Vicky break in that moment, the one person she loves in the world with no hesitation seemingly decided to abandon her. Im hoping nona didnt leave because she felt like a burden due to Vicky's poor mood throughout this episode. I also suspect regardless of what nona wants the nobles arent just going to give her back, Vicky gonna have to Vicky and go reclaim her daughter. Todays anime are kinda fucked up between this ending and the ending of I want to love you til your dying day

The audacity of this couple to try and replace their dead daughter by taking away another person's daughter from them, and claim that the daughter won't be happy with the mother because she'll struggle financially. That was so damn absurd. I can't imagine how much pain Victoria is going through with this, especially with how her current identity has strongly revolved around Nonna.  I'm guessing Nonna's thought process was "Well I can say no after 7 days and they won't be able to bother me and Victoria anymore", but I hope Victoria doesn't start thinking Nonna wants to replace her. I wish there was more conversation between the two, but I'm guessing the shock prevented Victoria from stopping things.  On a more positive note, I really am enjoying how much Jeffrey flirts, he's so open about it it's refreshing. I like how Victoria enjoys it too, PLEASE get together lol.  Miles definitely has this charm about him being a veteran and all, but I like that he was onto Victoria's true nature. He seems like he's a good guy to have around, it was amusing how he was warning her about how she isn't doing her job properly lol.

It's not exactly so audacious, the baron and baronness recognize basic genetics, their maid has done the research to find out that Victoria isn't Nonna's biological mother and she's only caring for the child as a surrogate single mother. It would be in Nonna's best interests to live with a more financially-stable couple with TWO parents (and not sometimes The Captain as a pseudo daddy, and now Miles as a cool Unc-next-door who teaches her horse riding). Vicky has already had to tell Nonna to go home by herself and lock the door. Literally putting her in danger. Miles points out that Victoria shouldn't have allowed Nonna to be by herself with Miles when it's the first time they've interacted irl (she had no idea if he was a Friendly spy or not until he clued her in that he was on her side). The couple isn't wrong. Nonna WOULD be better off with them. I'm sure Eva realizes this too, and that's the only reason why she even allowed the Baron and Baronness to come inside and speak with Vicky and Nonna. I think even Nonna realized it at the end, logically/on paper she would be better off with 2 blonde nobles cosplaying as their dead blonde daughter. Her social status would rise, her life expectancy and potential to thrive would also increase, versus her staying with Vicky. Sure, Nonna's definitely gonna prefer to stay with Vicky because she doesn't know these 2 strange noble pips, but Nonna's biggest role models (both Vicky and also Nonna's actual mother) taught her to never rely on someone else that you can't forsure trust won't eventually abandon you. Again, Vicky's already put Nonna in danger of abandonment a few times in this series since taking guardianship of the child so Nonna made the logical choice (hoping to put in 6 quick nights of work at the Baron's house to prove that rational thought can be logically wrong while also proving that emotional bonds are can be objectively correct) to not only prove it to the nobles that she's better off with Vicky but also to prove to Vicky herself that she's better off being Nonna's guardian than these 2 rando blondies.

I assume she did it as a way to show Vicky she will still choose her and coincidentally it will let Vicky face her part without a hostage. The way Nonna phrases it is pretty clear "she intends to get this over with so that they can stop complaining about it". It was pretty obvious at that moment that they were going to keep pushing, so Nonna thought it was easier to just cut it off that way. Still hurts for Vicky though.

No wonder this is among the best directed episodes yet, loving the fast-paced work of Hiroshi Matsuzono (which was in his Detco stuff) and ED work of Ruijie Sun and Zeen (from the Shiboyugi movie) and they maintained Nobukage Kimura's anime to manga panel shift aesthetic again (looking forward to every cut like that in each episode). In the meantime, Vicky's past is definitely catching up to her and we get introduced to both Miles and Zaharo who is definitely not just a bartender hahahaha Also Cedric is really obnoxious LMAO In the meantime, though, I think I get why Nonna decided to come with that noble couple, and I don't begrudge her for that, but I can only hope we see everything concluded next week... Honestly, the baron couple were rather annoying in hitting Vicky where it already hurts so much.

