I always thought the biomerge digivolutions were a little weird. Like, the idea is cool, but the losing clothes part is a bit icky to me.

Its because the clothes aren't fully representative of their sense of self, they aren ohysically inside, they are just a mass of data, thats why Konaka doesn't like the dub term

That's the western sensibilities kicking in. In Japan nudity is generally just seen as a normal part of life, so in general they're less weird about it than we are here. In media, transformation sequences often involve the characters being "nude" (almost always obscured by lighting or effects) as a way to represent purity, cleansing their mind and soul to accept the new power. Sailor Moon did the same thing. Frontier too. Back in high school I read a book all about anime history and it explained a ton of tropes that are pretty much exclusive to Japan, so I was well prepared for the weirdness and it doesn't bother me at all, but I have to remind myself sometimes that not everyone had that luxury lol

im amazed how much the west villlianizes nudity when its shaped so many cultures including western ones, it is not inherently sexual and is literally what we all are underneath in flesh & blood

Yeah, it's the only complaint I have with it. Biomerge otherwise is my favorite mega mechanic in the whole franchise, I just wish they did something other than naked Ken dolls. Like I feel like them being in their normal street clothes wouldn't quite fit, but maybe like a generic white shirt and pants with a soft glow?

The first image is fanart of the protagonist of Digimon Ghost Game if he used Biomerge evolution from Tamers (series 3). He does not actually use Biomerge in Ghost Game. Ghost Game is pretty neat. Most of the series takes place in the human world, with Digimon emerging every episode to cause trouble. Kinda like the first half of Tamers.
