###Stitches * Miku 1 * Miku 2 * Miku 3 So we basically have a game of "I love you" Chicken between these two idiots. They both want to end the game so they can confess to each other properly, but they're too deep into the hole to allow themselves to lose because losing means humiliation and a lifelong teasing from the winning side. I hope this isn't a status quo series and we actually get to see some progress between the two if them.

This episode was extremely lovely. Pure childhood friend teasing for 10 minutes! As a fan of the manga since it first released, I'm so glad to see the iconic shots recreated and animated! And the voice acting elevates the anime so much. Miku Ito's Miku (lol) shows her teasing and smug nature so well. Kaito Ishikawa's Yukiya is confident and rightfully so! He's so prepared! Yet they both have their nervous moments. Because why not, their crushes are so handsome and beautiful! The Kabeon unnerving both of them is so cute! I'm so happy for Yuki Domoto! It's been a long time since Necromance stopped. She(?) said she wanted to make a manga that would get an anime before continuing with that, and now I'm glad they finally got their anime! Now, to the next episode!

A love confession, one minute into the first episode? Oh wait, that's the premise of this show. She admitted it was real halfway into the episode, but I think it was rather obvious she loved him for real, even back then! Damn. It would flow better if he didn't look like he was about to attack her! Ok nevermind she WANTS him to 'attack' her! Seems it's gonna be one of those "Everyone knows they're a couple, except said couple"! *"4 years we've watched them flirt. If they don't confess this year, I'm poisoning their meal"* Well she's into it! Anything, huh? I think they should kiss, "for the game"... Or get married, "for the game"..! I expected her to give him one last "I love you" before leaving, so when she said "Uncle" I thought *What kind of weird ass roleplay is she doing?* Took him a bit longer, but our boy fell for her HARD! *Don't drink it all, I want an indirect kiss too!* (I know it's a common romcom trope, but good lord, I think 50% of my anime this season had an indirect kiss scene!) Not gonna lie, just SEEING it, hurt my soul. Second anime I've seen with some sort of love game, in which the guy wanted to use manga stuff to get the girl flustered! Hah. She may have the curves of a wooden plank, but she has a the confidence of a triple D porn star, and that's all that matters! Girl, his eyes are up there! *Do I really have to watch you 'not-flirt' for half an hour straight?* Poor side characters on this show, they must be waiting for them to get together, even more than romcom fans on their 3rd season of a no-progress anime!

“Are they lovers?” “Worse, they’re fucking stupid.” (They’ll turn the adjective into the verb eventually. Right?) When the bit suddenly stops being just a bit and now they’re too deep into the hole they’ve dug themselves to quit without losing years worth of effort and built up embarrassment. I was about to bemoan the lack of Miku POV but thankfully it showed up. It’s just not the same without hearing the thoughts of the “masterminds” from both sides of the idiotic exchange. They’ve studied the art of the shoujo manga, they’re too dumb to pull it off properly and way too stubborn to admit it. The way they’re giggling like manic supervillains in front of the class list is just frying me. I don’t understand why they think they need to worry about other people trying to get with the other before them. No one is going to even think about dating either of them after week one when how infatuated they are with each other and the extent of their idiocy becomes clear. The game of romantic chicken continues!!

Okay I was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I did, that was a lot of fun to watch. It's funny how the win condition went from blushing to admitting defeat, I bet a part of them don't want the game to end so they can continue with the flirting.  I like how the people around them are aware of their feelings, and just see this game as a part of them. I'm curious to see how their classmates will react, unless they'll keep it under wraps until they're alone.

If I have a nickel every time Miku Ito played a character who shared her name in a romcom, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. Yukiya’s quite the meticulous person when it comes to research. Look at his shoujo manga that’s full of post-its. Unfortunately, he’s not quite strong at offence for he suffered heavy recoil everytime he pulled a move against Miku. Why was the one who started the Kabedon the one who got flustered? These two are a riot when they tried to pull one over the other. Miku seemed to be in the lead with how she’s better at concealing her reactions. Yukiya had better step up or he’d lose the game.

The trailers and synopsis for this gave me Kaguya-sama vibes so I had to check this out. I did not disappoint. Instant keeper for me. I love how there's also an element of Everyone Can See It too. To Miku and Yukiya this game is serious business, but to Miku's aunt and uncle this is just "their show". I like the Miku's twintails/pigtails too. They're a cheat code for good character design for me. Place your bets folks. Who breaks first? Yukiya or Miku?

This looks like it should be a lot of fun. Not only the leads, but also little sister are utterly charming. BUT... Do young people really ever behave like this. I don't recall ever behaving (or wanting to behave) in this self-sabotaging and coy fashion. Granted I am more than 55 years past this point in time. But this is not behavior I would expect for people of high school (or even middle school) age.

The waitress(the woman watching them play the love game at the start) had a bit of drool on her lips, she must REALLY love watching kids flirt. And I'm curious if we ever get her POV since so far it is all him. I think both would be more fun here but we'll see what they actually do. Oh god he's using romance manga for advice. This trope always goes well. God our boy is down bad. Oh good here is her POV. Okay so yeah this really is Childhood Friends Love is War. She's even flat like Kaguya. Wall slam backfired, classic trope. They are goobers which is perfect for this type of romance. Brief lewd hand holding too? We feasting early. Little sister is a cutie pie too Digging the piano here at the end as well as the vocalist's voice. Dunno that this will be a no-skip but I dig it. Same class! And the giggling as they fantasize... I say it again. Goobers.