It's good to see that Victoria and the bartender have an understanding. He won't sell her out and he's also a good source of information, resources, and a good drink/treat! We finally get to see Chloe on a mission for Hagl! Where poor Hans was put in a position he shouldn't have been as a rookie because Mary went off mission and Chloe had to watch the guy get multi-skewered by blades. At the time she compartmentalized his death, but now she can fully unpack how much it traumatized her. Can Victoria help give Nonna the childhood and friendship with the other girls that she never had? Even while buying material to make black wig "just in case?" Figures Vicky would go on morning runs to keep in shape and she looks REALLY good in pants, but she also happens to run into Miles Grant (Kazuhiro Yamaji), a military vet with too much time on his hands and who Victoria can commiserate over a shared love of horses! That a horse would also be convenient for an emergency getaway is just a nice bonus! I see Cedric couldn't leave well enough alone by straight up coming to Victoria himself...so he can formally apologize AND ask for hand-to-hand training! Who better to teach him than the lady who whooped his butt. No nobleman can call on Victoria without Jeffrey finding out about it, even if she fully intended to refuse the princes' offer. Jeffrey wants to be able to support/assist Victoria in any way he can, but she can't allow herself to fully rely on him, both because she just can't bring herself to completely open up and because she doesn't want to inconvenience him. Even though Jeffrey would do anything for Victoria. But at least they can share wine together and Jeffrey can open up about his past and his lost love, as Victoria comes to a better understanding of the man who has been courting her. I can only imagine how much foreplay would go into hand-to-hand "training" between the two of them, but even Vicky has to draw the line at not wanting the Captain to see her all sweaty with messed up hair and a killer intent...just don't make her say out loud why she doesn't want him to see her like that! Horse-riding and chestnut picking with Vicky, Nonna, and Miles! Complete with Victoria showing off her professional horse-riding skills, as befitting a former tomboy! Miles is too experienced/smart to not notice that Victoria is more than she appears, but her connection to Nonna means she's obviously good people and someone Miles is willing to be an ally for. I feel like he's definitely an old guy you don't want to mess with. Imagine Victoria gave a cake away as a courtesy and next thing you know Baron Hanson is calling upon her with his bereaved wife to adopt Nonna to replace the daughter they lost at a young age. Vicky obviously wants nothing to do with that, and Nonna is too much of a tomboy, but...why is Nonna agreeing to it!? E Tu, Nonna? Though I guess maybe Nonna is thinking of this as some kind of "mission" to temporarily stay with this family? But poor Victoria thinks she's being abandoned by her precious daughter.

Good deeds indeed do never go unpunished. Vicky gave the Hansons her apple pie and she then got Nonna taken away from her in return. Being around Vicky for quite some time certainly taught Nonna about independence. There's nothing wrong with going on a 'trial' run. Nonna herself noted that if she didn't like it she could return. The decision's ultimately up to her. Having said that, Nonna would likely prefer life with Vicky. While they only have modest wealth, she received the warmth and love of a family as compared to the Hansons who while abundant with riches, would likely not be as personal with her.

Not bad barkeep That's quick lol Nonna's a brave girl ! Grandpa acquired Yeah she really is Gramps is awesome Yada !! I sympathize with the baron and his wife and understand their pain but I feel like he's trying to like force his expectations of what he thinks their daughter could've been onto someone that's entirely different, Nonna deciding to stay with them is definitely her trying to prove that she can live without Vicky and not letting her worry about leaving her alone. Also I had a feeling that the old guy was strong

The baron and his wife barely know anything about Nonna, so they couldn’t particularly attached to her. They’re mostly keen to pretend that Nonna is their deceased daughter. The two girls might look very similar, but Nonna’s personality will undoubtedly be very different. She doesn’t care for dresses and sorts. I worry a little that they’ll turn abusive towards Nonna when their perceived vision clashes with reality.

