Like frontier said, I'd argue it has a lot do with a high opinion of the other, each seeing the good parts of the other, while focusing on the negative parts of themselves. I actually think the uncertainty and self-doubt are pretty common traits among adolescents in real life. Comparing our weaknesses with other peoples strengths is an extremely common psychological fault. Maybe I'm just remembering back to my own uncertainty and self-doubt as an adolescent, but in my opinion, it feels more like an actual adolescent exploration of self, relationships, and romance; as compared to other anime that feel like adult mentality and processing that they've shoved into adolescent bodies with a few negative tropes shoved in. It's not a healthy mentality, but to me it's an understandable one. Part of the joy of a relationship is the support and perspective you can offer the other and that they can offer you, so I imagine that's going to be a defining or turning point in the anime. When will they speak up about their perspective on the other persons strengths, when will they help lift each other up to see the value of the other?

Yeah, this was the first episode that I was rolling my eyes at the two leads. Like, they get to the edge of actually making some kind of tangible progress then just immediately back away to maintain the status quo because they're both feckless cowards. The cute stuff is indeed cute, but at tthis point it's just showing that there will be zero progress in this relationship at all. Which really isn't for me. It's just a more wholesome rent a girlfriend. Not dissing anyone that's into this kinda thing, but it's just not for me.

These two are usually horny, dorky, idiots but this episode was so thick with genuine sexual tension you could slice a knife through it. Miku in a shower! With more steam than you can throw a fanservice scene at! But it's also helping her double down on the fact that she's staying over at her crush' place and she has no idea how she can possibly turn this around into a win for her in the Love Game! But she's going to put her all into competing anyways. Ooh! The "wearing your crush' clothes" move! Super effective! Especially for the Boyfriend Shirt vibes. And Miku is turning her flirting up to 11, even if Yukiya seems to recoil every time she does. Wakana just wants to game and sleep with Miku...but there's a special place reserved just for her in HIS futon. Even if that means he has to get really aggressive with her and push her down. Are they really doing this? Do they want this? Are they ready for this!? But then Yukiya can't do it and Miku brings up whether it's time to truly "end" the "Love Game." Because she's seen how Yukiya has been keeping his emotional distance from her and she doesn't want it to ruin their friendship...but what does the "Love Game" truly mean for these two? A reason for them to improve themselves to feel worthy to stand beside the person they love, a reason to always have the other person on their mind at all times, to be able to act on their feelings and make the one they love see them at their most attractive...that's what the "Love Game" is. And that's why they're still doing it. So for now this round of the Love Game ends with Yukiya and Miku in bed together...holding hands...embracing and falling asleep together. And that's absolutely precious. If they thought they could get away without Wakana discovering they slept together...they thought incorrectly. Another day of going to school together! But it's also just another step in the "Love Game!"

Never took Yukiya for a puritan. Getting turned on by ankles. How has he lasted this long? Also what's with picking up the cup just to sit down and put it back down? Sit down then grab and move it lol. Yeah these two just need to make out with tongue already. Okay that's bold, pushing her down and turning the lights off. Sis really does sleep like a psychopath good grief. Oh wow didn't expect suggesting ending the love game so soon. Don't see it happening because it removes the entire premise of the show, and I assume the source material has way more than one season worth of content. And this moment is way cuter than I expected. Now kith. Sigh the "I don't deserve..." trope is so played out. It is a real feeling but too many romances play with it but without exploring the idea beyond the basic version. And we're back to the wall slam but not really a variation sadly. Honestly going back to the episode 1 setup feels like ending the season not episode 7. Strange.

I was actually happily surprised with how they handled the "I don't deserve" trope. With the context of the previous episodes, it felt way less superficial than in other romcoms. Yukiya feels like he is too much of an introverted nerd for Miku. Meanwhile, Miku is constantly doubting if she's cute and pretty enough to be seen as a girl by her childhood friend. It's a decently well presented mixture of self doubt and seeing the other person as too good for themselves.

Well, well. If it isn't the consequences of Miku's actions lol. Always a fun time when a girl sees an opportunity to pull a "boyfriends clothes" and takes it. You could feel the tension start build after she came out wearing his clothes and it only ratcheted it up later when they were alone. They're usually just dorks, but them talking at night and cuddling/embracing like that was thick with sexual tension. I guess with the conclusion of this "arc" they realized that the Love Game and their feelings for each aren't mutually exclusive. The Love Game made them better people and brought them closer. Maybe they'll just call it off as a no contest. Unfortunately, what's not concluded is Wakana's suffering because she still has to endure watching them not to mention she thinks they had sex lol. That callback to episode 1 was a nice callback to end the episode on. Curious what comes next.

