Whether you love or hate Mami, this episode dials up your emotions towards her to 11. From season 4 it was clear that she was plotting something big, and in the end she dropped a tsar bomba. So the big fat and ugly cat is out of the bag. But don't worry, as the cliffhanger promises, our "hero" Kazuya has yet another pathetic lie up his sleeves (even though he's not wearing a shirt right now). It feels almost nostalgic to have an episode that stretches a short moment to 20 minutes with all the inner monologue and talking. Nowadays it's rare to see storytelling like this in an anime. I'll leave it to you if that's a good or bad thing.

Ok I know this show isn’t a writing masterpiece but at least on average the episodes move around. Not necessarily plot wise but at least literally move from one location to another. This whole episode was at that one spot with not much meaningful dialogue. I guess this is what I get for watching this show but watching hot flaming garbage and watching nothing are two different things. This episode was the latter. And while I do think Mami needs and deserves a tight slap, can’t bring myself to hate her as a character. This show needs a villain

I normally don’t like to pile on too much on Kazuya because dude is already pathetic as is but it really amazes me he has not seen what kind of person Mami is. She’s actively blowing up his spot and he still thought there were moments when she was trying to help. Bro needs to grow a brain in addition to a damn spine. Kibe punching him felt very much deserved in the moment. I guess Kazuya finally decided right at the end of the ep to not just spend the whole time internally spiraling and pissing his pants like the sad sack he is. I’m very curious to hear how he’s gonna unfuck this situation.

What season is this? How long in the in-universe time has passed? Oh right, it's been 5 seasons (and many many years in our time), and 1.5 years (and XX months, XX days, XX hours, and XX minutes - to be as precise as Grandma Nagomi) in their time. All of this could have been condensed to much much less time. Yet, we all ate this dumpster fire shit up and keep watching it burn. Now, I know what Mami's there to do. Even the "oh it was a fake" plan did not pan out to "save" them because the site was immediately verified. I love what she is doing. She has a motive, no matter how unjustified it is, but that's a separate topic to be discussed that involves her shitty father. Kibe on the other hand. I'm not exactly sure what he was doing. Was he helping or hurting? Surely he knows, yet he had to question Kazuya on the spot? He later then punched his best friend in the face, stating that Grandma Nagomi was going through some stuff. I really don't understand if his words and actions are ultimately going to help our pathetic little MC. And speaking of him, like I said earlier, instead of running through all his doomsday thoughts, he could have started defending himself and Chizuru. But no, let's all have them be shell shocked for nearly a full episode.

Five seasons of lying have finally caught up to Kazuya and Chizuru thanks to Mami's "accident." Oh no! If only Mami had been more careful with her phone! It was totally unintentional! And now Kazuya and Chizuru have to reap the web of lies they've been spinning while having a perpetual panic attack. Bless Kazuya's mom for trying to roll with this and be understanding, even if the ring thing just ends up making Chizuru feel more guilty. Man, Mami is GOOD. Acting like this was photoshopped to pretend like she's covering for them...when Granny Nagomi can search it up herself. To think all this could have been ended if someone else in the cast just googled her. Oof. That look Nagomi gave Kazuya...just a piercing, straightforward, gaze trying to get to the heart of how much he'd been lying to her. To finally let him be honest with her. All the while validating all the doubts she had about how unrealistic Chizuru was as his girlfriend. Kazuya is like the LAST person who should be able to handle a crisis situation, especially when his dad realizes what he's been spending his money on, though if he was going to take responsibility for what happened so Chizuru didn't have to...he didn't account for Mami trying to pivot and throwing Chizuru under the bus. All those times Chizuru rejected the chances Mami gave her means now Mami is going scorched Earth and pinning most of the blame on Chizuru and the lies she's told. And the one that hits hardest for Granny Nagomi is the fact that Chizuru was lying to Granny Sayuri up until her death. Granny Sayuri really believed in Kazuya and Chizuru as a couple, maybe more than either of them really did at the time, and she helped Nagomi believe in them too...and that just makes this even harder as she stares at Chizuru and breaks her heart when she confronts Chizuru over lying to Sayuri. And then Granny Nagomi just...gives up and can't deal with this any more. It's understandable Kibe can't make sense of this dynamic because Kazuya and Chizuru have been trying to do the same for five seasons. And even if Kazuya feels Chizuru shares none of the blame, it takes two to tango. Though Kibe can only punch Kazuya. What's there left to do? Other than, apparently, having Kazuya confess his feelings NOW of all times. "Climax and Girlfriend" - Wasn't that last week with the boner and NTR dream?

This made me more uncomfortable than today’s rezero episode. Kazuya even got choked up more. Man, I think the mores disappointing part of this is the adults letting this drag on out in the open for everyone to hear. The mom and dad should have been more adult like and immediately shut this down and brought everyone into private involved and had the people not involved wait somewhere else. There’s no reason to let others like kibe stay involved when it’s really none of their business. It’s easy to hate on Kazuya but all the adults in the room are literally doing absolutely nothing to help the situation.

Serves Kazuya and Chizuru right for having this exposed lol. They shouldn't cry like they're victims in this situation. This is what happens when you keep putting off ending the rental relation relationship for stupid reasons and even going to Hawaii together FOR TWO YEARS. Spending his family's college money for renting a girlfriend is insane. Don't know why the series pretends that Mami's wrong when she's got a point - Chizuru and Kazuya HAVE been deceiving their grandma for 2 years knowing she wanted a successor and she TOOK THE RING even if she did give it back. Kazuya's dumb blind idolization of Chizuru also annoyed tf out of me. "Why is Mizuhara painted as being the one in the wrong" Because she literally also had a hand in this?? They both still lied to her dying grandma until the end even though she didn't want to hear the truth because she was close to death. I'm so happy he got another well deserved punch to his face after so long. It won't fix his behaviour though. WHY WOULD YOU CONTINUE LYING IN THAT SITUATION KAZUYA?? THIS IS ONE OF THE DUMBEST DECISIONS ANYONE'S EVER MADE IN ANIME HISTORY. ACTUAL SCUM BEHAVIOUR JUST BECAUSE HE WANTED TO PROTECT HER FROM ALLEGATIONS THAT WERE ALL TRUE
