I liked how Himeko shut Hayato down in just a few seconds of conversation; the guy is basically a technological Neanderthal lol. As for Haruki, I don't think she's a classic tomboy so much as someone who doesn't really have a concept of "feminine charm",I imagine that will be explored further as the episodes go on. Minamo is a total sweetheart; it almost feels unfair for her to be on the show given the obvious competition, but I’m hoping for some character development regardless.

You have to wonder how bad middle school went for her that she feels she has to be as strict on her "act" as she is. She's also probably never had any real female friends. Himeko Stitch I think my favourite thing about this show so far is how much of a country bumpkin Hayato and Himeko are. Like how Hayato loves the rain because he doesn't need to help water the fields or how he's confused that people don't normally give each other veggies. My favourite is the konbini ag at the end of the episode and how Hayato and Himeko are just in awe seeing a store open late at night. 😆 That misunderstanding tho! I've been excited to see Himeko reunite with Haruki. I'm gonna guess that Himeko doesn't know that Haruki is a girl too.

Why is no one mentioning the fact that there was a SUCCESSFUL confession right outside the storage window! These shows ALWAYS make it a fail. Love how this show seems to ALWAYS do the OPPOSITE of the usual tropes. 2 weeks in a row, all annoying tropes avoided yet again. Really cute sleeper hit so far. They even realized the phone joke was only as good as long as it was just for the episode. Plus, I had already thought "new phone = Date" since it was mentioned.

But it's nice to see Hayato and Mitake getting along. (Also surprised they didn't do a see-through shirt gag, but I think you could see the lines of her bra at times...) Haruki really laying the act on thick to turn the entire class against Haruki...all so she can convince him to get a cellphone. Haruki you devious mastermind. The friends that get destroyed together in video games can shop for cell phones together. How could two teens resist the urge to visit a late night urban convenience store in the city? Himeko even got dressed up nicely for it! They even run into Haruki in casual clothes (including pants!), though she's obviously forgotten about what Himeko looked like and assumed another girl is getting TOO friendly with Hayato...which she reacts COMPLETLEY well too.

Also twice in one episode of girls looking absolutely devastated when Hayato turns down their contact exchange. That's probably telling of something. Maybe something as telling as the dark look on Haruki's face later that night when she crossed paths with Hayato with a cute girl hanging off his arm. Oh no! You might catch a cold! That's very true Hayato. Anime colds are serious business. Cuz one drop of water is all it takes to contract it. One. Drop. To go to the Circus of Values late at night to kill their cravings. The evidence continues to mount that Haruki is in love with Hayato. I'm sure she refused any of the vegetables Hayato offered because Mitake grew them and she was PISSED when she thought Himako might be his gf. Probably also why she got mad he didn't have a cell phone. That came off as insensitive when she called him an idiot for not having one; I suspect he might be lying about saying he doesn't need one and just wants to save his family money because they have to pay his mothers medical bills and living in Tokyo is far more expensive that living in a rural area although Haruki doesn't know this. Haruki is kind of immature and insensitive in general. She was looking down at the other girls for always gossiping about people's love lives but then she spied on that girl confessing to that boy. Also that was mean to call out Hayato in front of the whole class for not having a cell and making him seem like he was mean and didn't want to give info to Haruki, although I don't think Haruki would have done that if she knew the full story. I was confused though as to why Hayato called Mori a traitor, he didn't seem to be involved in Haruki's plan. Next episode, I'm most looking forward to if Hinako will find out Haruki now lives as a girl and if so, how will she react. Also, when Hayato introduces Himako, will Haruki just say who she really is or hide and pretend to be someone else.

They definitely started catching feelings this episode. Haruki seemingly not interested in romance at all but as she said "it's fine if it's Hayato", and for the reverse Hayato realizing she's pretty cute. Definitely mock the boy until he gets a cell phone though, it's for his own good. The siblings making a dramatic night time visit to a conbini was pretty funny, and even better it set up the little sister reunion too. Silly yokels from the countryside.

Comfort early in the relationship isn't fun. There needs to be some friction or embarassment for it to develop into something more. The garden scenes aren't very original but they have the right amount of romantic tension for me to want to root for that girl. As you said in your other comment, with the FL, he's just got a bros hanging out vibe. And yet, we get them both blushing for seemingly no reason. It's like the show wants to suggest that these two are catching feelings but it's not showing us a good enough development of those feelings.

Plus, they are pretty close childhood friends, so there's a reason they are already quite comfortable with each other, except for the fact that the ML didn't know that Haruki was a girl. Would also feel shocked and awkward if I found out that my childhood friend, whom I didn't see for 7 years, was actually a girl all along, and a beauty to boot.

there are moments between the two that are clearly meant to make us go aww which are just falling flat Never felt like there were meant to be any "aww" scenes, like Haruki is clearly the tomboy type and the two still act like in their childhoods where their relationship felt like a boy/boy friendship. Like it felt more like a bunch of bro scenes rather than romantic aww scenes so far, at least to me.

I might be the only one, and maybe I am missing something, but I find it weird how well Hayato took realizing that Haruki is a girl and a cute popular one to boot. I mean he just seems overly chill about everything, not that I mind I've always preferred that to the bashful, stuttering, awkward and just weird type that you see in most rom-coms (ex our dating story). I knew that Haruki obviously harbors feelings towards Hayato (whether they're reciprocated atp I'm not sure yet) but the ending when he's caught with his sister made me laugh lmao. Also I'm excited to see how both his sister and Haruki react to finding out that Hayato lied about Haruki's gender this whole time for no apparent reason that's in anyway obvious to me.
