This was such a heartwarming final episode reflecting on all the memories we made with Kujima this past season. But more interestingly than that, I really like how instead of making it a big sob story about the family missing Kujima we got to see how everyone's lives moved forward from it. Seeing the family being all together (notice that they made sure to keep Kujima's chair right where it is!), Arata hanging out with Makoto and his friends from school, Suguru finally smiling at his new university with his new friends (and even being inspired to take a russian language class!), and the parents looking fondly at memories and putting Kujima in with the family photos as if he were a real family member. Really ties into that theme of healing. Kujima has helped everyone in little ways and we can really see them appreciate all those little developments that he helped make thanks to this segment. As mentioned last episode, the full OST is finally out . Its really nice, I love the different instruments they use in it, I highly recommend you check it out. I loved this being an epilogue. It was the buildup to Arata saying bye to Kujima. While the farewell is emotional, it was a tempoary farewell as Kujima comes back at the end. I love how the family accepts Kujima as a member despite how odd-looking he might be. He now has a home in Japan like he does in Russia he can come back to. I loved the addition of Suguru studying Russia; that alone adds another layer to the impact Kujima had on Suguru. Suguru and his character are very relatable and was the biggest strength to the show. This show is probably the most notable hidden gem because it gets very little traction, but this is a great show for Slice of LIfe fans.

Big bird’s made a lot of precious memories in his time with Arata and the family over the past 6 months. He sure had a huge impact on everyone around him during his stay. Well, at least it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later! I’m glad we got that final shot of him and Arata reuniting. This series had a pretty goofy and weird premise, but I really liked it a lot. It was really silly at times but it also had heart.

Your summation matches my feelings as well. Started it on a lark since the name and premise seemed silly but then liked it more than I’d even have expected and never regretted watching it, unlike a few others I started this season. Was quite fun and more touching than I expected. Of course I’ve been a sucker for other strange animal companion shows over the last few years. There needs to be a term for these kinds of shows akin to the CGDCT one. Strange animal companion doing wholesome things? (Epitome for me being “With You and the Rain”, which I’ve been in the mood to rewatch.)

i said this in the first episode discussion and i think it panned out: it feels like a classic late-night cartoon, a sort of slow-paced weirdness with emotional beats that hit different in the wee hours of the night it reminds me of Mr. Villain's Day Off which had a similar pace, but the MC there had a more soporific voice in any case, i can imagine this being a sleeper show in the sense that it's going to strike a chord with a few people, but the majority of people aren't going give it a shot because there's no real hook to the show aside from this weird birdman; in a way i find that oddly fitting because just like in the show you have to let the weird birdman into your house and meet him halfway before it starts to sing

There's also two more short stories! In Akira Konno's book "Helpful" there's a story about Kujima learning to cook with Maxim, and another story just after Kujima returns. Just a chapter each but hopefully we'll get some more short stories with the success of the anime There's also some prototype Kujima drawings that are unnerving lol. The author seems to draw a lot of cute/scary things and original Kujima leaned more towards scary. Also the role of Arata was originally the person who became Ruiko

So I don’t mean this as an insult. The series kind of gets a 1/10 for plot, because the premise itself never made sense (but it was never supposed to make sense. It was probably meant as an allegory), but the characters are like 100000/10 for me. Arata, Suguru, and Kujima are probably the three characters I’ve felt the most connection to of any show over the last few years. It’s insane. The show wasn’t realistic (and again probably wasn’t meant to be) but the subtle character developments and subtle messages were realistic and masterful. The way they made Arata do everything not to cry this episode for the sake of not making Kujima sad was so beautiful. Like omg. And when Arata finally gets to let it all out at the end, it was wonderful. It’s honestly my personal anime of the year because i haven’t felt this invested in any characters in a long time. And it was able to do all that with the craziest premise and plot! And the way they directed that last scene was beautiful

Big bro and lil bro activities That was nice of her, can't believe Kujima's leaving Kujima headpats!! so wholesome 🩵 This is a great title LOL THIS BIT HAD ME ROLLING Goodbyes are always hard, that whole montage of their times together was so emotional and Kujima crying had me tearing up too Its so nice to see Suguru smiling and laughing, Kujima really changed him Makoto-Chan can properly break eggs now!! She always had trouble with leaving eggshells in when she cooked with Kujima earlier, nice character development Arata can also now cook , i remember he struggled earlier when he made dinner for Kujima ! Papa reminiscing about his 3 sons🩵🩵 Doggo's back lol Aunty Ruiko and grandparents are back too!! It was nice to see Suguru and Aunty Ruiko talking in Russian with each other, he really misses his lil bro and Aunty Ruiko probably misses her nephew too lol KUJIMA'S BACK!! , it was so heartwarming to see them reunite I never imagined imagined that a show about a strange bird creature coming to live with a family in Japan would become one of my favourite animes of Spring 2026. It was really great and cozy and even deep at times with a really great cast, Even the OP and ED were so good to listen to, I never skipped them ! But unnfortunately it looks like the manga has finished and the anime has caught up to it, maybe we can get a sequel and a season 2 hopefully one day. It was a great ride watching this adorable and silly bird with ya'll, it really was Kujima: Why Sing, When You Can Warble? • Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo

Really unusual finale in that Kujima wasn't in most of it outside of clips and it was a very long montage of the Kodou family's life progressing. This show doesn't seem to have a big budget if it showed that many clips and I skipped over that part but I liked the rest of it. Life just seemed to move on for everyone. Suguru definitely had the most change as expected since he started university and he was shown to have made friends and took Russian class. Arata just seemed to do his thing and hung out with Makoto. My favorite part of the montage was Makoto learning how to crack an egg with one hand and making an omelet! I liked the ending as well and wasn't sure they would show Kujima returning, like it could have just as easily ended without that. I wish they showed some of Kujima's life in Siberia, like they could do it montage style since you wouldn't have to have tons of Russian voice actors. I don't think this show will return though so maybe they just wanted a happy ending. This was one of my favorites this season and I don't know why it wasn't more popular.

Hey, sometimes your bird member of the family just wants to go out on a walk like a dog in the middle of the night, nothing wrong with that, don't shame! I also like even at the Kujima leaving, its relationship with Suguru are still like bickering siblings. Having the year go by was really sweet and it was really nice to see growth in everyone after Kujima left. And it just as sweet to see Kujima return at the end of it. I feel healed.
