Did anyone else notice that Botan kept making suggestive comments towards Ibuki after only a single sip of alcohol, but didn’t flirt with Gujo-senpai at all? In other words: it’s because of the person, not the drink. I adore cosy anime about dorm life like this. It’s especially nice when there’s a coming-of-age element to the show. Like how Botan realised that she’s now responsible for keeping her own room clean.

As someone who attended a Japanese university, I found this anime really interesting. Judging by the scenery the protagonist described at the beginning and the ending credits, it seems the story is set in Chichibu. Chichibu is a town surrounded by mountains, about a two-hour train ride from Tokyo. For better or worse, Chichibu has the impression of being a town rich in nature. I had to laugh at the fact that Botan’s character is set up as “a first-year university student who is 20 years old because she took a gap year before entering university,” presumably to avoid depicting underage drinking. Given how strict the Japanese anime and manga industry has become in recent years regarding the depiction of underage drinking, I suppose this was an unavoidable measure (in reality, many first-year university students are 18 years old). Judging by the flashback scenes from her past, the reason Ibuki started avoiding drinking in public might be that she was teased at a drinking party or something about her habit (or maybe it’s just her constitution?) of getting the hiccups whenever she drinks. That’s really sad. I found it interesting (and couldn’t help but chuckle) that all the sake and manju that Botan, Ibuki, and Kanade were drinking and eating were local specialties from Chichibu and Saitama Prefecture, where Chichibu is located. 十万石まんじゅう(Jyumangoku manjyuu) was particularly easy to understand, since it’s a stereotypical Saitama specialty, I think it was easy to grasp even for Japanese viewers like me who aren’t from Saitama or Chichibu. Those two are so kind to have brought some easy-to-drink sake and wine for Botan, who’s new to drinking. Especially when it comes to sake, there’s a common stereotype in Japan that many college students and young people “buy whatever cheap sake they can find at an izakaya or supermarket, get traumatized by the taste, and end up avoiding it from then on.” Botan’s senior, who made sure that didn’t happen, is a really great person.

I totally believed you when you only meant that you wished you have Ibuki's cultivated wine-tasting skills. After what you said to her back at the fair. I dismissed her lack of regard for the indirect kissing as an adult thing. How only teens (especially in anime) would make a big deal out of it. However, seeing as she kept making suggestive comments to Ibuki, I have a feeling that she actually welcomed it instead. If Botan said they should have some tea, Ibuki should've brought some *Long Island Iced Tea* instead. It'd be a win-win situation. Yeah, this show is perfect for me. Adult cast, CGDDT (cute girls doing drunken things). What's not to love about those?

One of the shows i most anticipated for this season solely because i love CGDCT anime, combine it with yuri and it's even better. Damn not being able to drink without getting hiccups must suck. Laughed out loud when Botan said how she'd love to make Ibuki's tongue hers, that sounds super suggestive. A fun and cute first episode, the only downside is that this makes me crave alcohol. Also the eyecatches looked nice!

Happy to see a Cute Girls Drinking Cool Things anime with drunk Nijika hitting on(?) Bocchi. And it's great to hear Touko from *Bloom Into You* again! I love the style of the OP, they captured that friends-on-old-film vibe really well. I miss alcohol... can't drink anymore for health reasons. But I still wholeheartedly welcome this season's Drinking Fridays, between this and *The Drops of God*. Though Botan and Shizuku (from *Drops*) are at opposite ends of the tasting ability spectrum.

They are all so gay for each other, I love it. This feels like all the “themed” SoLs such as yuru camp, ruri rocks etc., as there might be a chance we learn something about alcohol while having girls crawl upon each other. “I want to make that tongue of yours mine” would make me go wild if someone I was slightly interested in said it to me. Botan is the absolutely smoothest operator out there when empowered by booze. To me, Gojou-Sensei was the best girl so far, I need some yuri stuff between her and whoever comes her way.

Anybody else got the feeling like they are Rin and Nadeshiko a bit even has kinda pinkish hair like Nadeshiko trying to befriend the loner girl tho this one felt so much more yuri with the lines she spouted my god. Cute Girls Doing Drunk Things? Also the home video vibe of the OP is fantastic and the song is great too. If the rest of the episode holds up its end of the bargain this is going to end up an absolute keeper for me. God she's so cute hiccupping with that high ball in her lap. And holy shit for never drinking before Botan was DOWNING that drink. Weird crotch zoom, even if it was technically to show she was hiding something behind her back. STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARE. Such a stupid trope and I giggle every time an anime does it. Wait is this Drinking the Anime or Legal Vices the anime? Now we've got smoking. Kamiina is going to build a harem the way she flirts with everyone so relentlessly. Okay Senpai is flirting right back holy crap. I wasn't expecting it to go this flirty this fast, but I dig it. Chill ED feels appropriate for this show, really cute. Simple imagery but I don't mind if a studio doesn't throw a ton of animation power at the ED if the song fits and they spend it in the show proper. Yeah after one episode I cannot imagine dropping this show, what a sweet beginning. This season might be more stacked than last...

There’s reckless drunks, sad drunks, goofy drunks, this one seems to be a gay drunk. You may need to rein her in if she’s gonna continue being so flirty whenever she drinks. She’s a tech-engineering mayor? If the horror stories I’ve heard are correct, she’ll need the drinking to cope. I hate smoking in real life but I have to agree with Botan here, it’s way nicer when an anime character does it without any of the nasty consequences. Wait, is that a knockoff Ingmar Bergman movie or is that what the film covers actually look like in Japan? Thank god Botan seems to have her eye on just the one girl, even when drunk. Otherwise, this could have spiraled into a Watanare situation at a frightening pace. Oh. Senpai’s got a crush on Ibuki? Close enough to blue hair, she’s doomed. Hope there’s someone else in the cast to pair her up with or else this is gonna feel bad. Ibuki’s falling for her new “drinking partner” already. Can’t exactly blame her, “I wish I could steal your tongue” is insane flirting game. It’s the end of the episode but I just realized I should probably be drinking to this show. Oh well, maybe next time.