Oh my! Vicky totally rocking on that horse I see (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵) I got threw off a bit seeing this supposed comedic moment of "Jeff finding out the prince visiting Vicky without his knowledge" in other show getting so serious by any moment in this show. Can't say I hate this kind of realistic approach though. My gut telling me these folks are Nonna real parents with how the mixed of their eyes and hair colors highly relate to Nonna which both of them confirmed this too. Even Vicky seems to think that way too. There's probably some kind of plots going on behind their child's 'death'. Many possibilities to consider here but if they really saw her body thus bury her or whatever then this theory totally fell off though. Nooo Vicky, don't be sad! Nonna just wants to prove that she won't stay with them even after playing with their rule to shut them up for real.

Victoria, I wish you found a dead woman named Chole to impersonate. Since that makes it so much easier on the viewers. People in-universe only know you by one identity so it's easy for them, but we know the name you choose isn't your original name. I bet young Chole told that girl "I told you so." Also, if you're doing spywork well, you don't need to fight. You should either be getting people to drop you info willingly because they think you're someone else, or do a Metal Gear Solid. Is the MC the only competent one among them? You don't need to worry about Nonna hanging out with the girls. I think she would like hanging out with the boys better. Young boys tend to prefer toys that move like toy trains, or balls and it sounds like that would be her thing. After all she likes tree climbing. I still maintain taking down that man at the party, even if the Marquess was innocent, was not the best decision for Victoria. And while I know she got away with the prison break, it wasn't worth the risk. Keep low profile. Well it seems that even if she can plausibly deny being the specific woman at the party, both Jeffery and Prince Conrad know she can fight. Hey Vicotria, you already caused Jeffery problems without even making a request. Jeffery was diligent enough to try to find the motive of episode 3's assassin. Even if he wasn't in charge of the investigation, he did communicate with others. If Jeffery wasn't diligent he would say "I don't know why that happened." and that would be the end of it. Instead, he did find out and tell Victoria. She then freed the prisoner. And now everyone who handled him is probably looking for who was incompetent enough to let someone bring in a saw. The guards are probably going to be questioned because that's the obvious place someone could have messed up, but everyone involved in palace security is probably going to get a check even if they didn't guard him. In effect Jeffery being diligent caused Victoria to inconvenience him. I wonder if we lost a pun in translation. Victoria is not a noble and by that definition she is a commoner. Even as a spy she would be a commoner. So the man would be wrong and Victoria would be right. But in Heian Japan there is a word that unambiguously means commoner and a second word that usually meant farmer (and in fact does mean farmer in modern Japanese) but was sometimes used in slag to call non farming commoners. I need to look this up and listen carefully. I don't remember the name of the guy taking care of the horses, when did he introduce himself? I need to rewatch. I'm a bit surprised he's letting her off easy. Victoria could be internal security for his kingdom... or her employer might have malicious intent. I know Victoria and Nonna don't look that much alike. But it's plausible for a dark haired girl to give birth to a blond. Heck, even if a child looks like neither parent, that's unusual but possible. If you look at all 8 of a child's great-grandparents and notice that the kid looks nothing like either parent or any of those great-grandparents, then it's time to wonder if one of the "parents" is actually a parent. Usually the father. So I think it's a bit premature to come to the conclusion they are unrelated. Or maybe since baby formula hasn't been invented yet, he reasonably concluded that there was no way Nonna could be fed as an infant while Victoria was working in this line of work. I forgot when did Vicotria meet Baron Hanson? Victoria was wondering "wait they can't be her parents right?" Well on one hand, it's obvious from Nonna's talk about her mother that this isn't the same woman. But I would be somewhat concerned about meeting her in the future. You just assumed her mother abandoned her. Why would a child be left alone for 6 hours? Surely it must be abandonment. Actually there are other explanations. Like maybe the mother was in a Carriage accidents in the victorian era? : r/VictorianEra and she was in the hospital while you scooped up Nonna. Now we as the viewers know you're right since that would have been shown, but your conclusion was premature. Baron's like "I want that kid. We're nobles. Why can't we have her?" At least his wife says they should get the opinion of Nonna. Someone she came up with a better custody dispute solution than Victorian Britain... or modern America. But the thing is Victoria isn't just your typical commoner and her past may come to reach her. She might have to flee. The fact that she got spotted while taking out the assailant at the party indicates she's not as good as Solid Snake. I don't why Nonna agreed to a trial run of 6 nights after first declining. Maybe it's to shut them up?

