Honestly this season was pretty bad overall. Literally every episode was just some variation of "oh look it's the newlyweds. They are so in love." "Oh no other girls exist, mahiru is jealous, better spend 10 mins reassuring her that I won't go fuck them" "my girlfriend wants to fool around with me, but if I do I'll destroy her sexually, so gotta kiss and keep reminding her that I won't "rape" her and will control myself" But said in different locations. Prime example of how to not do a romance series after a confession.

Angel next door also has side characters that could have been utilized more in a similar vein Personally tho, I wouldn't have minded a whole season of just Tani and Suzuki, because personally I think their character writing is strong enough. But I will acknowledge that it wouldn't be as popular with everyone else, and the side characters do highly elevate the show. I highly enjoyed Pseudo Harem for example as well, which is another great example and revolves only around a single couple with very few side characters

I mean mostly relationship drama, stuff like love rivals or insecurities. Anything that might get between or kickstart the relationship development. Tonikawa is a bit unique in it's setting when it comes to a romance story, so it has drama in other ways. But at least in the romance aspect it's as far as I know completely drama free. And anyone who tries to introduce drama is not given a single inch, like Chitose

You don’t necessarily need drama but you need something. And not just strangely exaggerated fear of intimacy because you are paranoid about losing self control. There’s been a lot of good shows that feature entertaining romance after the couple gets together so I don’t buy into the belief that this one bad example proves why shows should end after. (Which I’ve seen some folks post.) The hookup scene in the recent epilogue shows for Love is War is such a great counter example. I was also one of the folks who liked Season 1 despite its flaws (which were pretty significant even then). Indeed my least favorite scenes in Season 1 then seemed to become the entire foundation and focus for Season 2. (Thinking of the scene where he berates her for not being more cautious around him when she fell asleep and he carried her to bed. A sweet moment destroyed by the implication she was lucky he didn’t assault her since “he’s a guy after all.”)

I will say for myself that I enjoyed the pure romance and the pure affection and love between Mahiru and Amane...to a point, but their dialogue and behavior around each other got very repetitive and the fact that the physical intimacy basically stalled past episode 5 or so didn't really help. Also it's just funny watching high schoolers basically play-act at being married without actually consummating anything.

I agree and it wasnt bad alone like, "Oh this is thrash", no, is bad in the way you explain it, every episode i finished like, "and thats all?" i wanted something deeper i cant explain what, and about the sexual part, i can understand his fear but, Dude she is practically begging for you to do something she understand you but please, anyways i enjoyed the show and lets see if in the case of a third (and i hope last, cause i dont see where it can get more stories) season, they solve that monotonous rhytm There is material for a third one right?

IT is still a ongoing series and it's 12th volume just came out or is about to come out. If I remember right the author expressed plans to go all the way to at least married if the series stays popular enough to be allowed. There is also some .1 or .5 volumes in addition to the regular ones to pull from. There are a lot of series like this with various different angles but Angel is by far the front runner and best known also most popular by far.

Mahiru describing how she just sits at home waiting for him to come back is so sad. girl needs therapy bad shes so dependent on him its insane. Shes basically a hollow doll version of the girl she started as. i can't believe a woman wrote this. also not a good enough relationship to be talking about marriage when for the last 10 episodes weve had the same "conflict". Amane not wanting to do it is making her super insecure, anytime she tries to discuss this there's no resolution . same with the jealousy.

Amane really doesn't seem the type to make a big deal out of his own birthday on his own while does of his friends. Remember he didn't tell MAhiru of his birthday the previous year either and she got mad about it. With him also busy trying get use to a new job that even his friends think he is working to much, school work, a gf, and spending time with his friends it is easy to forget if you don't normally put a big emference on it yourself. Also it is made clear she reached out to his friends to not bring it up and give them some privacy alone for it. It is reasonable to expect she also contacted his parents to and if his parents didn't contact him like normal he is even less likely to think about it. Hell the girl seemed fully ready and expecting to have sex with him for it so obviously wouldn't want any interuptions.

the point in my eyes is its clearly making her insecure but amane keeps giving the same tepid ass response . he doesn't have to want to fuck, or be ready for it, but the baby redirect comes accross as so deeply dishonest in a world where you can get a mirena insertion and properly use a condom and have a 99.998% defense against pregnancy . Girl get a fucking mirena. hurts like a bitch going in but then you can fuck to your hearts content and your period basically is nonexistent.

My gripe with the story (more so than the anime persay, since this is an adaptation of the LN) is the near complete lack of progress in their relationship. Their relationship in episode 1 and episode 12 is practically the exact same. I don't understand why, to be honest, because your relationship shouldn't stagnate after a confession. It's the beginning of new discoveries about each other and yourselves (and NEW experiences with each other!!!). This story is kind of a polar opposite to RaG. RaG over does repeated "drama" arcs and never makes progress therefore. This anime does the complete opposite and doesn't make progress while everything, relationship wise, is practically perfect. Now let me be clear. I'm not saying we need more drama in this anime! But we do need to see some kind of real progress in their relationship over 12 episodes. Again, this is more a criticism of the story, as an anime only, rather than a criticism of the anime itself.
