I'm so happy right now. This is exactly the kind of animation that I've always thought was lacking in the first season. Sure, it didn't need to be a masterpiece, but it felt like so much detail were lost by just being on par. (Doesn't help that I read the LN beforehand.) Two things I really like compared to Season 1 so far: the animation quality is much better with all the chibi expressions and the scene transitions, ect... And, I love that I can hear the inner thoughts of the characters more, felt like the first season never had it on moments I expected it to have.
And, the diabetes are still here!

Yeah, they give the show a bit more energy. While season 1 is great and has a fantastic mellow vibe, it does lack a bit of energy and character at times. The chibi animations fill that gap. And in general Amane and Mahiru are both more expressive and energetic, which really illustrates well how they've grown

It's no secret that Amane wants to jump her bones, he's made it clear to her that there's times that his self control is on a hair trigger. And Mahiru has already contemplated what it might be like to be jumped. She nearly invited him to do it once last season but wisely thought better of it.
Bottom line, things are poised to progress rapidly. I actually could see a teenage wedding with those two just based on how they are about things. Mahiru's mature beyond her years and Amane's a smart young man with a bright future. I'd bet on them to make it work if it came down to that.

God these two are so naturally cute together. This show truly is Diabetes the anime. The girls squeeing over them being together is the audience insert we need right now. And god they are as affectionate as they are at home in public now. This is going to be WILD.
I love the use of Chibi and similar art styles in this show, they add so much cuteness or comedy for the moment. And watching this I realize I probably SHOULD be tired of this pattern by now (I even rewatched most of s1 in prep for s2, was only 3 episodes left when this dropped) but instead I just giggle and squee seeing the two dorks be in love.
I kinda like Ayaka, she seems like a nice girl from the interactions we've seen from her this season. I assume she's going to become a more regular part of the cast for these 12 episodes, and so far I like the addition.

Wow, it took looking at it 10 different times to see it, lol. What looks like a row of glass windows of the floor below is actually the glass barrier of the balcony. It's just that the camera angle lines up exactly right to make it look like a continuous wall with glass, with a ~4-6 inch ledge just outside the sliding door - but that "ledge" is actually the top rail of the balcony barrier.