These two nobles telling Victoria she should think of Nonna's happiness, while only thinking of themselves. They don't actually want Nonna, they just want their dead daughter back and what better way than a lookalike (instead of adopting any other child or having another pregnancy). They probably won't be pleased with Nonna being herself and instead will try to make her be who they wanted their real kid to be. Might even get a scene where they call her the wrong name. Nonna isn't dumb though. She's probably planning to just put up with the week and then go "okay, I tried things with you now go away." Meanwhile Vicky is going to spiral thinking that Nonna is abandoning her.

I still am not sure what to think of adding another character like the old veteran to the cast, kinda curious what kind of pinch Victoria will be in by the time he lends his aid. I guess that’s about 2 people who knows about her background than anyone else in the story so far. That wine conversation was so good! It’s a subtle confirmation that Vicky is aware of herself catching feelings for Jeff. The red flags the couple wanting to adopt Nonna are blaring. I guess Nonna is more mature than the average kid to live with them for a week, but I’m pretty sure this couple will try their best to “change” Nonna to be like their deceased daughter, they won’t even acknowledge her real identity. Chances are they might not even take Nonna’s eventual refusal to be adopted well either. Poor Vicky being left in the dark on Nonna’s thoughts, but I hope she somehow realizes how much she actually means to her.

It's not a spoiler, it's what I think: I guess the couple will try to keep Nonna, claiming Vicky isn't fit to take care of her. The palace will investigate Vicky further, find something suspicious, and have her arrested for a while. Meanwhile, the prison guards will recognize her as the one who helped the ball attacker escape. Vicky will flee on horseback with Nonna, helped by the old horseman. Jeff will chase after her despite Cedric warning him that something is wrong with Vicky. He won't listen, and that's when Vicky will run into someone from her old organization…

I get the ending is for dramatic effect but do you really expect me to believe they just whisked her off like that immediately after Nonna agreeing to go?? no private talk? no sharing of game plan? kinda frikked up. I get that Nonna is doing what she believes is necessary to get these nobles off their back but still, there's no way she thinks this is the best way to go about it (unless they really did basically abduct her with no time to explain anything to Vicky). it just seems so unbelievable and forced.

Wonder why Nonna agreed to go with that couple. She's always been perceptive of Vicky's feelings and Vicky really didn't want to give her up even for a trial run. So why did Nonna go? Got the sense she was doing it for Vicky's sake but can't figure out how it could be good for Vicky. Also wonder if it's possible that Nonna was kidnapped as a 3 year old by the "mother" who abandoned her. Could she actually be the daughter of this couple?

I;m sorry but I don't think Vikky has anything to work about. The way and tone Nonna used to me was like she was pissed the way they shut her down like that. From what we have seen of Nonna she is very smart and perceptive. The way she said that it came across ok I'll play your game but I can say no in the end right? It is so wrong for the Baron family to even want to do that. She is not a replacement things would be like heaven for a bit and the what when puberty hits and she starts trying to be her own woman? At some point they will be reminded she isn't their real daughter only their attempt at a replacement.
