My interpretation is that Robin had such a cruel past that she never really got to experience true childhood. So much of her dynamic with Luffy, and how she relaxes into the crew later, is to do with her freeing her inner child.
俺の解釈だと、ロビンは過去が悲惨すぎて本当の子供時代を経験できてなかったんだ。だからルフィとの関係や、一味に打ち解けていく様子は、彼女が内なる子供を解放していく過程なんだと思う。+1

I love this take especially since she presents as the Stoic One but as readers we get to see that she seemingly enjoys the antics of the dumb-dumbs (Luffy, Usopp, Chopper) far more than she lets on.

I hope the live action gets a fourth season since they can start developing this relationship with Iñaki & Lera. I also realized that those two have the same age difference that Luffy & Robin have.

I have a working theory that Dragon is also Robin’s father. It would make sense especially since Robin didn’t talk about her time with the Revolutionary Army and Dragon

He'd be looking for Robin the second he saw her bounty
