Amane's evolution is subtle but always a key point in the plot; he recognizes that he will leave behind people from his past life, even those who played a positive role in his life, but this signifies a step towards growth. The classic festival episode never fails to be cute (even if cliché), but beyond the interaction of our couple, it was a nice addition to include Chitose and Itsuki; they always bring something funny to the show and help Amane and Mahiru in their relationship.

Itsuki and Chitose's relationship is so amusing, I like how different they are from Amane and Mahiru. Chitose making Itsuki shout that she's slender and sexy as punishment for calling out her lack of chest was so funny, the fact that he was bold enough to say something like that out loud was crazy though.  Chitose does seem to have some insecurities, I wonder if we'll get an episode or two on their relationship since Itsuki's father or brother seems to be against their relationship.  It's funny how much Amane resembles his father when it comes to boldly charming Mahiru, more evidence of how loving his parents were as he was growing up.

Festival episode, with the reveal that Miharu's parents were so neglectful that she hadn't even been to one before. It was mentioned in S1 that Chitose and Itsuki were very serious but that his parents disapproved, we got to see a bit more of that today but I wonder if we'll get a full explanation at some point. He kind of stepped in it by calling her flat today, but at least they reconciled after light punishment and more food.

Time for my weekly injection of sweetness. Amane's parents are relationship goals. They're so in love and supportive of their son. I think his mom might like Mahiru more than her Amane lol. Mahiru in a yukata was amazing. Amane's mom has great taste. It makes sense that Chitose and Itsuki wouldn't be there for a string of "visiting the parents" episodes, but you don't really realize how much flavour they bring to the show until they've been gone for a little bit. Glad they're back. Chitose's gremlin wingwoman energy is so good. Especially when she's giving Mahiru seduction advice.

Amane and Mahiru are on a stroll with Mahiru dressed in the most classy Summer outfit of all time (Parasol! Hat! White dress! White gloves!) with them holding hands as naturally as they breathe! And they're already planning their first official festival date as a couple! Surprise headbutt by the honorary imouto! This has been a whole series of Amane running into people from his past, now it's Hanada who Amane used to be close to but grew distant over Amane's bullying...Hanada regrets not helping Amane, but Amane has really moved past ALL of that thanks to his relationship with Mahiru, and is in a much better place. Maybe they'll never see each other again, but at least they can both put the past behind them and see each other off with a smile. This trip has been really great for flirting AND for Amane to deal with his past...which means Mahiru is inevitably going to have to face her parents too. If Shihoko could, she would keep Mahiru there with her permanently, though she'll just have to settle for her loving husband who can turn teasing into flirting so naturally it's criminal. Also, good to know that if Mahiru ever has a fight with Amane she can run away to his parents' house. She's truly been adopted by his loving and warm family. Amane and Mahiru are the handsomest couple at the festival in their double yukata! Shihoko picked VERY well! And Itsuki and Chitose are there too so it's a festival double date! Shame we didn't get Chii in a yukata, but no girl could beat how beautiful Mahiru is. Mahiru is good at many things but a markswoman she is not, luckily she's mastered puppy dog eyes to make her boyfriend do stuff for her! Amane and Mahiru are so attractive and flirty they keep turning heads and trying, in vain, to make the other not show off their most cute faces and sides to other people. The only people who get to see them at their best and most endearing is each other...at least until they flirt in public. Yes boys, Mahiru is off the market AND basically approved to marry her boyfriend eventually at this point! Chii has that bottomless anime girl stomach where she can eat and eat and never gain any weight! Even if Itsuki wouldn't mind if she put some of that food into her chest, though now he's got to yell out "CHII IS SLIM AND SEXY" while getting beat on to make it up to her. I guess it's not surprising that Chii would be a little self-conscious in comparison to Mahiru as the "perfect girl" with "nice boobs," but Itsuki still adores Chii for who she is. As much as Mahiru cherishes every moment with Amane...sometimes she just needs to spend time with her girlfriend. Especially when she asks Chii for advice, like on making Amane kiss her. She can speak to THAT success. Confident as Chitose acts, even she has struggles, like how Itsuki's dad still doesn't approve of her and whether her relationship with Itsuki now actually means something. But at least Amane could help cheer her up! There's a reason he's Mahiru's boyfriend. Special Yukata Visual ED! Next week: Amane vs Mahiru's dad!?

Mahiru might've grown up in a less-than-happy family but she's found a new one. Both Shuuto and Shihoko eagerly welcomed her – perhaps a bit too eager in the latter case. Hell, if she needed a talk with an adult, their doors were open – no Amane needed. Amane & Mahiru might be one of the sweetest couples around, but they're a bit too muted. Enter Chitose & Itsuki for a contrast. Both were in just as much of a loving relationship, but with the energy level ramped up to a 15. Pretty funny how Itsuki roasted Chitose's (lack of) bust and her reaction to it. Seemed like Itsuki's not too displeased about the '*punishment*'. Must be a masochist if he got thrilled by a bit of physical disciplining. They showed a different way of flirting compared to our main couple. After all the sugar we've been spoiled by, looks like we're getting into a bit of the heavier stuff. First with Amane's life advice to Chitose, and then the post-credits scene. That looked to be a pretty serious convo.

There isn’t much to say about this episode to be honest. I liked how the growth is put on display, with Amane recognising that some people, even if good, he will leave behind eventually and move on. His past is behind him and his future is with Mahiru. The festival was not that eventful, but it did not need to be. It was just a fun hang out time between two couples, enjoying their time, a little banter between Itsuki and Chi and Amane winning a prize for Mahiru. I don’t know how far the LN is, but I do hope that we will get a little side story about Itsuki and Chi resolving the issue with Itsuki’s father. Whatever the issue is, it’s probably dumb. But it felt nice to see that Chi actually is bothered by all of it. She loves Itsuki greatly, but his father puts a nail in her self-esteem. So next episode we will see Mahiru’s dad… oh boy…

When Amane's parents told Mahiru that she can visit any time she needed support from an adult, it felt like they were delivering the steel chair to Mahiru's parents in some kind of parenting brawl. As best as I can recall, Shihoko and Shuuto have not been told about Mahiru's terrible parents. But Shihoko may have seen how Mahiru is, that she lives alone, and put two and two together. She does seem to be a smart and intuitive mom. Also, I'm imagining Chitose and Itsuki having a fight five years after this episode, and Chii raising the small chest comment. Itsuki will be incredibly lucky if he got out of that with just a public scolding and food tribute.
