I actually think the best part was that short sequence where Suika was on her own. IMO it really captured the loneliness of being on your own, along with the underlying messages of the entire series that with tenacity and the wisdom of the ages we can do anything.

It is unfortunate that season 1 was really the best the show got. Season 2 was nearly as good. Season 3 I felt was a noticeable step down because the crafting and science buildup felt much more rushed over, and that aspect unfortunately intensified the closer we got to the end.

Yeah they kept ramping up the threats and made the science take a backseat. But to play devil's advocate, a lot of the work they were doing at that point was less exploration and more "here's a concept from the modern world that we can use". Season 1 had a lot of crafting and foraging which can't really be skipped with knowledge, but the later innovations (though severely rushed) are easier to arrive upon once the fundamentals (that take a lot of time to set up) are established.

Season 3 has less direct confrontation, even though I think that's what made this anime so interesting due to all the unexpected possibility. Things just never went with Senku's plan lol. The crafting and science part are also great, but sometimes it's just less exciting due to predictability. That being said, I truly appreciate season 3 for finally making me understand the principle of computer chip and pixel monitor. Before this, my logic just couldn't comprehend how a small chip could help a computer nor do how monitor display works to produce image.

Given the to be continued line. I’m pretty sure we’ll get 4d adapted eventually. It’s 3 chapters (about 1 volume) so I think it’d be pretty workable as a 40 minute ova or maybe a movie if they filled it out a bit more

That's not even an issue. If they can use the time machine to affect the present by changing the past it'd just "undo" half of the cast (senku village) since they wouldn't exist unless petrification happened.

The best way to utilise time travel in fiction (imo) is where it creates alternate time lines but does not affect the one you started from. So potentially you can go back grab people before they die and take them back to your own timeline. You are therefore ‘saving them’ but otherwise leave your own timeline unaffected by paradoxes.
個人的には、タイムトラベルをフィクションで活かす最良の方法は、別のタイムラインを作りつつ元のタイムラインには影響を与えないってやつだと思う。つまり、人が死ぬ前に過去に戻って連れてきて、自分のタイムラインに連れ帰る感じ。そうすれば「救う」ことはできるけど、パラドックスで自分のタイムラインは変わらないんだよね。普通くん

Without going into spoilers, the way they handle things in 4D Science is very much done with the utmost care. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised upon seeing the anime version.

I’m so glad to see both of them end up with their love interests. They they all did it so well. Taiju did multiple weddings just to make sure all their friends could be a part of it and Chrome just casually asked Ruri to marry him after the time machine. Such amazing ways of doing it.

I heard when time machine ending got a bit of heat when it first came out 4 years ago. So they released a few follow up epilogues concluding the status of the time machine if it worked or not.

i think they did so as the time machine will eventually be completed and the world might be reverted to where it was before the petrification...which is where we are right now. the "to be continued" was meant for us. or atleast thats what i like to think

Lol, when Senku highlighted 10 years I just realised there's almost no difference on them appearance-wise. Well, they say the petri-beam basically repair your cell (that's why they can even fix any sickness). I guess it makes sense it also made them forever young. Also there's still minimum pollution in Stone World compared to the old world.

Definitely seems like they got that time machine working. In all seriousness: considering the criticisms I've heard about the characters seeming to never age visually, I feel as if had Boichi's beginning art style been used for the ending and vice-versa, no one would be making those complaints.

Yeah, Boichi’s own art style changed over the course of the manga’s run and the show simply followed. His original look for the characters was more serious looking and by the end, it was much cuter.