This really is Kaguya-sama Love is War lite. Which isn't a bad thing because if you ask me Kaguya-sama is the all time best romcom ever made. So anything that's able to capture even a part of what made Kaguya-sama so good is pretty damn good in of itself. This really managed to capture the rivalry and the deeper reasons behind it really well. I also enjoy of the teasing isn't one sided and they inflict plenty of self damage upon themselves as well (an issue I had with teasing master takagi-san is that nishikata never seemed to have any wins, I dropped it because I was starting to feel bad for him. Meanwhile in Kaguya-sama the battles are more evenly won) Will be watching more of it

It's like Kaguya-sama except more brash and more dense(?). All she needs is an "o kawaii koto" to complete the act. Also it has nothing to do with anything, but they got Roswaal/Benno/Shiropapa/Dio to voice the manager. ... so all it would take is for Miku to forget her bag and go back in the middle of his rant to win. This imbalance is also making me predict that Miku has someone she waxes poetic about Yukiya to. Oh no, another dense ML who unironically uses shoujo manga as a guide. Lucky for him Miku probably thinks he's cute. Come to think of it, what are the win cons of the Aishiteru game anyways? Yukiya's already been visibly flustered plenty of times. Me looking at Yukiya making his big plans: "She's outside his door, isn't she?" ... How is him collapsing on the ground from cuteness overload not a loss condition? If all she wanted was for him to call her cute, she could've just let him go through his scripted suave lines.

If I had a nickel for every romcom anime where Miku Ito played a girl named Miku and was Best Girl, I'd have maybe 2-3 nickels which isn't a lot but it's a trend I'm happy about. What happens when you're playing Splatoon and your childhood friend suddenly says "I love you?" Do you take it seriously? Or do you play it off and then begin an "I love you game" that will take you well into your teenage years? That's where we find our would be lovebirds Yukiya (Kaito Ishikawa!) and Miku (MIKU Ito!) even down to the OP where it's all about them, their relationships, how they see each other, and how their feelings for each other carry them everywhere. Yukiya and Miku are now teenagers but the "I love you" game is still in full force with no sign of a clear winner...even as Miku has become a merciless and adorable teaser and Yukiya is using every ounce of his restraint not to give in to her teasings. Miku has a very nice butt as well. But despite his resistance, Yukiya is head over heels for Miku and finds her utterly irresistble...even if he can't let her know that. Sure, the "I love you" game started as the only thing he could ever not let her beat him at, but then came middle school where he finally became aware of her as a girl and 100% fell for her. Now he's trying to turn himself into a proper teen heathrob to make Miku swoon and truly want HIM for a love interest. All the while Miku's uncle (Takehito Koyasu!) and the blonde beautie employee Hinako (Yui Ogura!) watch on and bask in the teen romcom idiocy. Ah yes, taking extensive notes of Shojo manga. Obviously the perfect method for succeeding at romance! How is Yukiya going to compete with how amazing Miku looks in her school uniform? A visual she is HAPPY to flex for him right outside his door? I mean, she put all this effort to look her prettiest because she too has been in love with Yukiya the whole time, ever since she started the "I love you" game, and she too is trying to make him see her as the absolute cutest. These two are really are a match made in romcom dumbness! He hits her with the classic kabedon! She hits him with the extremely short skirt to show off her thighs! His sister Wakana (WAKANA Muroaka!) hits them with the fact that all this morning flirting has made them late for school! I'd say it was a draw but a come from behind victory for the little sister. Can't even run to school without having a lovers' spat or staring longingly at each other amidst cherry blossoms! A teen romance must. Thank God! They're in the same class! Now it's absolutely certain that the "I love you" game will end this year for them! And they're already plotting their absurd flirtation game while laughing like idiots. The ED is cute and to the point, with visuals of Yukiya braving the rain just to bring an umbrella for Miku! He didn't have to since it cleared up, but at least they get to walk home together

The "I Love You Game", a game where everybody wins yet also is a game with no winners. Either way, Happy to see this one in animated form. Fun read it's been thus far. Though not without it's share of headache inducing bits. You think that Not-Splatoon they're playing had a crossover promotion with Ika Musume too? If this was Uzaki-chan those Cafe employees would be eating the rice. It's fun seeing just how equally down bad she is on the other side of the coin. And here comes the little sister, armed with a cold splash of reality.

Not bad start both MC are cute when they interact but man the cgi takes me out of it everytime like the swap. If it was always cgi fine but the constant switch really just takes me out. Thinking this right now like a kinda diet kaguya sama love is war maybe? bit less com more cute? Anyways though these two really should be dating by now like the game has been going on for 4 years+? if it lasts until end of the highschool that's 7 years? at least kaguya sama there's kinda situation/station difference and how long they've know each other + huge pride on both sides but like these two just date already.
