About 40 to 50 days ago I reviewed the anime, and it really interested me so I picked up the light novel from the start. Thank to those who recommended me to read it from the start!

I read about a little more than half a volume per day, with it 40 or so days of my life got sucked out from this adventure, after finishing it I felt like waking up from a long dream. Reading such a long series for the first time showed me just how time consuming reading can be, even more so than gaming.

Kinda agree. I too felt that things felt rushed and dull closer to the end. It felt like mission after mission, whereas I kinda preferred to have more SOL part of things in between. The last volumes were particularly long because there was no pause from Kalman III to Badi.

That aside, the best thing about reading after the anime is that it’s easy to visualise the scenes!

If you’re not quite satisfied there is a lot of side-stories. I highly recommend reading Old Dragon’s Tale now that you’ve finished the LN; it’s like a prequel for Mushoku Tensei and the amount of lore it adds is truly insane — It also explains why Orsted and Hitogami are mortal enemies, AND who Laplace is because ODT is written from his point of view.

>This also made me hate the Man-God character, he is stupid and short sighted while having the ability to see into future. I also over estimated how cunning he was gonna be, remember he said no one could possibly defeat Orsted? And then he just sends Rudeus to fight him knowing(surely he knows) the possibility that he can ally with Orsted? On the other hand he sabotages his own disciples. Why? I understand he does this to Rudeus because his off spring directly threatens him, but why everyone

About your criticisms About Laplace; the author will be doing a sequel series at some point I the future, and theoretically Laplace will be a big part of the plot in that. I like to think of it kind of like The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. With Mushoku Tensei being the Hobbit, and the eventual sequel series being Lord of the Rings.

He said he’ll be starting the new series after the anime is over and when he is done with his interim series Orc Eroica.

Some of your concerns were left like that because those were plot points for the *sequel”, for example, the asura arc was supposed to have way more complex politics but because asura will be important in the sequel. For martial arts, there will be a fourth sword style so they will probably explore the sword styles better., not to mention we are getting new spear users.

The dragon -human god conflict is better explained in the web novel old dragon tale, we also see more attack techniques in subj

I can say that I mostly agree with you. Reading the entirety of MT over 4 months (before ever touching the anime) felt like an adventure I never experienced before. I am very happy that you liked it and that this countless hours were well invested.

The only thing I have to say is that I don’t know if you completely understood what word building really is because the things you mentioned are more lore than actual world building.
Especially because I think that MTs world building is by far its gr

Im going to respond in spanish cuz is my main language so feel free to translate but u can answer in english.

You should read “old dragons tale” or listen to it on YouTube I think it’ll solve some of your misgivings and also made me personally question that part about good v evil a little bit. I agree the ending felt kinda rushed but regardless I still love the story as a whole. Loved reading your review!

“Time Travel and create inconsistency”. Lol

Did you really just took Old Rudeus coming to our Rudeus as “time travel inconsistency”? Or you simply don’t understand the concept of “Time Branches”?

If this is “time travel inconsistency”, Orsted has also “time travelled” a lot of time and created a lot of “inconsistency ” in the “actual timeline”.

The part about Old Rudeus’ story isn’t to create a “Terminator close time loop” but to narrate a different time branch, and since Old Rudeus under