Oh boy it's a slumber party! Pancakes Save The World. That is a great shirt. It'll pair well with a "Peanuts is Freedom" shirt. And here's Miku's opening gambit, the powerful Boyfriend Shirt right out the bath! Miku + Wakana = Good Friends Yukiya, with an apparent long standing obsession with Miku's Ass Groove. Aww, Wakana's a Sleepy Sheepy. Well I think Miku was thinking maybe a few rounds of Smash but some Love Play in the Dark on the other hand... You say you're not adequate enough for Miku or whatever, but isn't that also her decision whether she thinks you're adequate or not? But even so, the fact that for one reason or the another the other person inspired each of them to want to be a better person in general is touching. And they cuddled. All. Night. Long. Miku's urge to tease: Fading... Fading... Fading... Rising! And even after that heartpounding night they had, their cosmic ballet goes on. All the while Wakana's just standing around watching these two be in their own little world while thinking, "Will these two just get out of their own ways already..."

I don’t know what it is but this show manages to balance really funny jokes and teasing alongside moving heartfelt moments of introspection and struggle in a way I wouldn’t have believed possible without seeing it with my own eyes. Sure the ongoing facade feels a bit unnecessary at this point, and they’re aware of that, but I like the idea of them continuing to grow closer and improve themselves without the risks and pains that might come with jumping into a relationship. If nothing else, it seems like they need to work on their confidence in themselves and their trust in the other to believe they’re right for each other. …That being said I won’t be mad if they just kiss and get together immediately! The tension is killing me.

Just staying together and talking their feelings out is a great thing. They're honest that the game is the reason they're still so close, and you know darn well that Miku's beauty is driving Yukiya to be the Ikemen he's truly become! A relationship built on building each other up is such a grat one to see! Poor Wakana has to suffer through this, but the rainbow at the end will be beautiful for sure! Now... Next episode is about the student council president! I'm fonna enjoy it fo sure!

So that was another "basically a confession but not really", and the real one won't come until both of them develop a bit more self-confidence that I'm not entirely sure why they lack. I guess they had really awkward youths that they haven't quite gotten over yet. Meanwhile, Wakana is a Schrodinger's sufferer, where it's technically the result she wants, but she doesn't really want front row seats to it.

Well things got spicier, it was nice to see Yukiya being a bit more assertive, Miku was very much not ready for that side of him lol. They've definitely closed some distance after that night, both their bodies and souls.  They're both overcomplicating things by wanting to be worthy of the other, even though they suspect the other has feelings for them too. I understand the feeling, but they can still work to be worthy of the other while being together lol, but easier said than done.

I'm getting too frustrated with this show to continue. They literally sleep together and still nothing happens. I think this show would be watchable if the two were more competitive about the game, but both spend the entire episode length whimpering to the other. Yukiya's main defense these days is negging Wakana. Anything she does that's clearly sentimental he's got to make a snide dismissive remark. Wakana starts off competitive in the latest few episodes but turns to mush after her idea doesn't instantly win her the game. I think her methods would be funny if Yukiya wasn't so mean to her. My significant other is beginning to think there's something mentally wrong with me for watching this show. I gotta stop watching this show. There's something highly addictive about this show but it hurts to watch.

I think this show would work if they were more competitive. Maybe with even more lampshading, having other characters acknowledge that they're obviously a couple and should just admit it. Though I'm not sure even that's enough. Sometimes a premise is too thin. The Poseidon Adventure has people escape a ship that's upside-down. It's great for half a movie but then the upside-down escaping wears out and you think "that's all there is to this?" This show is that. One idea that can't be stretched this far. Too vanilla. Needs spice. I was thinking maybe the little sister should be tasked with keeping score. Award points every time someone blushes.

Lol. Convenient steam. They're a bit too close in size for it to really work as the "oversized boyfriend shirt" trope... Lol the moment he sat down she moved her butt over to him. Why's she stopping him? Yeah... He probably should. And so now he's on top of her. Ok... Troubling him? Played? Indeed. Ok... So this is the second romance anime this season where the guy thinks he doesn't deserve the girl. And so they're lying next to each other. Handholding! He's hugging her! Lol he's sniffing her hair. Roll credits! His sister is going to walk in on them like that isn't she? Or not. His sister is definitely going to realise something is up between them... Yep. And so kabedon again. But that doesn't work on her anymore lol. He hugged her! Lol his sister is watching them flirt right in front of the front door again...

I still wish they would have explored the fact they drifted apart more in depth and really emphasized it. I think they atleast drifted apart for a while? It was like somewhat told/hinted at. They really needed to go more in depth with it because right now, them getting so insanely flustered at each other doesn’t make sense a lot of the times with how good of friends they’re supposed to have been. The tension in this episode would have hit wayyyy harder if they had because it would be a lot more obvious why he’s so shy around her and afraid of doing anything.

I have always hated the whole thinking you are not good enough for someone. You build up a version of them and then believe you are not good enough to be with that version. That is for them to decide not for you to block progress and such due to thinking that. So many relationships don't happen or fail from that crap that could have been perfectly fine. In this one they both have the same feelings and are blocking proper enjoyment of each other and having an actual relationship rather than playing a game.
