The only issue with that is the fact that Age is an actual stat needed to Digivolve. Even if their Digimon died off screen, there'd still be a decent period of time where you should be able to see them at an earlier stage.

Apparently that was a function of winning 2nd place at that digimon tournament a second digivice that improves growth iirc. But you already had a normal one to compete which is confusing honestly.

That would make sense, if we didn't factor in the fact that age is a literal thing needed to digivolve. Jijimon being replaced by a new incarnation every 20 days would still mean he'd be a different digivolution stage for about half of those days.

I would accept that and the canon answer, if it wasn't for the fact that you could also just stay in town and raise your Digimon, still leading to them dying before any of the other Digimon even gain a wrinkle(or the Digimon equivalent).

So my head cannon (and I guess kinda cannon) is that the digidestined (or whatever you are called in world) acts as a sort of cheat code/shortcut. The digidestined allows their digimon to digivolve at a much faster rate than other digimon. But with drawbacks depending on the continuity. In most of the shows they are able to digivolve exorbitantly fast. Going from rookie to mega in seconds. But with the drawback that it's only a temporary state and if they take enough damage they revert back to rookie or below. In world the evolution is speed up in comparison to the non partnered digimon but less drastically as so. Like you said taking days or weeks supposed to what I imagine the normal being years. While this accelerated evolution method is more stable than the form in the shows, the drawback is accelerated aging. The digimon's lifespan being shortened to a few days rather than years. (The real reason is to encourage the player to experiment and play with all the different Digimon you can use in the game, but that's not as fun for theory crafting.)

As I said to KrimsunV, even if you do nothing with your Digimon(other than feed and care for it), it will still die decades sooner than any other Digimon. Also the fact that in Next Order you have human friends with Digimon Partners that seemingly do not have any lifespan at all.

Just because you don't exploit the trade off doesn't mean the consequences of it don't exist. Think of it like this, you trade ten years of your life for a million dollars but you never spend it. You'll still die ten years sooner but you never benefitted from the cost. Your digimon partner is fundamentally different from the other digimon, the potential to grow stronger and evolve so quickly also makes its lifespan shorter. It's not that the evolving itself is the cause, thats just the benefit from a trade off that's already happened. Next order is a different continuity, every version of digimon works on their own variation of rules. Finally it's just a gameplay mechanic, there has to be some kind of balancing or loop. Otherwise you get an ultimate digimon once and scrap the whole reincarnation, training, digivolving aspect of the game.

Might be implied they die and quickly get back to that level faster. Or they are just built different. I mean the digimon you have is not natural. It's likely a new born the moment you got it, like not having had previous forms or the way the tamer uses it just drains his life span like crazy. Even the TV shows they are usually not natural. The most natural I can think of was Gatomon and Leomon. Gatomon was still made for Kari, but because she leveled up on her own she can hold the champion form. And Leomon I think became a partner on tamers, and was a regular Leomon which would comfortably hold it too. When they digivolve with a partner it's kinda forced
